It’s had a regulator change on the psu The old way of doing the FM audio as described in the midnight express which did work quite well back in the day The eprom is a spectrum one I’d of bolted that to the chassis and never understood why they cut all the tracks when the selector is off the main board and runs back on wires You’d only need to cut one track then Much neater with the microchipz boards installed Great work as always
It’s for giving the uk40 readout it just changes the pll codes , it sits in between the channel change and pll , and would have to programmed in a special programmer.
The use of Blu Tack in a radio was a first for me and looking at the pad size I’m surprised it fell off!😂Out of interest where did you source those bulbs?.Ace video as usual.👍
I don't understand why people think that playing with the slug in the VCO block will improve things as the PLL circuit in these rigs are pretty poor at best and it is already tuned for best performance at the factory. I really do think that trying to get more bandwidth from this PLL stage is like trying to get blood out of a stone. Just Saying🤔
@@MicroChipz I'm currently playing with the SI5351A which is producing a cleaner waveform in a COX board with out the need for the PLL, VCO or band crystals but I can't modulate FM TX. But I'm working on the FM problem and think I may have cracked it.
Shouldn't be too hard to modulate the FM signal i think ? Keep us posted on your findings. You are more than welcome to share your project in my Facebook group if you have that social media.
Had one of these early 90's was a great set. Lots of banks of 40 channels, alphas and I had an ES 880 echo chamber sitting on the top of it. Don't think It had the modulation mod done so was low base sounding but the tinniness of the chamber balanced it out. Everyone said It sounded great....happy times! oh and mine had handles on the front??

Thanks. I do like the cybernet bases radios , always had a thing for the jumbo or the marko excalibur mk2. i have concordes and mm2's. i am liking the mm2 more these days , they are a cracking radio when setup right .
Hi - the jumbo are good radios when set up correctly- I have a mk1 that’s had the fm audio mod done ,only issue is with a power mic it’s wide as a barn door Any idea how to solve that issue Carl

So what was that eeprom for? And was was programmed inside and where was it connected to ?

The LED's are from eBay. search for filament led or COB led 3v.

A expanded VCO squeezes a little more out of the circuit, its the RX and TX stages that let it down after that.

I suppose alter the dev to suit a power mic . I find they work just nice with the standard mic.
