That places will I definitely visit some days, thank you for the good advice you give Cal 🙏
Cheers. I’m glad it’s helpful!
Awesome. I just walked through both yesterday. Great timing of your video.
It’s a nice relaxed vibe there. Cheers
Appreciate the guidance- the quick pop up map helps in the local orientation. 👍
Glad it’s helpful. Cheers
Great video. You packed a lot of useful information in 8 minutes 😀
Thanks for the kind words! I try to be succinct. Cheers
Hi Cal, I will be in thailand soon, i have a interest for home automation product, like aqara, sonoff, etc.. thanks for your feedback. Nice video !
Good to hear. You should be able to find these at Fortune Town. Cheers and safe travels!
I never buy electronics in Thailand . Due to import duties, most items are more expensive than in my home country .
That said , camera and lens repairs are very inexpensive . I have had lenses that were uneconomical to repair in Australia, that were fixed in Thailand for the equivalent of $50 Australian.
I find electronics are cheaper back home as well. Import tariffs and taxes are fairly high here. Cheers
For 50$ you can go to HK/Macao where electronic is way cheaper (Like if you plan to buy for few thousands $ stuff, it can worth it)
Definitely can be cheaper flying out. I agree
Fortune Town just looks like a smaller, less crowded and bit more upscale version of MBK.
Correct. Very similar style. Pricing is similar and a little bit less hustler vibe cause its not a touristy spot. Def my preference. Cheers
Hello..Good video Bro. Do we get international warranty if we buy there and get repair service's if anything hepppens in our home country.😊
Cheers. It will depend on the store.. you should shop at the brand name stores for the full warranties (eg Apple or Sony store). But the manufacturer warranties should be good from places like Banana as well.
Excus me where can I buy secon computer components?
Fortune town has plenty of shops that should carry them.
Hi mate... Are there any Garmin store on the malls that you visited? or some store that sels them? Thanks
This mall isn’t particularly well known for garments. There is a whole garment area in the city though!
@@thebangkokguide No, I’m referring to the store of smartwatches and GPS devices for sports called Garmin!
Ah, I'm not familiar with the store, but if it's higher end then it may be better to check Central Embassy or the Siam Paragon / Central World area. Huge selection there!
When I go hopefully next year sometime.. my biggest worries are my RBC debit card or credit card gets lost/froze, I screw up 2FA somehow, lose my passport or phone, get injured and sent to the hospital, etc. I wouldn’t mind a vid sometime down the line on chaos preparation. I doubt the Canadian Embassy has a help line. Good to know about where to find electronics!
That’s a good suggestion. All the issues you mention are definitely risks and I’ve dealt with all of them personally. I’ll put together a video on emergencies that will probably be helpful for many people. Thanks for your input
@ That’d be great to see sometime for the worry warts like me. Thanks Cal.
The first mall Bangkok had was in the early 70s. Right across from Central mall, right by the 4 face Buddha. It was a Japanese mall. 50 years later, now there over 20 of these super malls. I am old.
I can only imagine how different it was back then. I would like to have seen it. Thanks for sharing. Cheers
This's the best mall for IT Gadget.
I agree.
Hi mate. We are going for three weeks to thailand. Can you tell us what can we visit? First 4 days we have in bangkok, after this next 4 days chiang mai. Whats next? We want to have an active trip with couple of days of relax on the beach. Never been to thailand so we would like to see best places for newbies😅
Haha that is a very broad question. For parties go to Phuket or Samui, for a more chill vibe go to Koh Chang or Samed or the far south!
Where do you go to have a desk top computer repaired?
Fortune town. Third floor has plenty of repair shops.
@@thebangkokguide is that better than MBK?
@@JJthelonelybullinasiaI find fortune town better… mbk is very touristy. Haven’t done any repairs though so can’t comment on the specific service.
@thebangkokguide thanks
There is an awesome food market out the back of "Fortune Town". Not sure if it's still there.
Good to know. I wonder if it’s there now as well. Will go check next time
you should show prices
Good recommendation. I agree.
8:15 can you talk about finding a trustworthy, and efficient visa agent. What to look for and questions to ask, can you recommend any? thanks
I’ll add that one to the list of videos. Useful topic to cover. Cheers
Banmor is my recommend for electric and electronic gadgets. It is not so far from china town.
Thanks for the advice! Cheers
Cal do you have any recommendations for what SIM card my wife and I from Canada are going to be in Thailand for 3 months
You can use a tourist sim for simplicity, or if you want the best value buy a SIM card and get a prepaid plan from the provider directly. Just walk into a store at any mall with your passport and they’ll set you up. For 3 months it’s worthwhile. I use AIS and the value is very good… customer service reps are great and will recommend the best value plans. I’ll try to cover this in detail in a video soon.
Thank you for the advice
There's a Dell store in Fortune Town
Correct. It’s near the IT City. Thanks for the input!
What place do you recommend on buying a portable speaker?
Depends on the quality your looking for… plug pro would be a good spot to checkout tho!
Hey man, I’m looking a calm, cheap beach town kind of place to live in Thailand for like 6 months. Do you have any suggestions
Hua Hin is quite good.. but Ao Nang and Krabi would also be a winner for that
Hey Cal. What is the minimum therm to rent a condo?
Most landlords want a year but you can normally negotiate 6 months.
They refurbish that place. The last time I was there February 2015.
Yeah, I think perhaps. I first visited it back in 2015 as well. I can't actually remember if it was different though. Cheers
I was surprised to see that ordering for exemple a samsung s24 ultra 512 gb on Amazon us , was 11000 Thb cheaper than in thailand. Including shipping and 86 $ of import taxe, price is 1085 $. 37700 Thb (From samsung shop on amazon). Here in thailand samsung shop it cost you 48900.
For anything electronic , thailand is more expensive than europe or us
Yeah most imported higher end products are normally more expensive here... I try to buy bigger ticket items outside the country if possible!
Adress ?
This is next to Rama 9 MRT station.
สวัสดีค่ะ🙏🇹🇭
It's just like Pantip used to be....
Correct! I like the more relaxed vibes at Fortune town compared to central Bangkok.
🙋🏽♂️
One place to see more electronics is Klong Thom Center close to Chinatown, kind of an experience.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Better Banana than Apple on every floor 🍌🍌🍌
Banana for the win 😅
Dog friendly apartments video?
Coming up soon!
