Libyan UN ambassador calls on ICC to issue arrest warrants for Israeli officials

- Taher el-Sonni, Libya’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue arrest warrants for Israeli officials involved in “the holocaust of Gaza”.
During a UN Security Council meeting on Libya, Sonni told ICC prosecutor Karim Khan to direct his efforts and resources towards “the genocide, the severe violations and war crimes” being committed by Israel in Gaza.
“The world is wondering. Do you need more evidence and proof? Can’t you see the current threats to civilians in Rafah and the impending massacre at any moment?” he said, calling on the ICC to be “brave” and prove it is a credible, neutral and independent institution.

The Land of Israel and historical Palestine are synonyms for one and the same country, stretching from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. They restored their national polity after the British Mandate in Palestine expired in 1948. During that same year, the Jordanians and Egyptians also took control of parts of the country, but the same Palestinian Jews (called Israeli soldiers in 1967) liberated those parts and restored Palestine's ancient border.
