Great stuff. Those disks on the pipes are called spectacle blinds & are used for isolating a pipeline, normally during maintenence. The pipe flanges are loosened and these are swung into place to provide a isolation barrier. Safer than relying purely on valve isolation when work is being carried out.
Thanks for the shout out and big thanks for channel shout out was not expected that bit 🙂for the Location 👍and the water is just over a meter as i had to get a friends phone out as they dropped it in there in rice for few days and still works lol and i did walk along the pipes its just the hall that was dry
Fuel vapour is heavier than air so the black ductwork extracts from low level. This makes the area that has no natural ventilation safer to work in and from vapour build up and possible explosion.
re pipeline network. It runs north from Bristol, comes through Worcester, where is lil storage facility by the river up a steep, impenetrable escarpment - with its own mini oil handling jetty on the river itself. (I fish and have never seen a boat moored on that jetty, but the lock on the entrance gate was freshly oiled last time i looked.) I am unsure if is any underground bunker action on the site. Could be-it on top a big solid hefty hillside, well above water table with river close but 50 feet below, is worse places to construct such. From there, the pipeline seems to run by the canal north, you see it pop up in places between towpath and neighboring back gardens. Its always made me laugh- supposedly critical national military infrastructure, in plain sight. Utterly unprotected bar by its anonymity. (I- am a ship an plane nut. This network is all RN inspired post the switch to oil fuel circa 1910, which is how i heard of it.) I would not be surprised if was a spur line heading to Malvern. As random aside- farmland between Worcester and Malvern is littered with funny radio antenna disguised as pairs or threes of telegraph poles with their wire- except these go no-where, and have an MOD contact number on them for accidents- im pretty sure all them are to do with the former Quintiq place in Malvern... (Mapwise- jetty/ facility - East bank of river, just north upstream of Worcesters south bypass river bridge.)
Havent been here for a while, last time one of the blast doors had just been taken off for the Herpatology people to get in and use it as storage. Was an old PC with a CRT screen in there and a few old bits but I can't really remember. Been meaning to go back and see how it is these days. So the bouncing bombs were tested here and the testing (also sinking) of a bunch of amphibious tanks. Some are still in the water as war graves, can scuba dive around them but the deceased are still sealed in the tanks to this day. On low tide, can see them pearing through the water or at least dark large spots where they are. Got the pictures and a small video on my drive somewhere.
Those doorways with pipes through them…very odd, permanently open, why have a door? Probably a later addition plus it kept the emergency exit hatches and gangways clear at all times. Great explore and good to see, always strange to think of these places entombed forever.
Nice find I'm a local and never came across that one bunker ..you going to explore the royal navy cordite factory on holten lee heath location is about 2 miles away from this one .edit just found your video's on the site going to watch now see if you missed anything or if you if found something I missed lol
This site was used for fueling the flying boats which would moor up on lake jetty to fly as far as hong Kong used to be several along the beach as a kid but was scrapped by council . the royal navy cordite factory was used to make the cordite many of buildings are gone and to rubble but the site is massive and overgrown many Hidden stuff which I've never seen filmed on any RUclips videos on here.
This place used to fuel the flying boats that use to take off from the harbour, used to play there as a kid but don’t let the marines catch you in there they won’t be happy lol, check out HOLTON HEATH there is loads of tunnels and weird stuff there, my grandad use to work there and there are tunnels that run 3/5 miles out to sea!!
Maybe possible to clear the blocked passage by removing some of the antiques. Still I do understand if you do not want to disturb anything on a site. Even more maybe some unknown with an electric grinder would came by and get rid of those pesky welding at the door frame. And then maybe someone told you, now it seems to be open. And then maybe we could see the inside of the secret vault. Then of course when the video is released, maybe some one else see it and come back to really lock it all up.Because those are important stuff to do. Not stopping the war in Ukraine, oh no. :(
1st class video to watch thank you take care kind regards from me kenneth😀
Certainly brave monkeying through those pipes..lol.
At least the adventure wasn't a complete . . cock up.. ;-P
Thanks for taking us along. =-)

Smashing I am always amazed what can be found underground, and your the master of exploring in my opinion.
Great explore, always enjoy your commentary, watching you balancing on those pipes reminded me of the crystal maze game show....legend.

Hi Matt great explor it's amazing how they built such structures never realised how meny abandoned bunkers there our, thanks for sharing your videos 👍
Good one! Not easy. Great video! Thanks Matthew!
👍👊😎
Nice one Matt, did you notice there were radiators on the walls in places to keep the area warm. Must have been a 24 hour manned facility.
Love this one. You can see one pipe through the doorway. Can not close that door unless you dismantle that pipe...
52:30 That is KLINGERIT. Not used for gaskets any more, due to content of asbestos.
Shame the water, level was up, but nice to see what gets left

My neighbour said when the bomb breached one of the tanks if it had exploded the whole of the soil in Hamworthy would have been turned over !!
