National embarressment because the technology we pioneered didnt work, was abandoned, sold to the italians and they made it work and then later sold it back to us xD its not the only source of shame where railways are concerned, we still havent electrified our tracks, we still havent got any trains that can actually go over 125mph, we still have the twisty old victorian layout, we are currently replacing slowly what beeching removed, the class 91 logo was the apt without the revolutionary technology, the railbuses made by british leyland as a cheap solution to rail stock (rail buses, litterally bus bodys on train wheels, british leyland again) leading to the hidious pacers and sprinters and then to top it off our national pride the class 43 is well past its limitations and should have been decomissioned a very long time ago xD

@@KeiranCounsellKC1994 I mean to replace tracks across the Country and the rest would take forever
I know Avanti are getting new trains and their current ones are supposedly transferring to Cross Country like before
HS2 coming which is very exciting

@@timelordgeek16 it wouldnt if enough money was thrown at it, the electrification of whole routes was very fast. In the uk it would take ages but only because british industrys are slow and underfunded. The apt was a result of the government choosing the cheapest option as always where other governments actually made a considerable investment and reaped the rewards. There are alot of new trains coming wiping out the older ones... none are made in the uk though :/ british leyland and apt and delorean basically killed that for good :/ now we are just importing stuff we could make ourselves.
Hs2 is a project i think is likely to get binned or to take a huge hit because its over spent by millions already and nothing has actually been built yet, its pissed off loads of eco warriors and such, something is going to happen with that to stop it being as grand as it should be. Also politically hs2 was a massive ploy to mask the fact britian has fallen decades behind the times :/

@@KeiranCounsellKC1994 HS2 will be a success. I know it will
Especially with HS1 down my neck of the woods
Oh aye. Government don’t give a monkeys about rail
I mean you look at Hitachi trains. All built in Japan which is kinda what you said about trains not being built here

@@timelordgeek16 britian could have built them easy... its not like them new hitatchis can exceed the track limitations of 125mph anyway so its essentially a more modern version of the hst xD hs1 as in the hst fleet? Only other thing it could be is the euro stuff but thats french made trains with nearly half the cost covered by the french and probably had some top ups by the eec or erm or eu or whatever they were known as back then xD hs2 is going to be a massive political hot potato for a very long time
