@@herrschmidt5477 I've heard it before many times, but not so much lately. I wonder if maybe it wasn't bags he was holding that she was after. It wouldn't be easily identifiable, and it seems minute enough that it could get lost in translation
I wouldn't want any compensation if I was the family in this case. I'd track down everybody responsible for his death and incinerate their homes as they are asleep inside.
The funniest thing about Jeff the Killer, in my opinion, is that the search for the image source is a way more interesting story than the actual creepy pasta.
@@Massck yeah there are a few gems but you have to shift through a lot of American authors over describing guns or dipshit kids writing 'smart' characters etc etc. But some are great.
I do wonder if the "uncanny" images of the thief were intentionally exaggerated, in the same way that missing person posters often push any notable details to an extreme. If the thief had wide features, then the forensic artists might make them look even wider. The end result looks unnatural, but it sticks in people's minds. Also, much respect for Juzo Itami. I doubt he thought he was untouchable. Rather, anything done to him in retaliation would only validate his cause all the more. He got the last laugh.
Juzo Itami's suicide note contains some very sentimental words about his wife. Itami was known for being hard-headed and cynical, and people who knew him say he never would've written about his wife that way in a suicide note. They think he was told what to write by the Yakuza who killed him.
Imagine the cringe he went through while being forced to write those sentimental last words. I would have rolled my eyes and said just shoot me already.
That second case is so upsetting!! If those cops were smart, they would have just looked at the name on the credit cards/ID! And the fact that they didn’t report his innocence for 7 years is infuriating! Such a tragic death!😢
That's the first thing I thought of. He just came from a bank machine to withdraw money he must have had a card in his name or even an ID in his wallet.
Crazy right? It's the complete opposite of what actually happened... everyone was focused on apprehending the old man and forgot about the woman and let her get away.
Yup. Worst case, the woman was only guilty of trying to rob him. But the cops restrained an elderly man, pinned him down with their knees (aren't there enough examples of cops killing people this way?), and refused to get medical assistance despite him throwing up and passing out. They are guilty of murdering him. Far worse crime than the woman.
The Nayoyuki Case is pretty disturbing, I feel like he was the victim there, and to be labeled a peeping Tom on his close friend after his death just put a nail in the coffin so to speak, it’s so messed up, especially because no one really knows what happened
That's terrible, and I can see that actually happened. People's cruelty and malice is limitless. Perhaps they just threatening him and force to climb there, perhaps they just wanted to scare and humiliate him, maybe destroy his reputation and life, but in result they just kill him in one of the most miserable way possible
I think that Nayoyuki was either dead or unconscious and was put in the septic tank while totally limp. Its not uncommon for people to dispose of bodies in septic tanks to mask the smell. I also think if someone was conscious after they got trapped there they’d have wounds on their hands or body from trying to claw their way out. I guess there’s also a part of me that just wants to hope he wasn’t aware of what was happening when he died, because that’s just such an awful way to go.
@@HeyLeFay the problem is how would they have been able to get 2 people in there & get out, sure they couldve been smaller, but i still find it kinda hard to believe they put him in there, only option is they forced him to get in or he went in on his own
The second story is so upsetting. All those involved in the killing of that old man and defense of the thief should have been treated as the killers they are. Zero justice. Horrible.
If I was the man's family member, justice would still come, in the form of a gallon of gasoline and a lit match right to the doorways of the homes of the two rookie officers as they sleep one night. One second, they are in dreamland, the next, they are roasting at 3000 degrees Fahrenheit. There is no such thing as "no justice". You have to seek it out and take it yourself.
@@nunceccemortiferiscultu7826 Exactly. Revenge is justice for the seeker of the vengeance, and if I was the victim's loved one, that would be all I cared about. Nothing more, nothing less.
The first one freaks me out. I used to have nightmares about getting stuck in tubes after climbing into playstructures and not being able to get out, even though something like that never happened to me. The case isn't the same but it's similar enough to scare me.
There is an old Looney Tunes cartoon with a dog that finds himself crawling down a pipe that gets narrower and narrower, only to find a lit stick of dynamite at the end (placed there by Bugs Bunny, I do believe). Horrifying.
Japan is known to be one of the cleanest and most crime free country in the world. But I've always noticed how when crime do happens, it's always a crime that is incredibly disgusting, inhumane and blatantly Evil.
Japans crime rate is so low since most crimes go without being investigated, such as sexual abuse, or even when charged they have a 99% conviction rate. Even if you are innocent, you will probably be arrested for a couple of months
Most petty crimes aren't recorded especially sexual assault, stalking & sometimes even r*pe. I went to college in Kyoto & half of my female friends in our dorm were stalked by either the same man or multiple & no one did anything until one of my friends shoved her highheel into the man's eye. She was charged for assault...
It took me wayyyy too long to realize that the knife sponsorship was a sponsorship and not the start of a true crime case. I thought we were just getting excessive detail on the murder weapon because maybe it'd be important to this non existent case 😂
Actually, if you tell Aka Manto "No paper, no paper at all." he apparently walks away, leaving you with...well, no paper, but without killing you, so good enough in my book.

I like how a lot of these urban legends are basically instant death. If the wife hadn't come out he would have been arrested and the child would have disappeared.
I wonder if the Yakuza games are a backhanded critique of the Yakuza themselves. At face value it seems to make the organization look like super heroes...but if you actually play the games and listen to their stories they are NOT complimentary towards Yakuza, portraying them as violent, petty, dishonest, and even stupid. The main character is an exception, but he's usually not in the Yakuza proper for long.
@blahblahblah1312 yeah, the Yakuza game have a protagonist who... to put it bluntly... is trying to force the Yakuza to BE honest businessmen by physical force. But well.. most merely pretend to be honest.
That first story scares the absolute shit out of me and triggered a very repressed memory of me getting stuck in a very small cavern when I was little. Thankfully there were plenty of people around to help me get out quickly, but that memory sent my heart into overdrive and a lump in my throat. Imagining waking up in that situation is my actual worst nightmare
I just realized the 'Let me be cute' challenge of making things scary is possibly a play on words with 'Kawaii and Kowai' and that just makes me happy after all the despair I saw in this video.
Thanks for the shoutout, Lazy! I've been a fan of your channel for a long time and was quite surprised when I heard the name of my channel haha. Great video as always and I look forward to more in the future!
I love Japanese ghosts are just like: “This ghost will ask you to pick a number between 1 & 10. If you guess wrong you’ll be skinned alive. If you guess it right they’ll tear your spine out.” Damned if you do, damned if you don’t
In a way, I'd say that makes Japanese ghosts scarier than most western ghosts. With Japanese ghosts, you don't have to do anything wrong; just being in the wrong place at the wrong time seals your doom. Heck, running away doesn't always save you; some of the ghosts will follow you til they succeed in killing you.
Don't worry too much though. Some of them you can actually outsmart with a 3rd option lol. For the toilet paper one, you say "No paper" (basically none) and he'll leave. For the one with the slit-mouth woman, don't answer her question when she asks if she's beautiful. Ask "Am *I* beautiful?" and run while she's confused
An extra detail for case #2 that I’ve heard was that the reason why Ojii-San was at the store that day was to buy more food for his grandchild’s pet hamster. Just another humanizing tidbit that really drives home how unnecessary and tragic his death was. His poor family.
I doubt it. Although we have the powers of captain hindsight and captian common sense the police never seem to have those powers when it comes to something as serious as murder. As skeptical as I am, about a lot of things the fact they didnt even bother to look into the Yakuza is stupid, when they are clearly a suspect
Have heard/seen from various sources that Japan's conviction rate is in the high 90s percent. Problem is, it apparently often has less to do with the competence of the investigation and more with the prosecution being able to pressure the accused into confessions/plea deals. You can imagine how many cases go truly unsolved because they got the wrong guy and just closed the case.
5:09 what’s disturbing, is how she maybe wasn’t the first one to notice the shoe. I’m sure that some people if they saw that, they wouldn’t bother going through the effort of going outside to open the septic tank.
Just my guess here: Woman shouts thief and bystanders take her word for it and jump the guy. Rookie police show up and are probably told by multiple people that the man was a thief trying to steal from this woman, so they act on the info they're given and attack the man. By the time more experienced police show up, the damage is already done. Once the guy is dead, the police save face if its just some criminal who died rather than an innocent person, so they have every reason not to look too deeply into the incident. More likely than not, it was family or perhaps journalists not willing to let the issue rest that finally forced the police to clear his name.
@@randomstuff-qu7sh i fully agree. I looked at them and laughed at myself for being a dumb kid back in the day. I looked away and looked back and I suddenly felt like maybe one moved, just a little bit….I got full of the same cold fear LMFAO I guess that kind of thing lingers.
I was scared so badly when I was in my late teens by Jeff, but I got over it when the creepypasta turned out to just be about your typical serial killer. Now realizing there is a whole creepy lost media rabbit hole related just to the image makes it horrible to look at all over again.

That being said, that original image is still really unsettling and catches me offguard if I see it unexpectedly.

Now that I’m older I really appreciate that they do that to fight their problems with predators but they have soooo much more they need to do. It’s a huge issue
@Uh Oh Stinky of course it’s not fixing the problem. Only very slightly making things safer so people hear when/if someone takes a picture of them. I agree they need to make MAJOR changes. Japan likes to act like they’re such an innocent, crime free country, but the crimes against women specifically are awful and often lack proper justice. I’ve heard people argue that Japan is safer for women because they have womens only sections on trains… which is baffling to me because the reason they do is BECAUSE of how unsafe it is for women. They’re honestly doing the bare minimum making people feel safer in dangerous situations, but not addressing the dangerous people themselves
Oji - Sans case actually got me thinking: most human traffickers might actually be women. Hypothetically, it would be super easy for a woman to just grab a baby from a dad at a store, and then accuse the man of trying to "take my baby!" When he tries to take his child back
When I saw this, I remembered that the mystery incident "鮫島事件" that actually happened was a terrifying incident ... I can't write it here because it's too terrifying.
Awesome vid as always. I remember one story where a father was walking in the parking lot with his son and his wife was in the car. A random woman came up grabbing his son and started screaming about the father trying to kidnap her son. People came running holding the father down while the woman was literally starting to walk away with his son and they kept holding him down. In true mom moment fashion the actual mother ran across the parking lot and yanked their child away from the woman. She said she didn't even remember starting to move and she was there and the father said it was the most terrifying moment of his life because the "good samaritans" wouldnt listen to him. Seeing the mother pop up out of nowhere they quickly realized thier mistake. Although I 100% believe they had the best of intentions but in that particular situation they probably should have detained all parties instead of assuming the man had been in the wrong. I imagine the damn near tragic mistake keeps them up at night. Hell it probably keeps all parties up at night.

The man in the pipe is a japanese police thing. There is no possible way for the story to be true, he knew the person wasnt even there, would have had to have gone backwards hands first into sewage, knowing he would likely freeze to death and brought nothing to eat or drink. And if he knew his friends schedule, he was definitely old enough to know that he'd need some supplies in there, I really can't believe he was a peeping Tom, given the information in the video, he sounds a little too intelligent to have not thought through the plans and brought warm clothing (that he kept on, maybe from a thrift store? So he could toss it all after) and why go two days early? Go down there like 2 hours early... If he was that perverted But if he did do all that, then what? He lost a shoe in a river and decided to put the other one on his head? Why? To be found when he was trying to hide? Thankfully it sounds like the community didn't believe that story, I just hope his female friend didn't think of him as a peeping Tom and changed her opinion about him.... Besides what punk rocker is afraid to say what he thinks(like villagers votes were bought) or ask for what he wants (even if it's something super nasty like being... Like having... Stuff on him while watching)... Also how often do deaths occur in that village that the police would be foolish enough to destroy evidence by accident, and a coroner quitting right after that case... Nothing says "I've lied and don't feel I should be the community coroner, more than quiting after a strange and mysterious death" I wonder what his tox report showed, if the coroner was allowed to do one and someone didn't interfere with it, because black drunk level's of alcohol or large quantities of sedatives I'd imagine would be found... From what I know with most cases of peeping toms involving public bathrooms, they use cameras. It really doesn't make sense for him to crawl in such a place especially with no guarantee who would use the toilet in the first place; especially not his childhood friend who was out of town at the time. Only someone with severe mental instability would go through with an idea like that, not thinking about the consequences. It is pretty obvious to me that it was a cover-up, especially with the coroner quitting almost immediately after. No toxicology reports, him dying from hyperthermia instead of toxic fumes, and the nature of his garments especially his shoes. You'd also think with an area like that with such a small murder rate, they'd utilise everything possible to get to the bottom of the situation. Instead of coming up with such a quick story, with no real worry about the dead man's image in the eyes of the villagers; which small communities tend to do.
@@snikrdoodls14 I couldn't agree more, everything, every small part of the story screams "cover up" And all while using the "pervert" excuse to both hide the murder, and send a message that anyone else who wants to try something won't just die, their whole reputation will be destroyed That and the message obviously says "we own the law here"
It is just a japanese police thing. The conviction rate is too high, and it sets a high bar for investigations. When they dont have any leads like they didnt hear, they just go with something plausible and wipe their hands of it. Having an unsolved case is career suicide.
@@Luminousreign I've heard that before... That it's 98% success rate, but I thought that figure only was for when they had a suspect in custody (as if I'm not mistaken they're able to use some very very enhanced interrogation methods to get a confession) I didn't think it applied to situations like s**cide, or murder with no suspects and such But I can be wrong, it's been a while since I read an actual paper on police conviction rates(not on crime solved rates, which this would fall under)
@@JaykPuten Yes, the counterbalance is they are very careful and non-intrusive about investigating and arresting people because they want the justice system itself to seem almost perfect.
Juzo Itami died a chad. He deserves that much praises.
You realize what we saw of the thief was a screencap from security camera footage, not composite images made by forensic artists, right?

Juzo Itami's suicide note contains some very sentimental words about his wife. Itami was known for being hard-headed and cynical, and people who knew him say he never would've written about his wife that way in a suicide note. They think he was told what to write by the Yakuza who killed him.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t
I like the third answer. RUN! lol

Why does the less-edited version of Jeff look scarier to me than the one we're all used to? I think it's something about the eyes being more 'human/real' and that just not being something I associate with Jeff.
I was convinced I was not afraid of that Jeff image anymore, and I even watched Jorge's video during the day and wasn't affected. But man, seeing that image at 12:30am truly hits different, and I'm back to being that afraid 14 year old 😭
That woman's face was freaky looking. I wonder if that was the pixellation or if she really looked like a kabuki villain.
My first thought was that she looked like a demon.
The fact the origin of the Jeff The Killer photo can’t be confirmed is more unsettling than the story itself
The first case has always baffled me. Definitely a weird one. Great upload.
Mad props to you, Lazy, for giving a spotlight to KyotoRobato. His video of the Jusco Phantom is one of best English-translated contents out there that covered the incident without sensationalizing it.

The naoyuki one could go either way in my opinion. The evidence stacks kind of equally in both ways and you should never forget the stupid shit people will do to fulfill a secret fetish. you never really know a person no matter how nice they seem on the outside. Still the evidence that that wasn't the case is there too.
Not saying what happened with him either way, but the argument that, because he was smart and a good guy, he couldn't have a weird fetish is ridiculous. I bet most people you meet in life have a bizarre fantasy that no one knows about. I even worked with a guy many years ago that just disappeared one day, and we found out later that he ended up being busted for molesting kids. He was just a normal guy, nobody could have predicted it.
Especially his shoe was found far away from him
@@HazelnutErthat could be explained by a lot of things, honestly. He might've kicked off the shoes before going into the pipe, and someone might've taken one, or thrown the other in the tube to dispose of it.
Wouldn't someone have heard him yelling out if he was trapped unwillingly? As much as I want to believe it was foul play and he was a decent guy, my guess is that he was likely too embarrassed by his situation, and decided he would rather die than suffer the embarrassment alive.
Love these videos from Japan. I dont know why but they grab my attention more then any others.
The first mystery is extremely bizarre to me. I keep thinking about how he got in there, but I can’t figure it out. Yet his body only had minor abrasions? And he died of hypothermia? There’s too many questions. The family deserves answers.
Yea it's so absurd . There's no way he'd fit there , unless there was some type of opening or smth .
My sister used to live in Japan! When she moved back home, I thought it was weird that her phone would *always* make sounds when pictures were taken. She told me that Japanese phones can’t have silent cameras but I didn’t really understand. Now that I’m older I really appreciate that they do that to fight their problems with predators but they have soooo much more they need to do. It’s a huge issue
Wouldn't silent cameras be a plus for predators too?
Anyone sensing the irony of an episode about Japanese true crime being sponsered by high quality Japanese kitchen knifes?
Not gonna lie I thought he was about to talk about a Japanese knife scam
At least someone on that
Oji - Sans case actually got me thinking: most human traffickers might actually be women. Hypothetically, it would be super easy for a woman to just grab a baby from a dad at a store, and then accuse the man of trying to "take my baby!" When he tries to take his child back
No bad man would willingly take care of a baby. Much more common for crazy women to steal babies.
When I saw this, I remembered that the mystery incident "鮫島事件" that actually happened was a terrifying incident ... I can't write it here because it's too terrifying.

THE JEFF THE KILLER PICTURE WAS SUCH A JUMPSCARE- I read the warning and everything and i still jumped

@@fronthal157 how would we know if that wasn't their child? What I'm saying is that people would have a gun to protect themselves, so why wouldn't a kidnapper do the same to protect themselves from being taken down? People abuse the use of fire arms like hostile animals. One look and they think they are in danger and shoot whether they are in the wrong or not. This is why gun control is a thing so people won't abuse it and use it to shoot innocent people. The witnesses thought the man really is a kidnapper and the lady is the mom trying to take her child back. If that was to be the case, would you want that man to hold a gun so he can get away with the child?

The story of the old man who died was so confusing to me. I don't understand why nobody simply opened the wallet to see his credentials. That would have solved the crime that quick. Wtheck?
And as for the man in the pipe - it certainly wouldn't be the first time someone was made to look like some deplorable human being in death. So they not only lose their life, but their dignity as well. And they didn't have to lay a hand on him. What a slow, agonizing, disgusting death.
Edit: I just realized somebody already mentioned this
Nobody was trying to investigate or verify anything because they'd already made their assumptions.
The man in the pipe is a japanese police thing. There is no possible way for the story to be true, he knew the person wasnt even there, would have had to have gone backwards hands first into sewage, knowing he would likely freeze to death and brought nothing to eat or drink. The police just didnt have a good suspect. The bar is pretty high in Japan and things like this arent even considered a coverup. The conviction rate is too high for them not to make excuses to leave no case unsolved, because that is bad for them.
@@Luminousreign Yeah, that was definitely a crazy story. But I was referring to the man who had his wallet stolen
@@aprilgarcia6119 Oh that can be explained by the crowd thinking he was a perv and then him refusing to hand over his wallet. Police were like yup guilty. The problem is that those guys always say they are innocent, so any resistance to try and show them is just going to be met as resistance. Also he got convicted on a technicality because he died and couldnt explain himself. The only version of events anyone got basically was the one where he looked guilty...even though at this point they know he is not. The system has to be perfect.
@@aprilgarcia6119 Like the women disappeared and he still wouldnt hand it over so it is incredibly suspicious to them that he was still protecting his identity. Now was he just panicked and desperately holding on to his wallet? probably, but he doesnt get to tell that story.

the scariest part about japan is definitely not the demons but the justice/police system TuT
I had solved mystery 4 but no one believes me. it's from a manga, or a fan acted out scene from the final chapter of "pretty face" volume 53. in late 2003 some japanese readers of the manga acted out the final few scenes of the manga from their bedroom and posted it online. it then got spead with the "make me cute" meme format. fun bonus: the plot of the pretty face manga is, well almost scene for scene the jeff the killer story.
That is interesting need to check it out

OMG i was just rewatching ur old videos and now u uploaded an extra long video!!! THANK U!!! u still going to do the Fifty Stories Around The World Series? Much Love Mate! :)
There are too many stories like that of Ojii-san's, where women use their presumed 'innocence' to their advantage. I literally witnessed a woman *almost* successfully abduct a child from their father (and only failed to because luckily a bystander asked the child who the woman was) because she cried for help when he tried to save his child and several people tried to pin him down
We as a society really are failing a lot of people with these sexist assumptions about men as perps and women as victims.
100%. Women can easily do this kind of thing. All they have to do is pretend to cry and people will come to their aid. I had an ex that used to like to play games like this when she was drunk. She got me kicked out of loads of nightclubs and bars with this routine. She was a real piece of work. She thought it was funny.

For years, people have done what they can to protect woman, but what about men? Even if the first guy was a peeping Tom, how does his shoe end up on his head and another in the river? And if he knew his friends schedule, he was definitely old enough to know that he'd need some supplies in there, I really can't believe he was a peeping Tom, given the information in the video, he sounds a little too intelligent to have not thought through the plans and brought warm clothing (that he kept on, maybe from a thrift store? So he could toss it all after) and why go two days early? Go down there like 2 hours early... If he was that perverted
But if he did do all that, then what?
Nothing says "I've lied and don't feel I should be the community coroner, more than quiting after a strange and mysterious death"
I wonder what his tox report showed, if the coroner was allowed to do one and someone didn't interfere with it, because black drunk level's of alcohol or large quantities of sedatives I'd imagine would be found... That or a concussive blow to the head
Besides if you want to see a friend do that and have days while she's gone, then you could just setup a safer alternative... I guess? Idk that's not a mindset I can really get into... But I'm sure some perv out there would have a better thought out plan in the time it takes to watch the video and read my comment, or even just watch the first 13minutes
@@snikrdoodls14 I couldn't agree more, everything, every small part of the story screams "cover up"
And all while using the "pervert" excuse to both hide the murder, and send a message that anyone else who wants to try something won't just die, their whole reputation will be destroyed
That and the message obviously says "we own the law here"
It is just a japanese police thing. The conviction rate is too high, and it sets a high bar for investigations. When they dont have any leads like they didnt hear, they just go with something plausible and wipe their hands of it. Having an unsolved case is career suicide.
@@Luminousreign I've heard that before... That it's 98% success rate, but I thought that figure only was for when they had a suspect in custody (as if I'm not mistaken they're able to use some very very enhanced interrogation methods to get a confession)
I didn't think it applied to situations like s**cide, or murder with no suspects and such
But I can be wrong, it's been a while since I read an actual paper on police conviction rates(not on crime solved rates, which this would fall under)
@@JaykPuten Yes, the counterbalance is they are very careful and non-intrusive about investigating and arresting people because they want the justice system itself to seem almost perfect. Take the old man story for example, they arrested him because he was being restrained for seeming like a perv (by their social norms) , which included him refusing to give I.D. He can really never be innocent in the japanese system, especially after he died.
