"I'm not sure what the priorities are here". 1 The car that gets there first has priority, so it was you. 2 In the event of a tie, the car to your right has priority.
Welcome to "the states". You are going to have a great time. I've been watching Itchy Boots who was heading north in the early summer. Her videos are several weeks behind. The current videos have her in Canada headed to Alaska. Have fun, stay safe and remember to ride on the right. 😀
This was such a great surprise to wake up to! Can't wait to watch this adventure unfold at the breakfast table over the next few weeks. Good luck both! 👍
Flyer, Really enjoying the tour. Thanks for taking us along! No doubt it adds a lot of potential anxiety and much more to worry about. But its great! Great to see Mrs. Flyer along too...she's 'cute as a button'. Been through #9 and looking fwd to the rest as I know it just gets better. Thanks again
You’re lucky you got the bike you wanted. I did a tour of the west coast, I ordered a Jeep Cherokee but ended up with a crappy Buick. LA, SanDiego, all the way up to Seattle then home. Good times though. That was in my mid twenties, forties now. I’ve lost my confidence a bit after dealing with anxiety issues especially after the stupid lockdown 😤. I love your channel and the legend that is Freddie Dobbs. I long to get my confidence back to be able to do stuff like you guys. Keep up the good work 👍🏻🇬🇧
I did this tour in 2018 and am eagerly anticipating the rest of the series. I have taken 5 tours with Motorrad-Tours (Norway in 2017) and highly recommend them.
Wow, great trip and what a super series this is going to be folks. That’s the sort of stuff us bikers dream of and never underestimate how lucky you are to have Carol sharing your passion too because my Mrs would never get on a bike. Safe travels.🏍🇮🇪
Yes, I’ve been following itchy boots. Welcome to North America. I live in BC (Vancouver island in the SW of the province) and I will follow your channel while you travel. 😀
Haven't done Alaska but the Yukon is amazing. So much to see and do in Canada. Drove through the Rockies in Alberta in a car, would love to do it on a bike.
I like your tour videos with Mrs. Flyer, as she has always comes across as knowledgable and good humoured. Could we hear more from her, as she adds another dimension to your excellent narration on your tour vlogs. 😀
2 pairs of course....(BTW and not wishing to take anything away from Noraly's amazing and well deserved success, I was at this waaaay before she was!)....
Brilliant! I didn't get my bike licence 'till I was 50 (23 years ago) persuaded to do it by flying mates who were also bikers (the two interests often go together as you of course know). I signed up for a Motorrad Tour after just a year and a bit of motorcycling - Spain & Morocco! I explained to the tour organiser that I was pretty inexperienced but they said I'd be fine - and I was! By then I'd been through a VFR and a Blackbird (neither of which gelled with me) and had a 4 year old R1150GS, which I found suited me well except it was a tad tall for my 29" inside leg (this was before the days of lowered GS availability). I had an absolute whale of a time! I loved it! Your 'ride on the right' sticker looks a tad inconspicuous,. Coming off the ferry at Santander an experienced member of our group on discovering I'd never ridden on the right before took one of the white sticky tape labels the ferry company stick on your bike, tore off a 2-inch length, and stuck it on the RH side of my windscreen, folded round so it was stuck front and back of the screen, and always in my line of sight. "Keep the edge of the road on that side" he instructed. That tape did its job a couple of times on that trip. We gelled into a group of 30 or so mates on the 3.5 week epic, and met up for weekend rides after that holiday such was the camaraderie. I even took some of them for aerobatic experiences in our Chipmunk! Later, I did another Motorrad trip to the Italian Lakes with many of the mates who I did Morocco with. Not quite as much an adventure as the Sahara, but fabulous fun none the less, especially the Stelvio and other Alpine and Dolomite passes. Our tour leader to Morocco was absolutely superb; the one to Italy less so. I usually rode with a couple of more experienced bikers, but in these days of universal sat navs I might have risked some solo riding. I shall watch the rest of this series with interest! But to this day (although Motorrad make it easy by booking all ferries and hotels) I still find it amazing that I rode my bike from home in Cheshire to the Sahara desert and back.
Yes that's like I did with the Arctic tour - brilliantly organised these Motorrad trips....makes it easy for mere mortals like us to do this type of thing....
Another channel with a trip through Alaska and more? You’re giving my wanderlust quite a bit of kindling here and I’m quite excited for it! Looking forward to the rest!
Can’t wait to see more. Same latitude as the south of Norway. I had the same kind of foggy weather there in late July. I even had snow in mid summer there; so 🥶🥶. The polar circle is further away than you think. About a two days ride I guess with those speeds. Great surroundings. A lot more trees than in the mountain part of Norway.
Ha ha love the message at the first few seconds ! Yes I had to learn to capture it ! Playback speed slow as poss and pause skills come to play ! Good skills Can’t believe you had to post that .. Some people right !
Looking forward to this series and guessing at the route you will take through Canada. As a native resident of BC and Alberta I know your tour will indeed be "epic". Kind regards.🇨🇦
I'm so glad you made this trip as it's always been right at the top of my bucket list. Looking forward to watching right the way through. Sounds like all went well so congrats and cheers!
Scenic Overload is a real thing. My riding buddy and I completed all of the western US to complete the Lower 48 last year. You’re spot on about all of the incredibly diverse topography here in the US. Hope you have a wonderful tour. Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down man!
As I said to Itchy Boots a few episodes ago... Welcome to the good old U S of A !! It will be fun watching her travel north while you travel south. I imagine she was in the area a long time before you and the missus though. Safe & happy travels !!
Hi, we toured Yugoslavia in the late 80’s with Bike & Sun Tours in the uk on my Z1000 ELR, exactly the same setup, really enjoyed going places without getting lost!
Amazing Video Mr Flayer on your tour of Alaska and Canada. What great scenic views of the mountains and river as well. I would be stopping very ten minutes to take pictures of these amazing views. The BWM is a great choose of motorbike. Had to smile has was think about Itchy boots and her road trip and you mention her in video. It’s a place a loved to go one day. I have been to Canada once only for two day I played in a R&B festival. I look forward to next video soon.
I live only 45 mins from the US border. I love to ride in the US. Last month, first time since covid, i was down there riding the smokie mountains. A long way from my home town of Bolton. Enjoy the trip and watch out for wildlife.
Good to see you are doing something interesting. I’ve spent many months in this area on a bike in the early 90’s, and have gone through most of British Columbia down as far as Wyoming and back. It’s concerning you need a sticker to tell you what side of the highway to ride on ! Anyway, I’m sure it will be a good experience for you, and make you more experienced.
Man your video brought back memories. My wife and I were married at Ft Richardson, Alaska when I was stationed there with the US Army from 1976 to 1980. Fort Richardson in located between Anchorage and Palmer.
Looks like fun! I rented that bikes exact cousin from Motoquest in June (#18 to your #15) out of Portland, headed to Whistler, BC, Yukon territory and then back to Denali and onto Achorage. They spec out the bikes pretty simply but the bike was very reliable and well-maintained. Thanks for sharing your adventure!
Great to have you in North America! My riding area is Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana, so I hope to you have a great time and discover some fun rides to tell us about. Cheers, Jeff

Spent some time in Canada back in my Army days. Spent 5 days R&R driving through Montana to Yellow stone park, back up via the Glacier park (lots of Brown bears around at the time) had a great time Oh! and saw Old Faithfull. Looking forward to the rest of these
When you get to Washington state check out forest road 70 . Go through green water town and turn left on 70 . It’s got the best view I have seen in my life of mount Rainier.
Stunning countryside mate, great to see your better half riding with you. Also, interesting to note the “ride on right” sticker. Coming from Australia, I know sometimes you zone out and end up on the left hand side of the road. Especially when exiting a petrol station.
The gap in the doors in the rest rooms is to allow the stankie air to flow out of the stall. It is also for cleaning the floor with a wet mop and not stain the door with mop water. Also to get access to a person in trouble if the door is locked.
Having done the trip you're doing (I did it in 2018) I can safely say, it's up there with a ten out of ten marks. Simply amazing!!!. The Canadian Rockies are out of this world. You'll have a fantastic time. Looking forwards to watching this one. We went down as far as LA.

Looks like it'll be a fun trip -- absolutely stunning part of the country. Quite a long ways from the capital region here in Ontario, which isn't as majestic -- except in October with the leaves changing... makes for stunning colourful scenery. Safe travels!
@@TheMissendenFlyer I have five more days until I’m retired. I can’t see any reason that Alaska won’t happen next year. We’ve been looking to retire (once she retires in a few years) from California to Alaska. I’ll call it a scouting trip. 😁
Great ride. One of my fav rides. Someday hope you can travel from Tok to Delta Junction then on to Fairbanks, Spectacular views of the mountains. Then the road to Valdez and Homer. It's just so big, so much to see and experience. Blue skies, I've had them as well many times. Still a lot of good fortune to see the mountains. Glad you got to do this. The route to the south is great as well. The BMW is a suitable ride. Roll on roll off, plenty of torque and horsepoer for two up travel. Sometimes I wonder why I want to go anywhere else in the world. RTW.
Hey Mr & Mrs Flyer, I’ve done a bike trip across some of the ground on your planned route. One place I was amazed at was Utah, in particular Bryce Canyon National Park is simply stunning - its hard to believe it actually exists. Utah is a “target rich environment” for fantastic scenery anyway, but Bryce is a must do, even my wife agrees!! Have a great time.
Lovely to see these types of videos. My last trip to the states was summer 2019. I rented a bike in Vancouver and spent 2 weeks riding roughly south, ending up in LA. It was a fantastic trip, and this reminded me of how much fun riding in the states can be.
My wife and I are thinking of taking a trip on the Goldwing from Illinois to Canadian rockies then to Anchorage and back. So I am very happy to see your trip.
There were ocassions ob this trip (100 miles of dirt road, extensive roadworks for mile after mile in deep sand, etc) when we were glad we were on a GS!
TMF!!! Pleasant surprise to see you made it back to the Americas. Looking forward to your videos. Been following Itchy Boots on her travels in the opposite direction. Now I have too great RUclipsrs to watch as they travel our awesome province of BC! Safe travels 👍
Did BC and the Alberta Rockies by bike way back in 2003. Looking forward to seeing some of the roads I rode then and am sure you will on your tour. Started and finished in Whistler.
What a superb trip! I spent a season at Whistler BC in 1990/1, and think the Sea to Sky Hwy is just beautiful, and a trip I hope to make on a motorbike when I get back to Canada. Have fun
"I'm not sure what the priorities are here".
1 The car that gets there first has priority, so it was you.
2 In the event of a tie, the car to your right has priority.
Top priorities are "keep it rubber side down" , and "don't hit anything" !
Oh, this will be fun! Looking forward to having you nice folks in the US of A. Enjoy!
Thank you!
Rewatching this series again, this is defo on my bucket list. And the one you did to the arctic circle 👌
Both amazing trips….

I’m looking forward to watching it!
What a dream journey to head out on! Looking forward to the series.
Nice trip, I say! Enjoy the roads and the scenery. Packing must have been a challenge.
Yes and no - we had a support vehicle travelling with out large bags so it was all very civilised....
Really enjoying this first episode.
Rest assured, every US spec GS that you can actually buy comes with what BMW calls the “premium” package. It basically converts the bike from the stripped down model you rode into a bike that is probably indistinguishable from your TE version.
I am surprised BMW had such a basic bike for a rental? A bike with no cruise, proper sat-nav integration, ESA, etc. doesn’t make a very good impression and won’t help BMW sell many bikes.

Congratulations on going out, and getting out of the comfort zone, and having a real life experience that you'll never forget.
Glad you liked it! Stay tuned - loads more to come!

What a start to my day! Didn’t expect a quick trip to Alaska before my first cuppa…it was a wonderful way to wake up.
Happy to surprise!
Oh, hey... I didn't know you were in town! Thanks for visiting Alaska!
Awesome trip! As an expat and Alaskan I thank you sincerely! I'm excited for the whole saga now!

Our pleasure Graeme - this one is epic!
Did BC and the Alberta Rockies by bike way back in 2003. Looking forward to seeing some of the roads I rode then and am sure you will on your tour. Started and finished in Whistler.
What a great trip!!! I’m so jealous.
Delighted that you’re doing it on a GS, also familiar for you.
Ouh back on the bike again. Good ride for you.
What a superb trip! I spent a season at Whistler BC in 1990/1, and think the Sea to Sky Hwy is just beautiful, and a trip I hope to make on a motorbike when I get back to Canada. Have fun
Thanks for watching Brian....
