@@storiesfromthecascina I just discovered your vlogs today, but I've already watched a few. I admire as you both work, because you do everything so professionally. It's a huge project that never ends, because even when everything is done, you'll still find things to do. Have joy in it. The countryside is beautiful, although all of Italy is.
Velluto is showing off his "tom cat". He knows where his bread is buttered, he will be back. The work table is magnificent, compliments of your craftsmanship, Bertus. ❤
The choice of angles, the lighting, the cuts, it all matches the best of filmmaking. And then the lovielest couple ever, authentic, no artificial drama, peace. Every week I look forward to the next episode. Thx.
The amount of time & patience you both have shown @ learning new crafts is amazing. The custom windows shows us your absolute Love of your home! The videography is a testament of your skills. Sorry about 🐈⬛ 🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
Bertus no doubt will spend many happy hours in his workshop with that wonderful work bench he built. Velluto will probably come back when he is hungry. 😀🐈⬛ Thanks for the lovely video.
Dear Isis and Bertus, I discovered your channel a few weeks back. Since then I watched all your videos with great pleasure. I tried to find similar channels but no other is even close to the atmosphere and quality of yours. I want to thank you both for sharing this part of your life with us. Your property is so beautiful and I admire how much respect and love you have for it, as well as for the nature, materials you use, and each other. This is so special and you can see it in every little and big work you do around the house. It is a joy to watch you living your best life. No wonder you have so many visitors and helpers! I (im)patiently wait for the next video. I hope Velutto is fine and comes back soon. All the best 🌻
Looks like things are moving along nicely, and well-paced. It’s certainly lovely to have friends come to help, and enjoy the company! I’m sorry to hear the Velutto is vacationing - most cats do! - hopefully, he will be back, hungry and ready for human attention.
I'm so sorry that Velluto has gone on a walkabout. I know that must worry you both! I hope he comes back again. Feral cats so often do this, and come back looking thin and weary. The work bench is a joy to behold! Think of all the projects you'll manage on it! It's kind of the hub of all your home renovations :)
Thank you for this beautiful video, the storm brought such interesting light, it was stunning, especially around 9:57. Like so many others, I pray Velluto is off on his summer holiday with his current lady cat, and will return home soon, perhaps with kittens in tow!
@lapsedluddite3381 ...or perhaps Velluto wasn't content anylonger to be a house cat only... Enough is enough, the whole world is waiting me - he thought and roam off.
You built a beautiful, strong workbench, bravo. It was nice to see you had help towards the end. It’s wonderful to have good friends. The bread looked delicious. Well baked. I consider making bread an art and you have achieved that.👍
Your channel tells such a tale of how to live your best life. Good on ya'. The photography and editing are mesmerizing, a small masterpeice, each frame stitched and woven with care and expertise.
I’m so happy for you that the work bench turned out so well. Lots of planning I’m sure. Thank you for sharing how you made the bread Isis, it looked delicious. I do hope that Velluto returns from his adventures. He is definitely a cat with his own mind.
I'm watching your channel for a while now and apart from all the renovation tips i really like that you include landscape views and real daily life like baking bread. Watching it is like meditation for me. Pure calmness. I'm looking for my dream italian home as well and hope I'll find a partner to share it with in the way you do together. Looking forward to see how you double glaze the windows...
Your cinematography is pure eye candy! Bertus…please buy Isis a new paint brush. Maybe an 1 1/2” Angled Purdy to cut in the window sashes. Maybe in your next vlog you can briefly describe the design features of the surface of your new work bench. Obviously, there is a cutout for a router, but what about the other features. Thank you!
No on the brush, just no. In the Netherlands, Belgium, France and all over europe, people have been painting with round brushes for at least the past 300 years and with beautiful paintwork as a result. It's a big misconception that you can't cut in corners with a round brush.
The whole video... Bravo! I could watch a whole video of just what you see in the nature around you, beautiful!! Sure hope Velvet comes back, so enjoyable to see him there. btw Bertus, nice hair cut! 😉
Hi Isis and Bertus, it's such a pleasure to watch your videos. The surrounding area and the sky camera work are just a thrill to watch. Heart warming video, & such a magnificent effort on the result of the work bench, & the community spirit shared to get it into position. grazie del bel video. Complimenti, bellissimo banco da lavoro, unico questo non ce l'ha nessuno! Isis che pazienza per fare le finestre, ho fatto questo lavoro tanti anni fa ed ancora me lo ricordo. Fotografia e scenografia come sempre stupende. Un capolavoro.
Beautiful the pictures and sound of the rain that was coming ❤. The infrared speed heater is a great invention ! I broke several windows from my house because of the electrical paint remover that heats at high temperatures.. the bread must be delicious and lovely made work bench.
Great work on the bench and the paint scraping......have to say though, just seeing you pick the scraper up and all the fillings in my teeth come alive. It's like fingernails scraping down a blackboard 😂. Fingers crossed Veluto is just off "Tom catting" somewhere and is too loved up to return home right now 🤞
Save your backs! The cart is fine but you need a riding lawn mower which also works as lawn tractor you can hook up the trailer to. It does not have to be big. You will be amazed how useful it can be.
You need to be concerned about the dust getting into your clothing, laundering such etc. It’s an insidious disease. Love your precise repair work. You must be loving your life. Well done
Such a beautifully shot video, there’s never any sense of urgency in your films. Everything goes at its own pace. I always feel a sense of peace having watched you both. Ahhh Bertus.... you will never be wobbly again, you could dissect an elephant on that workbench!! (no animals will be harmed with this unpaid promotion) 😉
Amazing jobs, again! Bravi. Velluto hopefully will show up again.. You know there are so many cats in refugees, you have the ideal place to have some.. Buon lavoro
Beautiful filming! The work bench is amazing. Well done! Thanks for the recipe-just love getting new ideas! Question-were the tall spires you harvested lamb’s ear along with lavender? Do tell-what will you do with them?
I very much enjoy following you and the progress you are making. Also the wonderful shots of where you live, the sky and nature in general. Btw, where it your sweet little cat?
I have just hears in the video andI am so sorry to hear your little cat has been missing for a while. Perhaps he is just roaming around and enjoying the summer. I hope so. I am thinking of you.
if you research removing lead paint using a liquid paint remover rather then electric heat to melt the paint & then a scraper to get the paint off you will find it is safer, faster, easier, & far more efficient. No matter what you use always use the face mask & definitely do all work outside (especially sanding) wear a disposable lab coat over your clothes, cover hair , gloves hands. Enjoy watching your commitment & wish you the best. 😢
The weather is no longer the same as here on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada! We've had a few weeks of unrelenting, hot sun and NO rain! It looks pretty stormy there on the regular?! Your sunflowers are still bigger than mine though! Nice to have help around the farm again for you. Is that your son?
Die verblühten Pflanzen solltest du stehen lassen. Alle möglichen Insekten überwintern darin und Vögel holen sich die Samen. Erst im späteren Frühjahr abschneiden. 🙏😍
Hope Velluto comes back again. If you want him to be more likely to stick around get him neutered. He’ll be less likely to get in trouble also. I like your bread recipe did I miss it do you use yeast? I mostly make sourdough these days and lately all sorts of focaccia including sweet ones. Is so fun to experiment and not have any expectations.
Yes, this is a yeast bread. I've dabbled in sourdough baking and I would love to do more of it but I let my starter die this winter because I didn't feed it enough. I figured better get "normal" baking into our rythm first, and then go from there. :-)
@@storiesfromthecascina I just had to start my sourdough starter over this past month, I keep it in fridge when I’m not baking, when I took it out it had a spot of mold on side of jar. Luckily it only took four days to get another going. I still do a lot of commercial yeast breads too as you can get a loaf so quickly.
Velluto may come back he may be away as I think it is mating season, they reckon from February to October so I hope that is the reason why he is not around, I hope it is. You both have done so much in one year on the property. I can not get over it and all the research you both do on your projects. Your cinematography is amazing and the beauty you capture is out of this world. Bertus did you buy the workshop table top already with those holes and what kind of wood is and what is it called? Have a lovely week.
I considered buying a pattern set to drill the holes myself, then decided on buying the top plates to save me a lot of time and stress and potential oopsies. Getting the table finished in time for doing the windows is more important. The advantage of drilling them yourself is that you can pick a table top wood or very durable multiplex yourself. While the etsy shop where I bought the plates only has them in the softer mdf. Of course mdf is also much cheaper than good quality multiplex. Choices choises choises. The system with all the holes is called the MFT system.
Hopefully Veluto has returned by now. Just catching up on last few. But with a run of guests lately he may just be biding his time until it’s just his humans there. He knows how to fend for himself tho might be a little rusty!!
i just heard about velluto. heartbreaking. i hold hope that maybe there was too much going on with other helpers, noises etc., that he might pop up after things become quieter again. 😢
So, the lead paint issue. What if lead isn’t what they say it is? Call me a conspiracy … BUT… research it. Now that I have, rather deeply, I have the firm belief that lead paint is a protective layer in your home against the harmful rays of WiFi, 5G, EMF etc. Hope this alleviates some of your paint stripping worries. All of the best in your amazing project. Loving watching your episodes.
I hope that new workbench is made, 'flat pack' style. By my estimation in 2 years time you will be converting that workshop into your home and needing to move all that workshop set up to another building on the property. One year to renovate old Farm House, one year to renovate newer farm house and then you will be renovating the cow barn/hay loft into your personal home. I suppose the wine making house will be renovated after that for your mother to move into, unless counsel approves converting the chicken house into a rental property before the winery is approved for conversion/renovation. Intact male cats pick up the scent of female cats in heat for miles around and instinct drives them to go in search of them and impregnate them at all costs. So long as your male cat remains intact he will wander far and wide in his drive to father as many kittens as possible. It is a dangerous time for male cats as they can be careless in their ardor to procreate and put themselves in harms way. This happened to one of our cats when we were living on a farm. We would hear from neighboring farmers that our male cat was hanging around their place, miles away, then several weeks later our cat would return until the drive pulled him away in search of a mate. Eventually he was done in by an encounter with a fox or wolf, as part of his remains were found showing signs that this had happened.
My feral (domesticated) tomcat would disappear for 2 to 3 days, only to come back very injured looking for medical help. He did this until he was at least 16 years with me. Who knows how old he really was? He died after 19 years with me.
Hello, my wife and I love your channel. We have talked about moving or at least spending time in the Langhe area. Is the village near your Cascina, with the bell tower and lookout tower, the place where you temporarily lived while you were prepping your place? Would you recommend that village as a possible base for exploring the area? Thank you for creating this channel. It is our favorite site on YT
We stayed there for only 2 weeks before we had electricity at the cascina. But that b&b (only one in village) has been sold since and is now no longer used for holiday accomodations. Thanks!
I hope Velluto shows up. He has taught us all about living on your own terms.
"Your own terms" That's funny!
I don’t know if RUclips has an award for exceptional photography, but if they do you deserve it, hands down. Really excellent!
We really enjoy capturing the beauty of this place, and we're still mesmerized waking up here every day.

You need to take Feluto to the vet,to get something done 😩then he will stay in the neighborhood .
Thanks!
@@storiesfromthecascina Thank you for your response!
