    Interesting video..Former Continental outstation ramper here. We didn't have supertugs but I remember getting a kick out of an article in Car& Driver magazine about it when CO started using them. Thanks 👍

      I had that magazine and you can find the article online, via pdf, the supertug was a great solution for progress.

      Yeah, in fact I did. I wanted to know what the difference between a regular tug and a Super Tug was, so did a search for SuperTug.

    What is the difference between a Super Tug and a Slow Tug? Kennedy Steve mentions them a lot.

    • @cicci0salsicci0
      @cicci0salsicci0 7 лет назад +12

      I think for Kennedy Steve, they are all slow.

    • @mariolobo01
      @mariolobo01  7 лет назад +2

      at 20 mph with tons on your back would you want a faster tug? no need, you can only go as fast as ground control directs you to.

    The 3rd TML-50 we just obtain has gotten the right kinks out pretty much. By the way Douglas ™ was acquired by a company called Curtiss Avionics? I think.

    Great video

  • @mariolobo01
    @mariolobo01  13 лет назад

    The TBL-50 has issues at least once every two weeks, we used to have Supertug 21, we currently operate Supertug 22 and 23, Supertug 21 was totaled, yet these vehicles are used 24/7 under all conditions, rain, snow heat etc, but worst of all are the drivers that are not as considerate as they could be, lots of issues but it does great despite the experimental aspect of its design, but its been improved by Douglas over the years.

      Chicago does not have a supertug program yet for Seattle. I’m hoping they do get one in the future. An email to a director or operations manager will plant the seed.

    Douglas Tugmaster in England, $500K-750K minus import fees. And its the maintenance issues that will arise, its not easy.

    Why airport authorities recruit only young people for airport operations?Why is it because they never get ill?Or is it because it is easy to shout at them or is it because they will be handsome at this age?

    • @mariolobo01
      @mariolobo01  3 года назад

      Let me clarify: The Port Authority does not recruit for the airline, they hire their own. Supertug is a United Airline operation group. We have people of all ages, both men and women. At least that is how it works here. I’m a trainer and my main concern is safety and initiative not looks, ha ha. This video was made ten years ago so all the young are now aged and still here.

  • @liamweaver2944

    It’s kind of like a mediocre tug, I wouldn’t call it a super tug.

    • @mariolobo01
      @mariolobo01  4 года назад

      Liam Weaver its a supertug in relation to a normal ramp tug. It pulls 777-200 and 777-300 if need be and 787, so what exactly makes it mediocre?

      +Mario Lobo I drive a terberg shunter sometimes its for moving truck trailers into and out of loading bays .I like to take a drive off a super tug and pulling a plane. I don t think i could just walk up to a airport and say i want to go for a burn(drive) they might think this is a terrorist .

    • @mariolobo01
      @mariolobo01  8 лет назад

      +John O Brien , ok, I wasn't familiar with the brand Terberg or your terminology, but its similar mechanics, but the fastest it'll go is 20mph or 30km per hr. and it wont jump into speed, it will accelerate really slow. the proprtions are weird, its based on a british vehicle but you sit in the middle and the cab is off-sided. minor suspension, so itcan be hard on the body if you dont watch the bumps. Newer models are better in suspension.

    • @johnobrien2207
      @johnobrien2207 8 лет назад

      +Mario Lobo Nice toy to drive .But i suppose if your driving one every day the novity goes . I suppose the load of safety regulations and paper work are as heavy as the aeroplane you are shunting.

    • @mariolobo01
      @mariolobo01  8 лет назад

      These have very little suspension, they are good when new but you gotta be focused always.
