Thank you for showing the difference!! The difference was insane!! I definitely love the colours of the 1st gen more ! I was honestly so close to buying the ivy 2 but I already have an instax mini print if I wanted that “vintage look”, I want the accurate colours for the prints I intend to make on this printer! Definitely glad I watched your video first before clicking that checkout button! Saved myself a few bucks too purchasing the 1st gen Ivy instead!

Great review and I agree! I’m returning an Ivy 2. The 2 does print a little brighter without adjustment but loses detail. It’s also a little bigger and the build quality feels less than the first. I turn up brightness and saturation on the original to +30 each and get good results. In my comparison, I used the same pack of Canon Zink. So paper is not the issue. The original has better detail. The brightness and saturation can be adjusted to remedy my concerns with original. I do find having to adjust each time annoying, but not a big deal.

Thank You for the review Cheryl. Super helpful since I was looking at upgrading my Ivy printer. And because of you I plan on saving my $100. One thing I will add regarding being surprised with how your 3rd photo came out. I have found that the print quality is not similar from one print to another with the Zink paper, even if I print the same photo. I think it has to do with the quality control of the Zink paper itself. So maybe the yellow tint in the second generation is just due to that specific batch of Zink paper? Just a thought.
I’m glad the video was helpful!:) And thanks for telling me! I think you have a good point! When I printed with the first gen, I used my old Zink papers. However, for IVY 2, I used the pack that came in the box. There were a couple of times that I printed the same photo with the first gen and haven’t noticed any inconsistency yet. I’m gonna print more out with the Zink papers I already have + IVY 2. I’ll let you know!

@@taniadelossantos7937 I have the Ivy 2 (the Inspic Japanese version) and the pics come out 💯 better and more accurate than in this video. I also have the original Canon Ivy which is really sub par to the newest generation. With the 2 the colors are bright, sharp and accurate, with the original they’re washed out and have a yellow-ish hue. So for a zink printer the Ivy 2 performs exceptionally well. The little dye printers however of which I have the Kodak Retro 201r and the bigger Canon CP 1500 blow the zink printers out of the water however, hands down. 📸 💡

I’m so glad I found your videos because I’ve been looking for a mini printer to add more cute stuff to my journal!!! I got the 2nd gen and at first I didn’t like it but the way it prints out with certain pictures is making it grow on me lol. But I can always change the settings so it’s okay. Might get the 1st gen but that’s just me getting too excited 😆

Hi! Stupid question, maybe you've just answered too... have you tried to print againg the same photo on the 2 printers from zink paper from the same package? Using the same app... cause maybe there are changes in the papers or in the app?! Let me know, if you want! Thanks for your reviews, very accurate. I come from a polaroid mint, i really want to go on a usb-c device, which means probably Ivy 2 or Liene, but i have fear to miss the camera standalone function!

Hey there, I am not sure if you are still reading these but any advice between the two would be helpful. As you seem very observant. I wanted the 2, however after getting a Polaroid Hi-Print I wanted a bit of a glossier finish, even if the quality is slightly less.
Question 1: Out of these two, which one has less lines and looks more like a professional photo? I notice the Zink (zero ink) printers have more lines than the regular Kodak/Polaroids, but which one has less distortion and ink lines out of the two?
Question 2: Do you think the Ivy 2 is a bit more blurry due to any lines if the 1 has them from the printing? Curious.
I'm not sure what lines you mean, but there shouldn't be any visible lines on the photos. Some viewers have mentioned visible lines to me, which is unacceptable, so I told them to return it.
If you want to print regular-size quality photos (4x6), I'd suggest the Kodak Dock.

I bought the first gen today and all my photos are way magenta even calibrated it 3 times with 2 different blue sheets 😭
How did you calibrate with blue sheets?
Do you guys have an idea why I'm getting a white edge on the upper side of the photo when printed? I did some pints with my new ivy 2 but, it lools like the image go down a little bit on the paper and crops fiew milimeters on the bottom part and then the withe part on the upper side of the photo.
Hmm, weird. Try pinching in and out on the photo in the app to make sure the photo is centered and fully fits.
I feel like if they're trying to force a certain look of the photos it's bad even if you like the result. Like, it's a printer, not a filter. If the user wants a certain effect they can make it without a piece of tech forcing their hand 🤔

Can’t agree more! I would rather edit the photos by myself before printing if I want a certain look so at least I have control over it! 😀
Could you have mixed up them 13:10 ? Also no overheating issues writing more then 5 in a row?
I marked it in the back of the photo as I printed it! So far, no overheating issues and I usually print more than 5 in one setting!

At 4:45, you use old smart sheet to set new media, that is why your IVY2 can't print better performance than IVY. For your reference.
Could you explain what this means. Is this a setting in The app?
@@TickledPinkTeri It is a setting in printer firmware. Printer firmware will get media information from blue smart sheet before a formal printing. A suitable smart sheet brings good performance.

Selphy is better in my opiniom but works differently. Does not print fotos instant like Canon. Canon is more fun if you do like to make journal of photo album. Selphy i would say is more fun if you wanna hang your photos.

Yep! You can choose to keep them as regular photos or stick them onto your journal or something!
What do you think about Canon Zoemini? Is it better than Canon Ivy 1?

@@CherylGoer I bought the Ivy 1! I live in Europe and they seem to only sell the Ivy 2 here. I saw only one Ivy 1 at a retailer and it was € 40 more then the Ivy 2! So I bought the Ivy 1 second-hand :)

You can try to edit each photo before you print, try turning down the saturation. If you have the Lightroom app, you can also turn the yellow down!

I think you were being too generous to Canon. They don't advertise a "nostalgic look." It's more like a decrease in quality due to cost-cutting. Why impose a certain filter when there are so many available?
I see that the Ivy 2 is on sale for $69 (Dec 3, 2023). I was going to buy it but I think I understand why Canon is trying to get rid of them, thanks to your review.

Yea, ZINK technology is horrible IMO, especially for skin tones. You are much better off going with an Instax printer.
