I have the automatic poulan pro automatic no gears to shift. I have taken this thing off road very steep 2 track trails up a mountain lol. Having the foot throttle makes it so much easier! Just crawl and know when to give it more throttle and had no issues with tire slip or anything. I have had a plate welded underneath in the rear to better protect the plastic trans. But Iam pretty happy with it. Tractor is bone stock 15.5hp 500cc going to be getting off-road tires to get the stocks off, and flopping the drive pulley around bottom for deck used for drive with a size 72 belt give her a little more speed but Iam very happy with this tractor

Thanks for watching! Yes all the LT1000s were either gear or hydro, the plastic transmissions didn't really show up until 2013 or so.

I’m happy with the MTD vs system and its cheap up keep and easy to fix. Don’t need the fancy stuff that will break the bank and never work more than two years

hydrostats do whine - my first experience was my Dad bought a Cub Cadet 127 in 1970 or 1972 and it was hydrostat with a single lever on the dash for forward/reverse. It definitely had a whine especially when you have it revving low and move forward or backwards. Flash forward I now I have a 2014 Dixon zero turn, and it has a hydrostatic tranny. It won't whine at all when you have it cranked up and mowing. But when I'm done I blow off all the dust with a leaf blower, restart it at low throttle and move it into it's stall - I want it to cool down before storing. It has the exact same whine. And it is a great little unit been absolutely dependable for going on 10 years. I think you have to pay a little more for a real hydro, but it's worth it.

The only hydrostatic transmission tractor i got is a white gt 2055 garden type and it never lets me down i love that tractor to death it's got the 3pt hitch - high low gear shift and a front pto to attach items and they sell loaders and backhoes for them as well i wish i had those attachments for it that is a true tractor i would recommend.

My Troy built tractor just start square I sprayed it with some b b blaster I could smell the rubber starting to Burn left the B. B blaster soak on there Try to see if it's gonna grab the belt butter. Thank you for the video and it Was big help I'm just starting to learn about these trackers. I like my wheelhorse actually wanna drill and tap in that Troy built could put grease in it when I want to so don't go dry. Actually had one go dry and the rear end was junk. I see another RUclips do it one time In the rear And I work

Thanks for the informative video. I have a 2008 Craftsman LT2000 (917 YTA) with a Tecumseh 206-545C trans on it.
What are your thoughts on that transaxle?

I think the Tecumseh transaxles are just fine. Pretty much any transaxle besides the plastic General ones I mention in this video will generally last the life of the mower.

I have a Husqvarna ST 138, 2015 model, I'm not to Sure what transmission is in it.. But the problem I'm having with it is you push the forward pedal and the mower drives in reverse,.. Reverse petal works fine.. It just wont drive forward..

I feel sorry for the women who have bought the plastic trans and with 37 hours it’s bad, 700 bucks plus shipping and labor
Some companies need to go out of business asap
    No morals or honesty
