It might be nothing but your drainage exit was a female fitting when running water down stream normally has a male fitting at the exit with the female at the entrance end. If the pipes double femaled please ignore what I've just written
I would suggest that on the end of your drain pipe, if the whole thing is not buried, that you put a screen to keep out the rodents. They will find it and build a big old nest which will clog up the whole thing. The effort of putting a screen on it will save you headaches down the line.
Next time you are joining plastic pipes with rubber seals just wipe the inside of the pipe and the rubber seal with washing up liquid soap .They will then push together without a struggle .cheers
You can also use a solid pipe cap that you drill drainage holes into. If you attach it with just a thin bead of outdoor caulk, instead of adhesive, you can take it off to clean out debris, when necessary.
Keep the white stone and write "Welcome" in paint for all your guests since it's by the door. Or the name of your homestead and Established date, "Casa Furnando Est. 2021" It is your corner stone for the building, so use it my friends. No worries. Your moving along well. Love to you all, pets to the animals 🐾
Id maybe get a large piece of stone and get the sign name someone suggested, on that. Id still get rid of the white. The sign woud be far too high - and ugly on that white piece of stone. Yuck!
I’m 74 years old and am on my own now and absolutely love watching you both. And love hearing Bee laughing. It made me laugh and there are not a lot to laugh about here in Country Victoria Australia at the moment. We have been in lockdown for months and it’s just starting to ease even though we have a lot of cases still.
Bee, you look so stunning in the thumbnail in that gorgeous dress. So many dresses & tops in your well-deserved updated new clothing. Great job both of you working together on the gutter, down pipe, & the drainage. “Don’t ask how I recreated a light flow.” Haha. Great problem solving; great idea to do lean-to. Bee & Theo, I appreciate your hard work & teamwork!!✊🏼💛✌🏼
Bee, you found such beautiful music for spanning around the property and the critters and kitties, it almost felt like springtime ! Kuddos on getting some gutter into place now, will give you more peace of mind in inclement weather. Lovely to just see you getting so many little chores and fixes in place, and working together in harmony. I agree with suggestion to find some rock-texture type paint to cover the white rock, will save you tons of time and effort and even if it doesn't completely match the other stone, it will fade into the overall look and not stick out like a sore thumb which bugs you Theo ! As they say, work smarter, not harder and don't sweat the small stuff and save your energy for the bigger issues 😎 Theo, you just keep rockin the socks, and Bee you just keep rockin with your beautiful smile and words. Thank you for giving us such a lovely mid-week break between our own chores 💕 Love from sunny Florida, USA 🌞
You know what would be cool? Getting some sort of brass plaque to mount onto one of the corner stones. Theo your are doing an incredible job on that exterior. It's a work of art.
I think I mentioned collecting the water off the barn roof before, an extra layer of water resiliance. Of course, one way to collect the water would be to divert it....to a pond or other catchment area. Hmm....🤔 Once you soften the paint, a wire brush may do the job?
I can already imagine what your home and land will be like even within the next few years, paradise! Peace and quiet, sunshine, gardens, fruit trees, the sky is the limit. Truly so happy for you! When I go back and look at the first videos here at the property, that is really where you can see just how far you have come. Could you imagine one day like a patio with a pergola, fire pit, outdoor kitchen, so much potential down the road. Love from Florida and always keeping you in my prayers, glad your feeling better Bea! Hugs!
Hi Bea, nice that you are learning Swedish. I am a Norwegian, living in Sweden. Did you know that you can use your Swedish skills also i Norway! In Finland many people also speak so called Swedish/Finnish... And in Denmark it also comes in handy. Have a nice trip when you plan to go - and we would not mind a visit, he he.
Hi both, yes I know you've installed a temporary gutter, however you might want to consider a water collection Butt taking water from the roof....... then one outlet 3/5 up joined into the French Drain (yet to be installed) to help flush it clear. Another outlet at 4/5 up as an overflow to run to drain. Then a low outlet with tap at the base to recycle your water as you wish. PS In the UK the roofing felt always overlaps into the guttering. - Just an idea for you to consider
When i first saw this stone barn, i thought that is way too small, you'll never be able to live there but now it looks huge and beautiful. Amazing. I can't wait till we/(ok, you,) move in. So gorgeous.
To get you by until you sort out the roof. Feed a piece of plastic flashing from the top of the wall under the tile into the guttering. That way it will collect the drips and into the gutter
@Heartsongsutube unfortunately that would mean cutting through creating a leak . I have to say this is the first time I've ever seen a guttering system that fixes to the tiles. It appears to have issues!
"One step closer". Yay! Loved the whole video (as usual), but those olives on the branch remind me soooo much of when, as a child, I stayed with my loving grandparents in the rural area where they lived, in Portugal. Nostalgic in a most loving way! 💗 Stay well.
Not sure which of you are doing the nature shots (perhaps both of you), but just wanted to tell you what a fabulous job you're doing! Love the up-close of the cats, chickens, bugs, flowers, fruits, etc. Very pleasant, realistic and enjoyable. 😉 Thanks for including those....
I absolutely loved your nature shots and the accompanying music, beautiful and so serene. When you are all settled in your beautiful new tiny home I was thinking, off of your front over hang a rain chain would be a wonderful addition. Sitting on your veranda when it is raining and watching the magic of a rain chain would be so peaceful. Your new home is going to be so amazing and all completed with your blood, sweat and tears. A true labor of love❤️
You can attach something like a strip of plastic or something that goes up behind the end of the tiles attached to the rain gutter that will prevent water from running down your wall. Less work, it will keep your home natural and authentic and less expensive. I'm building an Adobe in New Mexico btw.
Theo & Bea, I really love watching you both build your dream home but lately the video vignettes of Gingibear, Fernando, the glorious chickens, and your land with views of olives, apples and the natural grasses and brush set to lovely music fills my soul with a sense of calm and peace. Thank you!
Why not get yourself a couple of IBC tanks and harvest the rainwater instead of drain it away? For the gutter/ roof problem, mount a metal "shelf" under the tile into the gutter, that way the "low flow" still end up in the gutters... Nice work anyway, keep up that good spirit, and stay safe.
Yes mount a water butt or barrel on an elevated platform then you can pipe rainwater into the barn for doing dishes or boiling etc. Also fit an outside tap for watering plants etc. Shame to waste water on an off grid cabin.
I noticed the bare wood behind the gutter. Will this have a plastic barrier stapled along under the tile to protect the wood and lay over the other plastic. I live in a country that gets lots of rain so maybe that’s not needed and I’m being overly “beefin” and over protective. I just worry that splashback could be a problem at this spot.
For a couple that travelled as long as u guys , you to are amazing as a team together and a natural to building and figuring out how to do it. Congrats It cant be easy ,so slow and steady and enjoy each day❤️ your fan from🇨🇦😇
Can you use metal flashing under the tile and bent onto the rock walls? I do like your idea of a lean too on the wall, can hold and protect all kinds of stuff. I’m so impressed with you both and your creativity with your terrific homestead.
Your flock is just gorgeous! Such a handsome, healthy rooster and his girls. The barn is shaping up nicely too, and the drainage that you’re working on will serve to protect your hard work on this lovely home. Well done, you two!
Fantastic progress. It's good that Theo left the inside pointing til last so it will be prettiest because of all his experience. Team Cottage has done it again: a project made better because you're together.
You all ,kitty's and chickens included , just make my day ! Inspiring, funny, beautiful footage. Love seeing you 2 problem solve and " gettin er done! " Amazing seeing this old barn come to life for you !! Love and hugs from Kansas USA
A Wire brush for your angle grinder will make short work of removing the paint off the stone. White spirit is only good for paint that hasn't gone hard, you require proper paint stripper (nasty stuff) for old paint. Hence wire brushing and if the stone looks too clean after, a bit of soil and water will soon blend it in. I would also recommend a reducer for the downpipe going in to the drain pipe. 👍 😎 😸
You can help the rainwater go to into the gutter with a piece of wire that you glue to the last centimeter of your roof tile and let it hang down in your gutter. We do the same with a thin chain from the gutter to a rain barrel. Works well!
Lovely job guys. You need to pick the olives now and if you going to have a wood burner and stove pick up the pine cones too before rain starts. Love you guys. Keep strong. 💕😘
Might I suggest leaving the offending stone as is and put the year the barn was constructed on it and the year you finish refurbishing it? Love seeing you working together and seeing the cats and chickens again!! Love and hug from sunny Arizona 💖😎💖
After all these people saying to leave it, it would still annoy me 100%! Everytime I look at older episodes, its going to irritate me to no end. I absolutely love the pointing. It makes the wall POP!
Hi, the easy way and right way Is take of the bottom row of tile and put 18” dpc plastic under the first tile and allow the dpc to touch the bottom of the gutter. Pin the dpc to the rafters, it won’t take long but it is the proper way. Then you can forget all about the problems of any water running down the blocks . Regards Diane
Nearly the right idea but what you should use are felt supports, not dpc, these are a plastic length of about 1.5m. The undersarking Theo should be above your gutter, this alone would get the water into the gutter as this is seminpermable and doesn't allow water back in.
@@KingstonHomeMaintenance I can see from the video that there already is a few inches of undersarking (roofing felt) hanging just below the new guttering from underneath the tiles. If you were to cut a couple of vertical cuts, with a Stanley knife, either side of each gutter bracket you could lap the roofing felt into the gutter for most of its length. The sort of gutter brackets soled in England fix to the wall so you wouldn't have to make the cuts I described but as your gutter brackets fix on the edge of the tiles this the only way to get the roofing felt to lap into the gutter. Regards Cato
Theo, Theo, Theo, YOU my dear take the cake on pointing! You only have to take a glance at your beautiful workmanship and see that you have an eye for detail and perfection. Looking at the whole back wall is proof of your great eye. It's gorgeous. I understand the white corner stone being an issue. It's an eyesore. You just need a wire brush and it will come off with that acid. Can you get a rain barrel for watering your garden? Another gutter and a rain chain to drip the water into a rain barrel would solve garden watering issues. Maybe off the lean to you're going to put up. Every drop of rain water will help. Bee, your photography is so serene. Just love what you capture on film of the feather babies and your fur babies. You two are perfect together. Can't wait to see the inside wall all finished.
Ali G, brilliant, good to have Bee back and great the guttering is on. It will back such a difference to the conditions inside the building along with the lime pointing ... well done guys. It's always a great feeling to tick a job off
I just feel so happy watching the two of you working together. Its very very enjoyable. And I am so happy to see Bea back to her normal happy self........ Bea.. if you are not really happy you are doing a splendid job if hiding it.....huh???????God Bless you both and love you both very much.....
Awesome amount of work has been achieved in this video. I don't know about other peeps but I could watch a whole video of the cats and chickens with the soothing music you use. It's a really nice way to unwind especially if you suffer with anxiety issues. Really do find your videos relaxing and so glad to see you back in the mix Bee
I just love your. videos ! I love the progress, yes, but also the slow, sweet, and natural clips in between the scenes of Gingey, Fernando, your chickens, and your land. So peaceful.
You two make me smile so much! Your attitude is so refreshing. It is wonderful to see people happy at work. I think you are going to make it in by Christmas!
Theo have a look at running the felt into the gutter or put a sarking felt lift the bottom course of tile to put in, this will bridge the gap into the gutter
at the end of the pipe have a little retaining pond with a channel that goes across the slope- The water will stay on the land and then will help refresh your well water. Watched Homstead Paradise, got barren land. they do a very interesting rain collection system close to the top of the hill- small retaining ponds with channels carved into the slope that carry the water horizontal instead of flowing down hill and off the property. So you will have grassy areas around the channels because it gets more water per year than just a regular slope
You guys are so cute together. It makes my heart happy to see you both smiling, joking and laughing. If you build a lean to, will you have to dig another trench?
Downpipes should lead to a hopper/surface water drain (at or just below ground level) this can then drain any surface water as well as draining the downpipe and can be used easily for any future drain-pipe.
Love Theo boasting about his outhouse saying that it is probably one of the most tech outhouses ever. It is impressive: you are totally right to be proud:)
You guys are amazing taking on such a beautiful project. Here in the states finding something like that is impossible. Love you guys and truly appreciate what you're doing.
A lean to is a great idea, large table and seating for outdoor entertaining and a place for the pizza oven!!! Add a sink for washing up all that produce from the garden!!!!!! Everything is looking so good!!! I admire your determination and hard work, you guys are amazing!!!
Awesomeness in what you have accomplished! Have you thought of having a live video when you guys are ready to move into your new home. That would be lovely!
Love seeing the pix of the land and enjoy your playful interaction, even during hard work. Curious if inside finish work has to wait till pointing is completed inside and out. Wanna see those appliances you hauled go in and get a better feel for the space!
Well guys that was a very interesting vlog. Theo I had a good laugh when you said you come down to do a Cheeky little dump Cant wait to see you both working inside .Bea your looking so happy and loving being back.Take care
The Amish are known for their beautiful nearly perfect quilts. The patchwork is so perfect , one piece is deliberately sewn upside down to represent humility . As your white stone is repurposed it also represents a barn transformed into a beautiful home. When you see it's purpose it will no longer bother you .
Theo, with your accent, every time you said, "down pipe" I thought you said, "damn pipe"!! Those builders did you no favors. Yay on the shower, you two. 👍😎🇨🇦🐾🐾
"Well away from the house" hehe, Theo said 'house' not 'barn'!! sounded natural too 🤔 Also, is it just me or are the chickens lookin especially fluffy? So adorable 🥰
Awe Bee your looking so good and happy. It's so exciting it's coming all together. Best part, like our van builds, is the final touches. Watching this video I was thinking what a beautiful environment the cats have and I love Gingy sunning on the rocks. Nice music too!! So glad your back Bee. Bless you both ❤
When you see the Barn at the beginning of the videos it looks so small & now it’s totally transformed into a beautiful Home so excited to see how you furnish & decor the inside 😍
Hi guys it’s great to see things moving on nicely, it’s a shame those cowboys messed up the tiles but it sounds like you can do a decent bodge. IMHO I quite like the one bit of painted stone, it shows character, the history of where it came from & a bit more rustic.
So great seeing you both happy and busy on your land.👍😊⚘ Cant wait for sundays video for more home improvement projects. 😊⚘ it's so lovely to see Gingie bear, Fernando and the sweet chikens living life to their fullest 👍😊❣truely adore your homestead, you both have accomplished so much since you started building your dream home on the land. And Yes, your bathroom is such a grand one, sweeter than many in a regular house for sure.👍👍👍😊❣ Thank you Bea and Theo for bringing us along with you. 😊❣😊⚘
While your project is far from “simple,” you two are the only van lifers-turn-homesteaders who we know of that have actually kept it “simple.” It seems to us that you are living a life more true to your philosophy than others who have needed to stop travelling due to COVID. “Stuff” doesn’t make you happy. Connection to each other and your land is what you two are about and we respect that immensely. Take care of each other and be well. Much love from Ottawa 🇨🇦
All the shots of the cats ! Beautiful.... Fernando is the luckiest cat alive,to have been found by you two was a miracle ,he looks so healthy ,happy and loved ....the house is coming along beautifully too ❤
A temporary bodge for the roof tile overhang... A piece of string in each valley, extending down into the gutter. That will guide slow-flowing water down the string, away from the tile and wall, into the gutter.
After watching Theo pointing up your place I was watching a program showing a stone house for sale in Ireland that hasn’t been updated in 20 years and first thing I said was that needs to be pointed up😄.
You are one step closer in reaching your goals You and Bee are working hard to make this work and everything looks more beautiful with every passing day. Glad to see you both looking healthy and well. God bless.
I see your guttering problem. That roofing membrane could be arranged and supported with some timber to overlap the guttering to direct water into it, maybe. Currently, rain could dribble down the wall behind the guttering. You might avoid that if you can manage some jiggery pokery. Should last until you get the shed built.
To remove the paint from the stone block, try a stronger strength of mineral turpentine, plus use a wire brush. The turps should work pretty well, but the wire brush will really help things along! 😊
We have this guttering works superbly, we have very very heavey summer rains, the only difference is our over hang is much wider, we have space to walk dry under our over hang, and our windows can be left open during light rain, lovely building work, very neat work💜
Bea, it is so good to see you again. I've missed your ☺ face. The house is looking great!! Not long now for the big move. I love the way you coordinated the music with the awesome scenery. Looking forward to spending more time together soon. Love ya'll!! Take care n stay healthy.

correct ! the layer of underfelt normally overhangs the bottom edge of the tiles and finish in the centre line of the gutter
Exactly what I thought. Just some plexiglas or so.

Yep bang on. Unfortunately I think the brackets holding onto the tiles effectively prevent that. Shame.

You could collect the rainwater from the roof in a large tank and use it for watering.
Ali G, brilliant, good to have Bee back and great the guttering is on. It will back such a difference to the conditions inside the building along with the lime pointing ... well done guys. It's always a great feeling to tick a job off
The pointing looks amazing great start on gutters that old barn has had a wonderful face-lift I 💕 the way it's looking so far..
I just feel so happy watching the two of you working together. Its very very enjoyable. And I am so happy to see Bea back to her normal happy self........ Bea.. if you are not really happy you are doing a splendid job if hiding it.....huh???????God Bless you both and love you both very much.....
The guttering looks good. I never noticed that white stone. God bless y'all.
Fernando and Gingi adding to the fun! You all seem so happy.
What a great job!!! I’m so thrilled to see Bea back in the saddle. Take time out, guys so you don’t overwhelm yourselves. We love you!!
Theo rocking the future 2022 socks there looking great 😂. Great work guys, So lovely to see you both tackling it and succeeding. Keep it up
You two make me smile so much!
Wow, The place is really coming together. The pointing looks wonderful, good job Theo!
I so enjoy the filming of your sweet kitty's and the music is exquisite Bea!
Yes, Bee always edits w/such great music!!
Everything is going so nicely and you two will be moving in your home very soon! Great work both of you!!
Theo, you will never run out of little projects both new and updating - forever...
You guys are amazing taking on such a beautiful project. Here in the states finding something like that is impossible. Love you guys and truly appreciate what you're doing.
There are lots of places in upper New York state.
It would be so helpful to have a water tank to catch the water from your roof. You could plum it in to your kitchen sink. 😊😊
Wow you sound great speaking Swedish Bea, lovely to see you both content in your different jobs , you both look content, wonderful to see xxx
Are you putting a screen-type cap on the end so critters don’t move in and subsequently block the water’s path?
Your work is brilliant!
Also, you need gravel or something under the water outlet or you will erode the soil away during heavy rain.
Thank you for sharing your project.
Oooh. Screen cover sounds like a good idea.
And it COULD go into a guided cistern. Tgat water can be pumped out of.
Wow lots of typos.. Buried. And that
Well guys that was a very interesting vlog. Theo I had a good laugh when you said you come down to do a Cheeky little dump Cant wait to see you both working inside .Bea your looking so happy and loving being back.Take care
Liking your off grid tweaks, it’s inspiring
The Amish are known for their beautiful nearly perfect quilts. The patchwork is so perfect , one piece is deliberately sewn upside down to represent humility . As your white stone is repurposed it also represents a barn transformed into a beautiful home. When you see it's purpose it will no longer bother you .
I know you have a compressor Theo, so how about trying a needle gun to remove the paint from the stone on the corner of the barn?
I think the white stone gives the barn character. It can be a sentimental reminder of how much effort it took for Theo and Bea to rebuild the house.
Theo, with your accent, every time you said, "down pipe" I thought you said, "damn pipe"!! Those builders did you no favors. Yay on the shower, you two.
👍😎🇨🇦🐾🐾
Sitting in the comfort of my home, I love the life you two have built. Your home is really coming along.
I love how the chickens are just minding their own business while Fernando is out wollering in the dirt. lol
Theo's OCD works for him & he makes the best use of it. More people should be like you, Theo & take pride in what they do.
"Well away from the house" hehe, Theo said 'house' not 'barn'!! sounded natural too 🤔
Also, is it just me or are the chickens lookin especially fluffy? So adorable 🥰
Awe Bee your looking so good and happy. It's so exciting it's coming all together. Best part, like our van builds, is the final touches. Watching this video I was thinking what a beautiful environment the cats have and I love Gingy sunning on the rocks. Nice music too!! So glad your back Bee. Bless you both ❤
Masonary paint is usually water based so white spirit won’t affect it. Brick acid might work or use a grinder with a flapper disc
I wouldnt do it.
It would also annoy the crap out of me!
One way to remove the paint from the stone if no one suggested is with the grinder with a wire wheel. Just a suggestion!
Great improvement, happy for you!!! Theo has the craziest collection of socks in the world:)))
All the shots of the cats ! Beautiful.... Fernando is the luckiest cat alive,to have been found by you two was a miracle ,he looks so healthy ,happy and loved ....the house is coming along beautifully too ❤
Theo, leave the stone white. You can then call the property “ White Stone” I think it’s pretty cool…
Bobby L …….l.
Heavy rain will probably shoot over the front @5:56.
To remove the paint from the stone block, try a stronger strength of mineral turpentine, plus use a wire brush. The turps should work pretty well, but the wire brush will really help things along! 😊
In the meantime use felt or plastic brick damp course 9" roll to push under the eaves and drop into gutter, problem solved, Kev UK
We have this guttering works superbly, we have very very heavey summer rains, the only difference is our over hang is much wider, we have space to walk dry under our over hang, and our windows can be left open during light rain, lovely building work, very neat work💜
Use a grinder to remove the paint from the stone. It will do it and you will be careful and pleased.
Yep, or at least a metal brush or sponge
U guys are awesome... As a 30 year painter...that ladder was very dangerous as it was set....please be careful....you're on such a roll now...
Has anyone noticed that there are 323k subscribers? Bee and Theo that's some famous cats and chickens.😊
Darn impressive!! Wow. 🌺🌷🌸💕
It's nice to see not only is feel very caring of your feelings but also that you Bea , also caring of his feelings
Looks great 👍. Have you given any thought to saving your rain water for your garden or shower? 💜💙🐈⬛🐈
I love your videos so much. You can make it a "special" stone with the date you restored the barn and your names. Something creative....
Bea, it is so good to see you again. I've missed your ☺ face. The house is looking great!! Not long now for the big move. I love the way you coordinated the music with the awesome scenery. Looking forward to spending more time together soon. Love ya'll!! Take care n stay healthy.
