You can wear them in the house and during commuting to wherever you are going, bus, plane, tram, metro. But not while walking. I wore them once walking, and felt uneasy. First time I wore such noiseless headphones I got the feeling I was dancing while walking and that everyone can hear the music... very weird feeling. Nevertheless, I use them only in public transport, at home I have a sound system ready to rock the whole neighborhood (but I use it reasonably too, so that my neighbors won't get irritated).

Re: Story #1 As someone who works in Skid Row in Los Angeles, I have run into many homeless people who once held interesting positions--lawyers (even a former judge), touring musicians of popular artists, businessmen... It wouldn't be much of a stretch to believe someone who was once in the medical field is now homeless. Mental illness and drug addiction can affect nearly anyone. I wouldn't be so quick to assume that all homeless people were always destitute.

He knew that she had a rainbow tattoo on her back, he disfigured her and carved F A T on her torso... And Bowie didn't react aggressively, like he knew the person... The carving of the letters definitely implies she was killed for whovever or whatever F A T is. Meaning this could have been some kind of revenge killing that was only personal to her life. Also possible though is this is a wannabe serial killer leaving a 'tag' on their crime. Katie’s story definitely screams the culprit being more than one person to me. She was in a park, had a pitbull that no doubt tried to protect her, there’s no way one attacker could’ve done that much damage. They knew about the tattoo, indicating knowledge of her or maybe someone (like an ex) knew her, and given the time frame and circumstances (ie the cameras somehow not working), it had to have been planned to some degree. The initials being carved into her while she was alive, the face brutalization, all of that tells me her death was meant to be torturous for her and to send a message of some kind to others, not some random attack.

On Katie and Bowie, just some guild guesses to add: the killer could have been watching their late walkings for a few days, or even weeks. Might have followed her home, seen her with her fiancé, noticed Bowie was shy, noticed she had earphones on all the time, and on that night felt confident enough to attack.

What they should have done after the first assault is arm themselves with more than kitchen knives, bought better locks, installed a security system (if possible), and begged the police to run a stakeout. Two men sitting in the front seat with binoculars are much more obvious than a cop sitting in the back of a van watching through a peephole camera or tinted windows. As a former PI, I’ve very rarely failed to spot a person approaching or leaving a house, and in the handful of times I did, the other team saw them. Whoever had it out for them obviously felt it was personal, but who or why is anybody’s guess. It's interesting that many people jump to the conclusion that this was a stranger when many things point to it being personal. The dog may have been familiar with the person and that many stab wounds indicates it was personal. Remember, besides the fact that over 90% of people are murdered by someone they know, it is extremely rare for a serial killer to take a lot of time with a victim unless it's in a secluded space like a home or building. There seems to be major rage behind this. Tori Lang case happened in the county I live in and totally different in nature and not really that close to this story. So it definitely wasn't some rando. They probably knew her habits and knew she visited that park to walk her dog, and also knew that the security cameras were out. I would have thought this would help the police narrow down suspects, but many of the stories you cover feature police incompetence and corruption, so this is likely another example of that.

The last case reminds me of the Cindy James case … it also reminds me of this other case I saw on an old episode of forensic files where an elderly couple was getting sick over and over again with no explanation. The police thought it was the husband poisoning his wife and feigning illness but when he died and lethal levels of poison were in his system that theory went. Long story short it ended up being their neighborhood errand boy that just came over to lend a helping hand and be like a surrogate grandson out of the kindness of his heart. He got them to sign some financial documents and then he started picking up their groceries for them as a favor and that’s when he would slip in the poison. So sometimes these cases are just literally people in the background that you would never suspect or even think about and that’s how these type of perps want it. I think it’s important for family and friends to check up on each other and be more present to see who our loved ones are letting into their lives whether it’s a neighbor, handyman, church acquaintance or anyone outside of the normal circle of people cus you never ever know peoples intentions. 😳

How do you think this could make sense? Do you truly believe they wouldn’t be able to tell that the caller (who might I add, there’s no record of them masking their voice) was someone they knew personally on a deep level? Dorothy literally saw the person who attacked her and didn’t give a name. She had no clue. Phone numbers are on a public record with phone books. It’s not at all a stretch to assume the person devoted all their time to learning every bit of their lives and had the resources available to do it. They may be a thing of the past, but even now most people are on public record in some capacity with almost all of their personal information available online. It has only gotten worse over time.
Not to mention, no ideas were presented via the handwriting on the letters. If your theory is to be believed, this is either the most botched case in history or the Wackers were suffering from some kind of mental illness preventing them from remembering personal information. The fatal flaw here is that the only information we have on this now is via the Unsolved Mysteries wiki which teases this theory. The police were so brazen as to even suspect Bill for this, allegedly, when evidence pointed to otherwise. How could a man in his late 60’s-70’s do all of this so fast? This case is a mess.
The truth is that this stalker is most likely someone they met only maybe a handful of times, or someone that randomly chose them.

I was thinking it could be someone working in law enforecement, since the person knew how to get through the stake out. Stalking someone like that requires a lot of work, even if they know them. Could be someone who wanted to get their hands on their property, though nine years is a long time to keep at it without taking things further. It might not be an individual either, but a group or couple who work together. Leaving notes and callling is one thing, but physically showing up to hurt her is on another level. Yet the person didn't severely hurt her, and didn't hurt Bill. I also find it a bit odd that the person eventually stopped, and that no one else has reported anything similar-- that kind of behaviour is so antisocial and obsessive that giving it up after nine years and not acting out in other ways or towards other people seem strange. But why the couple didn't move is what I find the strangest, I know it's not everyone who can afford to move on a whim and that they could be attached to the place-- knowing someone is stalking you and has entered your home in the past would be a very good reason to save up everything you can to move.

side note: this story brings up the memory from 2019 when my girlfriend and i were walking home from a bar off of ponce back to the virginia highlands area and noticed a barefoot dirty shirtless man swinging a hatchet around while walking down the street… so honestly, an opportunist passing through being the perpetrator wouldn’t be too surprising. though, i really hope not.

A friend of my family’s ex wife stalked him for 14 years (she had, in the meantime, had married twice, her second marriage ending with that husband’s death). I had to preemptively talk to my managers to head her off before she made trouble for me at work. They were flabbergasted at how long she had been harassing our family and stalking her ex. In the end the neighbor did get that lot and his business is still there in 2022. That all happened in the early 1980s.

I wish her family, friends, and fiancé peace and healing.

The first story is extremely unnerving as it happened very near to where I go to school. I remember when the news about Katie got out, everyone was freaking out and kept posting about it on social media. Sadly, the buzz died down as soon as it first started with no new leads from the case. What made me more disturbed was when my friend and I were talking about it and she mentioned how we were at the same exact spot where Katie was last seen on video footage(the rainbow road) a few days ago...
This murder was deeply devastating and my heart goes out to Katie's family, I hope authorities will come up with something eventually.

I am an Atlanta native born in May of 1969 and Piedmont Park is one of mine and my daughter’s favorite places and it is an incredibly beautiful place but though I’d absolutely love to live in that exact area I honestly would never go there alone during the night even with my dog. This story absolutely wrenches my soul for this lady and her precious dog! I have so many amazing memories of being in that park even back to my childhood and knowing that this brutal murder happening there just deeply effects me to the pit of my soul. I pray that she and her precious boy are together now in a much better place. 💔😞🙏🏻

On the first case, hear me out my fellow sleuths.
1: I don't think it was the fiance. She was at work, with witnesses, and I'm sure they got a pretty accurate time of death to rule her fiance out by having loads of staff and customers as witnesses. Her alibi is pretty air tight.
2: I would never rule out a mentally unstable stranger, be it homeless or otherwise. But, I don't think that is the answer. None of her possessions were stolen, you would think that if the motivation was robbery,or even as an after thought, someone begging for food would have managed to steal something. Anyone who did this would be absolutely covered in blood after that many stab wounds on Katie and Bowie, carving words into her, and the mutilation of her body. Any mentally unstable homeless person with no car to hop in close by would probably be seen. It's possible, but not probable.
3: Due to the very personal nature of the attack, I think the culprit knew Katie, but she may not have known her attacker all that well (or at all). I'll go more deep into that in a second. Stabbing someone that many times is really hard work, not to mention they targeted her face, tattoo, and took the time (in the entrance of a park completely exposed) to carved a very personal message on her stomach. That screams personal, whether that is a perceived grudge that she knew nothing about or something that may have happened, but she blew off as not that serious. Whatever the case, it was personal for the murderer.
4: I'm going to float a few people who were left off the list of people who could definitely have done this and still flown under the radar. The first one I would love to hear if the police checked are coworkers of her fiance. I can't tell you how many times I've had coworkers develop unwanted feelings and the need to try and force some sort of relationship with me. Her coworkers would know that Katie comes in as her routine, they would know her fiance's schedule, they would no doubt have been introduced to both the dogs, and if they were a man feeling that the fiance should be with them because they felt Katie was too fat, too ugly, and of course because she was a woman... that would explain all the very personal attacks on specific body parts. On top of this, Katie would probably have already met them, so they could get right up on her, chat with her, squat down to "pet" Bowie before taking the pup out first since they would be the biggest threat. Also none of the murderer's blood was found at the scene or in the dog's mouth, so I don't think Bowie even had a chance to react and defend either of them. I do believe Katie tried to defend Bowie, began taking defensive wounds, turned to run, then was struck on the neck and taken down. It seems more logical to the evidence that has been presented. Then, they could run to their car and just drive away.
5: A stalker of either Katie or her fiance. The same scenario above can account for a stalker for her fiance, maybe Katie hadn't met them like with a coworker, but since she does the walk-the-doggo-in-the-park as a routine...a stalker could definitely be a local routine customer and have stopped Katie to ask to pet the dogs regularly. Most dog owners love showing off their fur babies, especially pittie owners, since they are such love bugs. It wouldn't have been hard to establish a friendly relationship with a pittie, and could explain again why they were able to get so close without Bowie attacking. If they were stalking Katie through her nightly routine, maybe they had asked her out, found out she was a lesbian, and that pushed them over the edge. If they were stalking her fiance, the same scenario as the coworker could have taken place.
6: Katie's stalker was one of *her* coworkers or customers as a bartender. You get closer to your coworkers and regulars after a bit. You share things about your life, and if you add coworkers to your social media... well they have a window into your life that you may not realize. Not to mention, I share stuff about my dog a lot easier than I do about anything else in my life. It wouldn't feel unsafe to talk about your pet and what they like, places you go with them, or fun routines. Just because the murder took place near her fiance's work, doesn't mean it had to have anything to do with her fiance. They just knew her routine really well.
These are the things I think should be combed over by the police, dig deeper into anyone who may have been a coworker with a night off, or an overly friendly regular from both women's jobs.

I'm going to suggest... someone was a regular to the park. You don't have to be homeless to be a regular at the park, spontaneously take an interest in someone... and turn stalker-ish to find out more about them, no matter how guarded they might be.
As you say, particularly (for some reason) pittie owners are proud of their dogs and LOVE to share them with other people. Unfortunately, even that I rather hate the notoriety pit's had in the past for dog-fighting and inbreeding... Too many shows like "Pitbulls and Parolees" and "Too Cute" and anything with Cesar Romirez have informed people how undeserved the label is (provided the pitbull has a relatively clean bloodline)... SO they're not the abominable monster that they used to be...
AND finally, ANYBODY can become homeless. It's a sad reality in our society. Just because someone has some medical training, or even a lot of medical training, it doesn't make them actually graduate med' school. Almost anything can disrupt their chosen academic direction, and land them in "dire straits"... and after "the chain of events" and getting overloaded... They're on the streets with nothing...
BUT it doesn't require someone to be homeless to be regular at the park... AND since she was predictable, that might even be where Katie met him/her (probably him)... A relatively charismatic stranger at the park, good clothes, "clean cut"... funny... That's all it takes, really. Hell, I'm a biker with black leather 90% of the time I'm in public... scruffy wind-battered beard, a "resting bitch face" series of lines developing in my mid-40's... AND people come up all the time with jovial small talk... laugh at my remarks... even my darkest humor (and former Navy on a Gator Freighter who's seen action, so it's pretty dark)...
I'm not saying it's just that easy... obviously. BUT from the tone of the story... the earphones... refusing to even carry pepper spray??? Yeah, those are the marks of a naive person. Katie would've been more than the average kind of "trusting" in strangers that didn't appear to pose a threat at the time. Then it wouldn't have been difficult to get close... track her down or back track her...
...AND from dubiously secret infatuation... to perhaps a deluded ideal of her sharing his feelings... then the bombshell that she's got a fiance... a GIRLFRIEND??? AND this otherwise unassuming type goes "Jekyll and Hyde"...
It's not necessarily right.. BUT this is just how "random" it can get, especially in a city the size of Atlanta... AND it's a kind of a... well... kind of a screwy town down there. ;o)

On the first case, police say they're "getting close to finding who did it. There's a page about the case on Facebook where news is posted as soon as it's available.

I’d also like the name. I looked up some but barely found any let alone any still active ones.

I haven't watched your whole video, yet, but my own two cents on homeless medical workers: I am homeless, and I've been a certified veterinary assistant since I graduated high school. I took on several vet tech roles in the hospital I worked in, then continued my medical education into college- though, I was forced to drop out due to the 2008 economy crash. While in college, I met a man that spent his entire last two years in university, living out of his car, and didn't work up to a home for several years, while working in a hospital. I've been on the streets for about a decade, and have met MANY medical workers also out of work and home. I've met many individuals with college degrees, including Ph.D.s- anyone, from any background, and any level of education, or work security can become or even actively be homeless. My time at the local soup kitchens would suggest that most in there have jobs, but the jobs aren't enough to cover rent and utilities.
I don't know what the average rate of pay, versus cost of living is in Atlanta, but here in western Washington, I could easily believe that a doctor- eating, showering, washing clothes every day, and generally keeping up on hygiene and wellbeing- could still be homeless. I knew an ER surgeon and an EMT in my early days on the streets- the ER surgeon showered at work, before his shift, and had his clothes run with the hospital linens. He just had a very messy divorce, and wasn't on the streets long. They were both fairly happy and content with their lives, too.
If I don't edit this to comment on anything else, I still want to thank you for covering these topics, and being relatively mindful of these people as fellow thinking, feeling beings worth respecting.

This is true but I think the ones who are homeless and working are not murdering. Probably an insane persone or drug addict with past training.

@@xSwordLilyx I agree wholeheartedly (or, at least, I hope that to be our reality), I'm just responding to Lazy's suggestion that the skill set alone is worth discrediting the chance that the person could be homeless. Then again, one thing that hadn't crossed my mind while watching this is that butchers and hunters often have some level of precision with their cuts, too- and those don't take a dozen or so years of training.

Curious about the ER surgeon if you don't mind sharing what's his story was it university debts?

@AandJay'sEndlessPlaylist's 1 I knew him about a decade ago, so I'm not sure what I could say about him that I haven't, already. I recall his house, kids, and a majority of joint finances went to his wife, and that he was building up from scratch from that. He was amicable about leaving the money for his kids, though, so maybe it was a child support lump sum?

No matter how many times I hear about the first story, it makes me sick every time. I wish so badly Katie had carried some form of protection on her. That was a vicious and personal attack, I’ve always believed it was a hate crime. And the fact her girlfriend was the one who found her, just heartbreaking (usually that seems odd, but the girlfriend was definitely not involved). RIP Katie and Bowie, may your case be solved sooner rather than later.
