  • Sean & Mike talk to Jamal again as he updates us with his progress at ATP flight school where he was able to get his Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot Certificate, and Multi-Engine Rating in under 5 months. Jamal had also used the financial aid which means he started his training at ATP with no money being paid up front.

If you need someone on your podcast who has gone from private to multi engine commercial in 5 months while working a full time job and juggling normal life responsibilities as a husband and dad, I’d be happy to discuss my DIY path outside of a major program like ATP that cost me under $30,000 so far. At 35, I’m making a career change, and I don’t have time or money in abundance and am making every move count! I’m now studying for my CFI and should have a website up ready to take students for an accelerated course I’m developing in about a month and a half(April). Would love to chat.

even if they dont pull you onto the pod, then I'd love to hear how that worked for you. I'm 35, have a PPL, kids, career, the whole 9 yards like you and looking to make the career change.

I am a career switcher as well. I received a QJO from Delta through the propel program before completing my PPL here in Vero Beach Florida. It’s only going to cost me $60k to go from 0 to MEI. If you want someone on your podcast to talk about some other programs, I’d be willing to talk.

$100,000 is no small figure, but I bet Jamal will make easy work of it when it’s all said and done. Super inspirational seeing a guy with that kind of work ethic. I’ve been stuck in a funk during CFI training(as ironic as that sounds being that this podcast is about skipping CFI) but this conversation made me feel like I’m right at the brink of accelerating my way to the 1000hr R-ATP. Cheers guys!

Come on RUclips Jamal is a great guy. Someone give him a better job, steal him away from this company. He’s ready for the right seat of a jet.

I had the same experience with atp. Also at the same stage as Jamal! It’s been great to watch his success, I was trying to get ahead of him in training but it never happened haha!

I like this video because it really did give a clear explanation of how these ATP programs work. I’ve thought about it myself, but I didn’t know if the juice was worth the squeeze. I know I don’t want to go to the Airlines, but I would like to get through the ratings so that I can use, my talents to maybe become a Flight instructor. This was helpful, and definitely food for thought.

Thank you guys for this podcast! It's super helpful as I plan my pilot career journey. My plan thus far is to do an accelerated PPL in Tucson followed by either Epic or ATP. Hoping to get going in spring or summer this year!

Hey guys I’m a huge fan of the podcast. Also, I’m a snowmobile guide at the main park city snowmobile outfit, Red Pine Adventures. Mike, is that the one you went to? If so, I’m super disappointed I didn’t get a chance to say hi.

I talked with two FSDOs about logging AATD time as total time and they didn’t give me a clear answer, but it seemed as though it won’t count towards total time, only towards a non-atp rating.

As for Mike and Sean's trip comparison, definitely Mike has the better trip! Mike, rub Sean's face in the snow, just rub it in haha!
