Rapidan Dam fails to keep the flood waters back as MN River sets record flood levels

- The unusually large amount of widespread and ongoing rainfall has lead to much flooding of lakes and rivers and consequentially homes and other vital infrastructure. Our hearts go out to those affected.
The dam is no longer holding the water back for maintaining the lake. It looks like the river has taken its place back in Minnesota.
It's the Blue Earth River.

‘looks to me like the dam is doing just fine. How could they let this happen? Extreme negligence.
I like the flight from upstream down to the dam! No one is really showing the changes happening to the upstream run as result of the head-cutting. Do you know if the rapids at the bend were always there or new?
I dont think they were at least not at that extent at all.
The Watonwan River comes in from the west just upstream. Given the amount of fall there were probably a series of rapids.
Looks to me, the dam is doing just fine.

What type of drone did you use. Are they difficult to fly
It's a DJI mini 2 which are around 500 bucks and you'll want to practice with other inexpensive drones like 25 bucks to get used to function of controls. If your comfortable with drone controls then the DJI mini 2 is easy to fly and even has return to home so that in the event you loose signal or will return to your home point , being where you started the flight from or wherever you want it it to go back to there's a setting. It has satelights that use GPS to do this

I wonder if the river is going to create an oxbow lake? If it does, it might erode through the town.
I could see that happening after seeing how easily that side eroded into the river . it does look like it wants to bypass that bend
