- Repeated notes on the piano: they tend to be a fun piano party trick and pretty rewarding to play once you have them down. Today, I break down the process of learning repeated notes, showing you how I play them and talking through how they are used in classical music. Of course, sky's the limit with how you decide to use them!
One quick note:
- When I mention the circular motion involved in playing faster repeated notes, I just wanted to emphasize that seeing that is normal in case you have any questions on that.

How about doing a tutorial on Trills? That would be great!
Amazing video! I've been looking for a tutorial for this kind of technique for a while and I finally found it, your explication is really completed and dedicated. Thank you so much!
Happy to hear that it helped you out :)
By far the best video for this lesson On YT. Dude you deserve far more subscribers and popularity ❤️❤️. Keep it up and thanks for such amazing content.☺️
All videos on RUclips about repeated notes are how to play them fast...but I want to know how to play half and quarter note repeated notes and make them sound good instead of bland. This is for the right hand playing the melody (lyric portion) of a song while the left hand plays chords...this particular song has two measures of G notes in half and quarter notes (4/4 time) because the song is sung that way, but on the piano it sounds "dead".
Thanks a Lot for clarity
Its the hardest piano technik ever, because it depends also on piano how fast u can play repeated notes
Beautiful explanation. Thanks a lot Esther for this 🎶
My pleasure :)
Greaaaaat jooob thaaank you for sharing 😍😍❤❤❤
U r on insta right?
why you stopped making viedos?
Hello! I know I'm late to the video, but my fingers keep on rubbing on the keys causing me to be slower. Do you have any other recommendations?
I scratch my finger with my nail by doing this. Have any more tip?
Very useful. Thank you very much. It's hard to me to play repeated notes on my Arius YDP-164 with GH3 action. Pretty sure it's my fault. I need to practising more and develop my technic.
Is the action not capable of doing repeated notes?
@@rizki.adhipraja I'm pretty sure the action it is. It's the Clavinova action, so probably is my fault.
@@franciscocalvo1980Sorry i asked such question. I'm planning to buy YDP-164 next month, but still afraid that the action is not capable of doing such a thing. All of its reviews aren't testing repeated notes for the action and it's only raised my doubt more. Thank you for the clear answer. Definitely will buy YDP-164
@@rizki.adhipraja Hi. I'm not trying to avoid your question...I'm saying that probably I'm not able to do key repetition in the proper way (regarding what repetition key is supposed to do). I just tried to do the repetition simply stroking with one finger of each hand repteadly as fast as I could, with the only problem to find the exactly point to release the key and stroke it again. Keep in mind this is a quite heavy action compared with Kawai KDP-100 (wich I tried side by side), so I think my fault I'm not used to that action yet. Probably it's easier to play repeated notes on GHS (YDP-164 wich I tried as well), but it doesn't mean this is a better action than GH3. As probably you already know, key action is about preferences, too, so I encourage you to try before buy. In the other hand, P-515 action is even heavier and you can watch YT where people has no problem with it
@@rizki.adhipraja The only video I remember watchin play repeated notes on YDP-164 is "Yamaha Arius YDP-16 The Booth #7", starting about 25:10.
