How friendly are FastCAT events for dogs that are still working on their recall? I've seen some videos where it seems like the runs are relatively open and I don't feel confident enough in my girl's recall around other dogs to let her off leash if there's a chance she can escape
I would highly encourage you to find one that's fenced. Some are rather open and I can see that concern as my own dogs wouldn't do well in that type of environment. I also use a harness going to the line and a slip lead afterwards so I could make sure they didn't get loose. Getting off leash depends on each club, some will NQ a run, some will expel the dog. I would go to a couple to watch and see how you feel about it! It's a great entry sport and a lot of clubs are good at remembering there's a lot of first time dog sports peeps at these events so they are usually really nice!
@@nddogsportsevents Thank you so much for the response! We are going to go check out an event next weekend to see if we feel comfortable trying. Thanks again!
Trying this for the first time next weekend with my agility dogs. Two leashes per dog?? or 3 or 4... LOL
Sorry for the delay! 2 leashes total unless you're running back and forth and want the extra, essentially catcher and releaser need a leash each
Can I go by myself and pick which end of the aisle to stay on? I'm not sure my dog would run after the bag, but he would absolutely run to me lol
You can, but you'd have to find someone at the trial to be the releaser as you'll be the catcher in that instance!
