Later in the battle he puts his guards up and the slashes hit but doesn't do anything to whatever is on his arms, just his side, even if these are lower output slashes, Kusukabe blocked it with simple domain and Higuruma blocked Sukunas slashes with domain amplification, but what about Yuji? The last couple of panels of 247 we see the mans whole side get blown out, arm dangling by some flesh but he somehow managed to get back quick enough, heavy emphasis on "quick enough" to swap executioners sword with Higuruma. Nah there is something going on here.
I dont think Higuruma is going to become a curse , because only when jujutsu sorcerers die with regret do they become cursed spirits At the end we see how Hiruguma forgives himself and is finally able to look Yuji in the eye and leaves the rest to Yuji

Plus there’s also a theory that yuji could use a domain expansion that is similar to sukuna somehow or somewhere around the end of the series or towards his fight against sukuna. It’ll be called benevolent shrine or shrine of heaven, which It allows Yuji to directly interact with souls and may grant him access to the realm between life and death.
