I appreciate her sense of humour and wonder if she’s still alive/where her path took her. My guess is she’d be in her 80s by now if she had been a nun for 10 years already at the time of her interview.
@@gerardacronin334 Not austere, as you'd expect with a nun. Plus she was 31/32 here, so although it might be a cheeky observation, she was probably at the height of her libido here, and possibly flirting subconsciously with Byrne.
Flirting? I imagine she was doing her very best to appease a modern audience. She showed guts and intelligence. I hope you don’t mean flirting in a sick way. I really hope you don’t!
This is why I love RUclips. What a lovely flash back and eye opening. She’s an Indian nun from 40 years ago , and she’s such a modern woman , why can’t she be nun and dress like an Indian, if the Catholic Church embraced her ethos they might have more members today
She's really cute. I think Sister Candita almost turned Gay Byrne into Straight Byrne. I definitely think he had a bit of a crush on her. Couldn't blame him though.. maybe it's just force of habit.
Badddam-psssh!! 😂😂👍🏿 She's not pretty by wide standards but still appealing in bygone era way. I don't remember Gay being gay so he may well have developed a soft spot for her ❤️❤️👍🏿
@@jaybee2402 Yeah, at least to me there's definitely something very attractive about her. Her personality is very sweet also. I think what we see as attractive has changed a lot over the years, probably what we see in media etc influences it. Most of the women celebrities that people think are beautiful don't really appeal to me, I tend to like unconventional beauty, and a lot of bygone era beauties, but maybe I'm immune to it as I don't really I don't even follow modern day TV or music or even know any of today's famous people. Oh old Gay definitely was straight. I think he was married and had kids. I was just making an immature and somewhat dumb crack about his name being Gay, and that she was so cute she could almost change his name to Straight. 😂 I definitely think he had the hots for her. The way he described her as gorgeous before she even came out and when she said he was ten years too late he was laughing like a schoolboy and saying "shucks!" "that's the story of my life!"
Nuns always seemed odd people to me perhaps because my mother any of the many times she was unhappy would say she is leaving and joining the nuns in a convent so its ingrained in my mind that these must all be unhappy women who also left their homes because they were unhappy. Which I know is silly of course.
I heard the same thing in my family, but I was taught by nuns in my early childhood and their life seemed so much better than my mother's and other women in our neighborhood. They had jobs, a pleasant convent to live in, many of them drove cars, they enjoyed many of the same things as non-religious people, like going out to the movies. They didn't have drunken husbands to cope with, as did two neighbor women. Oh there were several nasty nuns but the majority were intelligent and thoughtful about the educational process.
What a great interview and such a dynamic personality. Very modern outlook for someone in a convent over 60 years ago.... miles ahead of her.times in the Church of 1960s...most Sisters of that era were still in old Habits and strict rules so she is years ahead of her times..Good one.
What a lady, I hope her life was full of joy and happiness.
What a pleasant and strong willed lady. I hope she shaped many lives for the better.
This footage it utterly wonderful and what a fabulous lady. Surely an example to us all to be warm, kind and friendly.
What a wonderful strong confident soul
Amazing seeing Gay at this stage of his Late Late career. So young and so professional. There will never be another presenter like him
Beautiful ❤️
A complete natural.
I would love to meet this lady for a cup of tea. What a rebel.
India working Democracy politically Thomas since won Independence in 1947. She excellent in explaining it.

She said she was 10 when India became independent (in 1947) so if she was born in 1937 she would be 85 now. She is a really fun lady!

What fun! Mother Teresa and her crew came up with a lovely 🥻/like outfit that looked Indian and also conformed to religious stricture.
"Talk what you know about"....End message...
Lovely to see that at least some of them were nice people..
What a beautiful gift we have with these archives. Liberation Theology in full flight.

God damn please tell me that's not Gay Byrne????!?!
'Tis.
Sure he never changed a bit
Gay Byrne isn’t Gay Byrne. Happy now?
I suppose before she came on, she was in the powder room putting make up on, trying to impress the lads....
Senseless
Not a great name, to be honest 🤣
Beat me to it........😁
Ok... what's the gag, then?
His second name is Mary, Gabriel Mary Byrne.
It's better than h2O
I wonder what horrors this woman saw in India and ireland, and all in the name of God.
I wonder what good she saw.
