🇦🇺I’ve learned something from watching people gardening is you never know when you will have bumper crops and when a crop will fail. Plan to have enough for two or more year, just in case. You can always bless others that can’t garden for whatever reason.

I'm definitely putting sweet potatoes in my garden next year. GOD BLESSED US WITH A BOUNTIFUL HARVEST of tomatoes this year. Starting to plan what to plant next year. You guys amaze me! I’m an old lady that is trying to give the homesteading life a go. We are ready to get a cow to raise of which I’ve never done, my husband farmed a long time ago. Lol, I feel like the Green Acres couple. I’m from the city, but not New York. 😅. I have one question. Did you guys know you were going to do all this when you got married? I’m sure you think it’s a silly question, but I have no idea. Just wondering what your expectations were. To me, I think you probably were raised doing all this, and it’s just what you knew what you would do. It’s a way of life. Well I think it’s such a beautiful thing! You have a beautiful family, keep up the awesome work you do in so many ways, and may God keep blessing you forever! I love the way you both think. You are a power couple doing the lords work. Zee 😊❤
Neither of us were raised farming - nothing outside of growing a couple rows of peas and tomatoes growing up

Great sweet potato haul! Hearing you say what it takes to grow the sweet potatoes kinda makes me feel less like I failed in growing them. I planted starts that I purchased online which were sent to me based on our last frost date. They didn’t survive and I thought it was me lol (certainly not outside the realm of possibility). My husband really enjoys them but honestly I do not care for them so I kinda decided I wouldn’t mess with them but instead just make it a point to pick some up from a local farmer. Loved seeing the joy on those smiling little faces helping you. 😊

Oh wow, Daddy used to put ours in a dark shed and covered with layers of pine straw they lasted a long time but never enough. We loved sweet potatoes more than regular potatoes. Congrats on the great haul of great food

Since we don't have room in the city to plant potatoes I go to a potato farm/ 400 pounds later back home and will be processing this week about 200 pounds. The others should last us since we eat lots of potatoes. God's blessing to you and yours

I believe its time for my sweet potatoes to harvest. This is my first time. I have marked 120 days. Pray I get some. Glad your doing this not sure where to put mine.
I have a herd dog on the farm, that’s in his breed you can’t train that trait out of them , I love my dog , even when he hurt one of my chickens, I just watch him better, he is a great help on our farm , they will learn and be great dogs for your farm, and great protection 😇🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️

A majority of our sweet potatoes weighed over 2 lbs. I've canned some but am waiting on my new canning kitchen to be completed to can the rest. We love the canned potatoes the best.
I don’t pc my sweet potatoes for the recommended time. Unless you want for pies and such. I cut my time back by 10 mins to be able to put in a good sugar syrup just to heat up.

Our first year growing sweet potatoes we still have till Nov before we can dig. Hope it doesn’t get to cold for them. We’re in South AL.

I like my canned white potatoes better, too! The only thing is they don't make good mashed potatoes. I've never canned sweet potatoes. I can butternut squash, and I like that better than fresh, also.

That’s a great harvest! We’re in NJ so still have a few more weeks before harvesting our sweet potatoes. Pulled some up earlier today just to check on them. They’re more like the first ones you showed. Long and slender. Thanks for sharing and hair and nails look wonderful!
Give them a little longer! If it starts getting cool and you have a tarp/ just cover them - I'm not sure what NJ weather is like but they grow like crazy here!
