This is the elevator in the center court of Lakeside Mall. This is a nice vintage Westinghouse with a glass cab and AE fixtures. This elevator seems to be in really good shape. I like how it starts going down instantly when the doors close on UL.
In the year between my first videos here and this revisit, Lakeside Mall has gone seriously downhill. It wasn't nearly as busy as 2018's visit, and lots of stores in the mall have closed. And it certainly wasn't helped by the closure of Lord & Taylor about two weeks after I filmed this. The silver lining to this was that I was able to ride this lift all by myself for once.
The mall has since been sold to a small real estate company, and they seem to be cutting corners on maintenance. The demise of Lakeside Mall is now inevitable, as the retail apocalypse is being sped up by the pandemic-induced recession.
The reason for the abrupt end to this video is that there was a security guard on the second floor staring at me from outside the elevator. When I saw him, I stopped my camera, pressed the LL button, and walked to Lord & Taylor. The guard actually followed me all the way there. He was walking towards L&T on the second floor, not very close to me, but close enough for me to notice that he was following me. I was later told by another guard not to film in the mall when I attempted to film another elevator here (video coming soon).

This elevator is permanently defunct!
Awesome video TKE! This mall seems to struggle, though the elevator kind of reminds me of both Tuttle Crossing and Tweleve Oaks
This place is basically a clone of what Twelve Oaks was like when they first built it, they were both developed by Taubman in the mid-70s. Twelve Oaks likely had an Otis Lexan though, before it was ripped out and replaced with today's Schindlers.
Moving hornrt nest
Another place to put on the bad list now lol
For sure. I'm not filming Lakeside again until an anchor closes.
Yikes
