He sounded like he was slurring his words in this interview. Not sure if he "recovered" as much as he purported. Smoking and alcohol worked against him. He was the best game show host in my opinion.
Unfortuneately..Garry didn't stay with the show..he left"To Tell The Truth"as the series' second host/moderator..years later..when his doctor found cancer in Garry's throat and it had to be surgically removed.
Sometimes I feel like when people are forced to say “I’m an alcoholic” just keeps them in that state of mind, if you’re recovering then shouldn’t they say something like “I’m a recovering alcoholic” Or “it’s been 20 years ( whatever time it is ) since my last drink” They’re not alcoholics if that haven’t drank … Just saying
