As of September 2016 you go to *Settings -> Sounds and vibration -> Notification sounds*. I couldn't find it through this video another a guy's vid from the UK. Happy I found this myself as it was getting annoying.

for those who cant see media folder ! - Go to device storage make a folder name it media then in media make a folder audio then in audio folder make a folder notification n pase ur ringtone in notification folder ! it works 💝💝
Dude thank you so much.I'm an auxiliary firefighter and only the squad and battalion leaders get dispatcher devices.So most of us rely on their phones when we need to rush to an emergency and I finally got to install a specific ringtone for when I get the automatic text message for an emergency.The ringtone is the instrumental theme of "Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue" lol.Have a nice day!
just info : if you dont find media or notifications folder,you can make that folder and move them and now you can change the ringtone to your favourite ringtone : )
Clarence ds__ try searching for one of the folders that are inside in media, as shown ;p i had only the notifications folder for example :D no media! and it worked for me
I don't know if this will help or not, but in my phone I had to go to this folder: Device Storage>Mobile Content Transfer>storage>emulated>0... and inside that "zero folder was the main set of folders shown in the video here, including the "media" folder.

I accidentally deleted my 'notification' and 'media' folders while i was trying to clear space on my phone. now it's impossible to find this routing into the notification tone location to get any mp3's or sounds in there. Any ideas or am i just screwed.
what if I want to change the sound for a specific app for example Facebook...I don't want the same notification sound as RUclips let's say.....can this be changed

[See below for solution!] (Wonder if it had something to do with the ZEdge Ringtone app? I since deleted it and I believe I reset all of my app defaults correctly too.) Didn't know if it would work or not (because I thought it was some "special system folder"), but just followed the paths that should be there and added every folder as needed. I had to add the "Media" folder under "Internal Storage" (Internal Storage is the same thing as Device Storage for my version of S7 ((and for those whom it may help)) as of this writing) > "Audio" > "Notifications". Worked like a CHARM! Thanks BRUH! You are genius!

i deleted mine to trying to remove some space is it possible to recover it
