Portland, Jamaica, the home of the world's beautiful Blue Lagoon. Most of Jamaica is beautiful but Portland is postcard beautiful.

My mother's house is about three miles up the road from "Ythan Side" in a community name Plum Valley. She recently moved back part-time to her birthplace after 39 years of living in D.C. The man who chopped the coconut for you, Mr. Palmer Everett, have the same maiden name as my mother. I will definitely ask her some questions about some of the things I saw in your vlog. On another note, you are a natural on the camera. You have a serious talent that can really make you into a good TV personality. You have a great personality and likability which are qualities that cannot be taught. Your energy and storytelling comes across naturally and the way how you interact with the people you interview really gets the attention of your viewers.
I don't know what's your profession but you should consider taking some journalism classes just to get some basic understanding about the business. You already have all the skills set; you are well spoken, you have a great personality, you know how to talk to people and you are likable. You are a beautiful dark skinned young lady with a natural gift. Don’t let your great talent go to waste.

This is by far the most authentic clip I have seen of my side of Portland. Everything is the real deal except one basic Portland Principle. You drink the coconut jelly water outta the coconut itself. Great job and keep up the good work. Portland has even more to offer. Nuff Respect. Love your work.

I spent all my childhood holidays in deep rural St Ann, a likkle district outside Browns Town (Heighland), so naturally St. Ann is my favourite parish, I also love St. Mary (Tower Isle) and Portland.

@ Jessica Guess You know Top Road, after you pass Browns Town Tabernacle take the right and follow that road, take the next right and go up the hill "Road quite bad and that will take you to Benning... After you pass Benning just follow the road straight until you cant drive no further! Lol that is a forgotten village Heighland (spelling incorrect).
It was once a nice farming village, all mined out by bauxite.

Yes Jackfruit can be cooked like meat. Almost every restaurant here include a Jackfruit dish as part of the vegan offer. I have seen even Jackfruit pizza.
When we went to bush in St. Mary and come back had to sit on the back step and pick burr off our clothes for hours ☺️ sweet memory.

This is my youth as a country bumpkin. I grew up not too far from Orange Bay, as he said exactly at the seashore. Thanks bunches from the bottom of my heart. It's been more than 50 years; water come a mi eye.
My family and I fell in love with Portland on our visit back home to Ja. Now we make it apart of every trip we make back each year. Yes no cell service, it is absolutely a retreat. The detachment I believe is one of the reason it and the Portie ppl dem stay so down to earth and genuine. #PortlandJA #countrylifnice

@4:48. Those are seeds. That is how they spread. That is not from the tree, it is from shrub. When animals walk near it, it sticks to their coat. When they scratch it off, the seeds spread and more plants grow.

Portland is the lushest parish in Jamaica. The land of “wood and water” is particularly descriptive of Portland.

Just for the education of the folks who knoweth not that deers were in Jamaica here is a bit to know....In 1978 the then Owners of the Somerset falls in Hope Bay brought some young Deers to the property there and when hurricane Allen came in 1980 the pastures in which they were being gron was damaged. The Deers wondered about the hilly areas then until they discovered that they could travel in the holls for more food without reatrain until today they still run wild.

Clarendon inland is very lush with endless amount of orchards, especially oranges, grapefruit, ugly fruit and tangerines. There usually are many bodies of water with fish, shrimps and eels.Most of the parish has heavy agriculture including animal husbandry. The area is very mountainous but flat along Jamaica's south coast. There is also a mineral bath that its potential needs to be more surveyed.

First time seeing this channel, I like it.The first time I went to Portland was on a school trip. Best parish in the world ( other countries have parishes too).Also I think they brought in the reindeers back in the 70s or 80s and they just breed up.

I spent about 2 days in Portland a few years ago. I agree it is beautiful. I thought it was the most beautiful in Jamaican parish. I then spent some time in St Elizabeth and was blown away by the beauty there. I have been to every parish in Jamaica but there is still so much more to see. All of Jamaica is beautiful and it is hard to say which is the most beautiful parish.
