    I've studied hiccups a lot. I can tell this would work cause it's stretching your diaphragm. But I also know how to stop them when you've had them a while.
    Hiccups only happen when you are inhaling. So holding your breath would temporarily prevent them 90% of the time. And drinking water is a good method, but you can't drink water forever and you may stop and it still wasn't long enough to relax the spasms. So the best way is this: And your welcome, cause you wont hear this anywhere else.
    Take a deep breath fast, and in stead of holding your breath, slowly exhale. While you are exhaling focus on not hiccuping. When you exhale all of your breath, then quick inhale an entire breath, and repeat. Slowly exhale while focusing. And repeat. In about 3 - 4 breaths the hiccups are gone. You may experience 1 or 2 during this process, but the spasm is relaxing and going away.

      But I just realized breathing in then pressing on my stomach with a fist then flexing my abs helped me burp it out.

      yeah if I miss the first hiccup I have to hold my breathe and gulp water. But love this, especially when I am out and about

      What I love about this hack is that you can be anywhere, and it works!
