Update on Ace - I have gotten him involved in playing some of the games ruclips.net/user/postUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU and I can see a difference in his confidence already! My other dog played along and he became intrigued - now its a daily part of our routine - about 3 times a day we do the shell game and the muffin tin game. I am so grateful for coming upon your training techniques!

Such a great video and a simple way to teach sit. Our 10 year old corgi passed back in December. This past weekend my wife and I went and picked up a new a new corgi puppy. She's ridiculously smart, and energetic. Using this method, not only does she now understand sit and stay, but she understands them in both English (my native language) and Japanese (my wife's native language) and we've only had her in the house for 3 days! Thank you!

I love how you explain each step little by little and once you actually say the command they already understand it because you just showed them so patiently and consistently. You really break it down to us how to break it down to them. I'm getting frustrated with my puppy, but that's my own fault for not being a good teacher. The most striking part of this is how you only have to say the command calmly and gently and they will listen- if you train them correctly. Thanks for showing me how.

Just from my experience, I have found some puppies learn much quicker then other puppies. It also depends a lot on how much the puppy loves you and trusts you and how much the puppy wants to show you they listen and learn and wants to please you, and not just for the treat. Patience is also very important and not to use harsh words or show anger if they don't get it right away
your training techniques work so well for my puppy, I've only been working with her for a day and she can already, sit, lay down, roll over and crawl. I'm so proud of my smart little goldendoodle

Amy McNay Only asking never works. Wanting a dog is the one page. Caring for one is the other. And its never like in movies. Dogs dont play basketball or seem to never relieve themselves. They are exhausting, demanding but lovable companions. But they are not only there for you to play or train all day. They are living beings. And only who respects that and is aware of the HUGE responsibility and amount of work they demand, is really ready to have one.

But, if your mom doesn't like going out a lot then easily tell her about rainy days. On rainy days nobody could ever get bored with a little puppy running around. Make sure you don't whine or tell her everyday. This takes time. It took me like a few months after I got my strategy down. But I've wanted one since I was like 4 and 8 years later here I am😂 Also don't forget TELL HER HOW CUTE THEY ARE IN COSTUMES AND JUST IN GENERAL LIKE OMFG THEYRE BEAUTIFUL FURRY BABIES😭💕 So yeah. Also look for cheap dogs online maybe Craigslist cause on there they can be free or less than like 300 so that's good. And even better, look in shelters. Always look there first. They're cheaper and in much more need of a home. So try to do good 😊 much luck on this new adventure you're on. Should be easier since your dad wants one. Hope this helps

I just wanna share this. I have 6 dogs. 4 of them knows how to sit because someone trained them. The 6th dog is a Husky pup. I watched this video 2 times to train my husky pup, Laika. Guess what?

But I do feel like some of these videos are becoming very repetitive. You have so many videos in the past that relates to how to teach the puppies the basics - sits, stay, down, wait..etc (the videos are named differently, but they are essentially the same thing!) I understand that these are the basic essentials that most readers are looking for, but it becomes kind of repetitive for your subscribers. It'd be really nice if you can look into more of the suggested topics from the comments section and have some more refreshing content!

I agree, he does more of that later, but it's a balance of showing the right command and response vs wasting 30 minutes showing failure. ; ) Maybe editing it in.
Hey zak, I was wondering if you could post some more higher level training videos, Ive been using your videos since my dog was a puppy and now were starting to get ready to start agility and possibly disc dog, your old videos have some good info, but you dont seem to post high level training very much anymore.
Also any idea why positive only training is common in agility and rally but people in obedience seem still so focused on using punishment?
Newer dog sports are created mainly for pet dogs and positive training was already the common way to train dogs when sports were started. Traditional obedience is for displaying dogs' working abilities at the best including controlled aggression. I don't think that the modern obedience trainers use a lot of punishment, but they use higher level of pressure than positive trainers. Rally and agility are like weekend tennis and traditional obedience is more like martial arts. Personally, I don't get Rally at all. Maybe, it's just foundation works for canine freestyle.
snarfed snarfer People tend to use punishment because it helps with frustration from their failure, it's also fairly easy to do.
snarfed snarfer Rally, agility, flyball etc are all more of a game to the dog and they really enjoy doing them. All you need to do is teach the basics with R+ and then the sport itself is usually positive reinforcement enough to keep them going. There's also a larger margin of error.
Obedience has to be meticulous and spot on, you can have points deducted for the most minute errors. Generally you can get a very good foundation with R+, but P+ and R- are usually used to get quicker reactions times, tighten up cues (e.g heel) and deal with extremely high levels of distraction and pressure.
There are positive only obedience trained dogs, but the sport is dominated by balanced trained dogs.
Post positive training people against dog sports like agility, disc, etc because they think that dogs are kept in excitement for sports. Even training with R+ is not guilt-free.
