53 yrs old now, but I still clearly remember my mom, aunties, their friends, & hell, even their mothers all and I mean ALL of them, had huge crushes on Sir Tom Jones. Whenever he came on the TV, they would crowd around it & get all giggly like a bunch of school girls. It was funny how they'd yell at us kids (or the husbands) to keep the noise down so they could hear him sing. :-)
Elvis Presley was a fan & close friend, often saying that Tom's voice was the best he's ever heard. In fact, Tom's nickname is "The Voice". He is from Wales, UK & celebrated his 80th b-day last June. He can still belt out the songs & was still doing shows until all this stupid COVID business became a reality...
I remember watching clips of his concerts & all the women were either fainting & passing out onto the floor or throwing their panties on stage. As a kid, i didn't understand what was driving these ladies so crazy to strip off their underwear to toss them and their hotel room keys at his feet. Now I do understand, it is called the "Tom Jones Effect"LOL - no joke! When you watch other reactors, you can actually see it happen - on their faces, in their eyes, & the body swaying to the music when Tom's smooth, melodic, yet powerful voices hits them.
Ok, you must now check out She's a Lady, It's not unusual, & KISS (with the British band called Art of Noise - they did a cover of Prince's big hit).

Back in the day.....it was low tech and high talent. Now its low talent and high tech. If we've learned anything at all from these reaction videos.... its that the talent is what matters most. In the music world...an Image was NOTHING if you could not perform or sing to back it up. The day the music industry decided image trumped talent was the day the music died.

Loved watching your reaction! My mom loved Tom Jones and I recall being very small and watching him on TV, even at a very young age I could see why she was drawn to him. Definitely a star, such a talent. Makes me happy to see younger generations experiencing him and appreciating him!

My aunt/ Godmother took me to see him back in late 70s, I was 16 first time seeing him in 1978 second time was in 1979 still love him!! My aunt threw her panties on stage lol she first met and seen him back in 1961, I met him both times I went to see him in 1978 and 79, I've seen him 7 times since then, even at 80 he's still got it!!!

Look for some duets Tom did back then. They`re great too. There is a good one with Janis Joplin.
In high school, I was a doorman for a theater Tom played a lot. Tom always packed the house and put on an awesome show. Most of his audience were women and they went NUTS for him. I kid you not, dozens and dozens of panties were thrown at him. Hell even bras and lingerie made it to the stage. He is a total pro, never a bad performance and knew how to please his fans.

People who worked for him said he always had women i. His hotel after the show. Often picked from the audience. There was probably more than kissing going on with those sisters. Yes and the panties with the phone and hotel numbers. Also his wife, yes he married very young, said she was afraid of flying so she did not accompany him on tour, but occasionally if he was doing a show in the UK or maybe she would get a boat and visit him if he was on a long tour. His managers of that time said that as the wife came in the front door of the hotel the girls were sneaked out the fire escape. It was their system. Even though there were paternity suits his wife refused to believe all the rumours. He danced but not usually that wildly. That was for the benefit of the sisters. He was showing them that he could handle them both.
