It's my all-time favourite multiband mobile rig. It's a good-looking set, I bought an Alinco DR 135 During lockdown and a Modulator 2. Still to this day boxed! Good vlog.

i have one of these how can i visualy tell if the RF bios mod and alc mod have been done ? 3:35

I have one of these radios that was converted to the 50mhz amateur band, it's a bit of a rats nest with the mods, they retuned it by adding capacitors to the coils to make them resonate on 50mhz. The reciever on it is brilliant especially when there is some sporadic E about!!.

Why not flash the OS directly to the SSD with an SSD-dock, why install on the SD-card first?

Nice work! I have a TF930 and I love it. I have it connected to a GPSDO via a BNC socket input that I added to the rear panel. I prefer the TF930 over a HP counter I have sitting next to it. :)

Hello, interesting tech,, I've a question: does this radio come standard with 10m as, or is it modified for it? Also, does it work on uhf and vhf? What would be the settings for this?

Hi, hope that you can help me or point me in the right direction. The thing is I was given an Icom 1050 CB radio. It all works fine, spot on power wise. But something is off when using the Hi/Lo power switch. As I came to put it on low power, and I lost the signal of my friend. But did a bit of playing with it, as I have a frequency counter, and seen that all of the channels when on low power had been 5kHz apart and not 10kHz and also above the normal frequency. Can you tell me what the mod might be, and is it easy to get it back to operate JUST on the 40 CB channels. Look forward to your reply. Bye for now from Knobby.

Nice looking radio that one!!. An suggestion for the AVR circuit in these radios to make them more stable is to replace the transistor AVR with either the 78xx voltage regulator ic or the LM317 adjustable voltage regulator ic but don't forget to put 0.1 uf capacitors on the input/output of these ic's.

Don't leave it set to 5 watts because legality aside you'll end up with smoke coming out of the radio and melted coils. 🙂 🙂 🙂 And ensure you do a full set of SINAD readings.

Graham i think youl find the lttle board you refered to is a roger beep if i remembered corectly from the eighties when i was doing repairs and mods. it would seem as though nothing has changed with regards to the screwdrivering abortions. thnak you for sharing you bring back some good mamories thank you.

I have a NATO 2000 I had it recapped peak and tuned doing 20 peak watts.How many watts do you think you can get out of it?

These radios where sold by a company on the isle of man who originally sold them as a kit of spare parts to get around the legal problems, then they sold them just operating on the cb 27/81 band along with other naughty radios that had been made "legal"!!.
