So, in the last trailer, that big thing that those 2 guys fused into is called an "Archon". It's typically a last resort as it sacrifices the valuable lives of those who form it, for a short term effect. They're like a dying star going supernova, burst of power that will burn out. Also, as you can see, they have enough power to essentially turn themselves into a mini-black hole.
the crazy thing is the stronger the High Templar the stronger the Archon and if the Templars make one vital mistake during the Fuse it will just die on creation or if they can't keep their emotions in check can become "Twisted" and go on a rampage. The lore behind these beings are my fav in the Starcraft universe
The Protoss people (not all, only that faction from their home planet) use a kind of global telepathic network for sharing thoughts, filling and memories, so if someone dies, his memory and feelings remain to live in their Khala, the others people still fill their "soul", they are not dead into others minds. But those templars who have sacrified themselves for archon, disappears from their Khala, their souls are lost forever. So it's even bigger then just sacrifying the lives, it's about sacrifying souls
The coolest one IMO is the third trailer because it represents game mechanics best. In layman’s terms, The little bot teleports in a pylon which takes 30 seconds (just like the game), the one sword guy tanks an exploding bug with his shield before the next kills him (all protoss units have shields), the two magic guys merge into the big one (the big thing is an archon, and you get them by merging two high templars), and then as soon as the pylon completes, all the Protoss units can warp in around it, which is a major mechanic in game and one of their big advantages.
@@Tibirium295 Oh yea 90 sec. By the time your first pylon finished, terran will get 5 marines 3 marauders with stim lmao. That's why protoss sucks, blizzard pls fix.
Last trailer, the Protoss's 'braided hair' are their Nerve Cords that allow them to use the Khala and link together. The Protoss basically did James Cameron's Avatar, before James Cameron. And yeah its more a communal link they all share their emotions and thoughts with one another. The guy narrating the first trailer is Arcturus Mengsk who is not a good guy at all, he's responsible for betraying Kerrigan which resulted in her being turned into the Queen of Blades to begin with. The Flashback of the second trailer was actually a Flashforward(Or rather a premonition). As Kerrigan got turned into the Queen of Blades then Deinfested, then she becomes the Queen of Blades again. The foreshadowing of that second trailer is her assaulting Korhal and trying to kill Mengsk who manipulated his way into becoming the leader of the Terrans. Kerrigans story definitely is tragic and interesting given by the end of the first Starcraft and its Expansion she was the self proclaimed "Queen Bitch of the Universe" Since she had manipulated previous friends and enemies for her own gain and destroyed a great deal of their forces.(She's a complicated character that's shifted from Hero, to Villain, to Hero again as the story progressed.)
@@494Farrell the story is over 20 years old, spoilers at this point would be like saying Peter Parker became spiderman when he was bitten by a radioactive-spider. That statement is too old to call a spoiler.
If by interesting you mean irritating, sure. Too many writers that had different ideas where to take the character, her SC2 story arc is the weakest part of the SC2 story.
@@christopherjohnson2171 I would agree that she was far more intersting throughout Starcraft 1 and Broodwar. Starcraft 2 in my opinion made the mistake of turning a general Galaxy Power Struggle (essentially Game of Thrones in Space) into your typical "save the universe from an evil overlord" plot. I think Wings of Liberty was still great for the most part, but it went more generic from there. That being said, I still overall think the series has one of the most enjoyable campaigns in RTS history.
She is extremely observant 😃🥰 We watched God of War and even though I played the game she was better at figuring out who was who and what was going on 😂 She correctly identified Persephone and then also wondered if Kratos had gotten his wings from Icarus which I was like, I hadn’t even remembered that
Whispers: "She's cool." "She" referring of course to Sarah Kerrigan, the Queen of Blades. The creation of her character has a story behind it as well as she's sort of taken from the real world. Her real-life counterpart is Nancy Ann "Queen of Blades" Kerrigan, a figure skater (Hence the 'blades' part of her moniker) from Massachusetts USA. Seven weeks before the 1994 Winter Olympics, she was assaulted by a hired goon that bludgeoned her leg. Aiming to disable her from being able to compete in the Olympics. The assault was planned by rival Tonya Harding's ex-husband Jeff Gillooly and co-conspirator Shawn Eckardt. Despite the attack, she went on to earn the silver medal with her performance. Not too shabby with a lame leg. So yea, I'd say both Kerrigans are pretty cool.
She was a "Ghost" , very highly effective at killing people via sniper style. She was out of ammo and needed extraction. But was abandoned, the zerg didn't kill her but captured her and turned her into the "Queen of blades" and she ended up being the zerg leader and used the zerg to get her revenge for being abandoned. (long story short)
The story of Starcraft is one of the best Sci Fi stories I have ever witnessed, but it does take a bit of research to understand. In order to do that, if you wish, you can react to the full cinematics of each campaign, each has around 1 hour or so, give or take 5-10 mins. I would surely stay and watch you do that kind of reaction, maybe in multiple parts, because the story is worth it.
The one SF game story that blew my mind was Mass Effect - mostly talking about the first game. You could say that StarCraft did it first by hinting at the Xel'Naga like in 1998, but mass effect finished the story first.
As I said, starcraft is ONE of the best Sci Fi stories, Mass Effect being a nother one that deserves all the praise. Unfortunately, ME is hard to follow if you do not actually play the game, since it has few cinematics per se, unlike Starcraft, which can be followed and understood and there are cinematic compilations for every race campaign out there
Also for context, as SC2 builds on the story from the first game and expansion: The Terrans were initially sent to the Koprulu Sector as colonists formed of the dregs of humanity: convicts and whatnot, who formed the Terran Confederacy, modeled after the old Confederacy from the Civil War. Their racial feel amongst the three major players is that of the scrappy underdog who is able to adapt to different situations via transformation tech: Siege tanks, Viking air/ground fighters (those ships in the second trailer), and other units. They first meet the alien Zerg when the colonies of Chau Sara and Mar Sara on the fringes of Confederate space are overrun, the last remaining forces fleeing with Marshal James Raynor, who is picked up by the alleged terrorist group known as the Sons of Korhal. Arcturus Mengsk is their leader (the guy who was talking in the first trailer), and he recruits Raynor to assist him in taking down the corrupt Confederate rule (he has a personal grudge against them for nuking the shit out of his homeworld of Korhal after they declared independence). Raynor and a special psionic Ghost operative named Sarah Kerrigan work together on several missions recruiting allies and taking down Confederate facilities, and eventually form a tenuous relationship. Then the betrayal happened: while implementing Mengsk's plan to station psi-emitters on the Confederate capitol planet Tarsonis to lure the Zerg swarm to the planet and take out the Confederacy once and for all, Raynor objects to what amounts to mass genocide, but is overruled by Mengsk. Kerrigan plants the emitters, but is then left on Tarsonis by Mengsk after his plan is achieved and the Zerg begin to overrun the planet. Raynor swore to kill Mengsk for leaving her behind, and also blamed himself for not being able to save her, retreating to the fringe worlds again to reform his own group and fight against Mengsk's new Terran Dominion. Kerrigan was not killed by the Zerg, however. The Zerg Overmind, the hive consciousness that directed the swarm, took her to be it's champion, and infested her body, turning her into a Zerg/Terran hybrid. Her psionic potential was heightened and she was wholly subsumed by the will of the Overmind (think like how the Borg on Star Trek assimilate others). She led the swarm to retake their homeworld of Char from the Terran and Protoss forces there, and then led the invasion of the Protoss homeworld of Aiur, completely destroying the Protoss civilization and sending the remnants fleeing to other worlds. The Protoss are a highly advanced psionic race of aliens from the sector, who utilize both AI robotics and psionic mastery to expand their empire. Their approach to the Zerg initially was to essentially exterminate them and all other life on a planet they had infested via orbital bombardment (this happened to several Terran worlds, but as they'd had no contact with Terrans before they didn't see any problem with their plans). They are all connected by a psi-field known as the Khala, which has allowed them to overcome their prior clan differences and become a unified race. Their abilities to create psionic blades and storms of energy are unrivaled, even by the Terran Ghosts who are also psionic practitioners, although not nearly the same level. One heroic Executor, Tassadar, combined his own energies with that of the outcast Dark Templar to destroy the Overmind on Aiur, making Kerrigan the new leader of the swarm, but they were still unable to reclaim their world. So there you have it. Raynor's Raiders are out to bring down the Dominion now because EMPEROR Mengsk is a huge fascist dick, Kerrigan is out to get vengeance on Mengsk for turning her into the infested monster she is now, and the Protoss aim to reclaim Aiur from the Swarm, all of these things take place in SC2 :P
Thanks for filling us in on the story. This is one where we will have to watch the in game stuff in a reaction and just watch the whole story that way in parts 😎
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames You may want to watch a compilation that includes the in-mission cutscenes and important dialogues rather than strictly the cinematics. Actual fully rendered cutscenes like these aren't common during the campaigns, so limiting your viewing to them tends to leave gaps that are difficult to fill in through inference alone. =)
Evil badass lady is Kerrigan, good human who got turned to Zerg in the first game. You rescue her in Wings of Liberty, but she still has flashbacks to her Zerg side. The end of the second trailer is actually the present, and the rest of it is the flashback.
Well, the Heart of the Swarm is actually a premonition of the end of her campaign, not a flashback :p And at the end of the cinmatic is the present, where you start her campaign
each to their own but i really dont think she is evil she did what she had to do sure she did go a little to far but hey i wouldn't blame her for having her mind a little twisted after what happened to her
The prisoner from the first trailer does play a large role in the narrative. There's also some worldbuilding in there since the Terran (humans) recondition their prison inmates to serve as frontline soldiers.
The original Starcraft and Starcraft Broodwar expansion were massive hits. They are Real-Time Strategy games where you play as one of three races; the Terrans (humans), the mutating Zerg, and the Protoss (the aliens from the last trailer). Starcraft was HUGE in Korea, you could watch Starcraft tournaments on TV nearly 24/7 there. The Zerg and Protoss were created by another advanced race who sought to create the perfect lifeform. When the Protoss didn't achieve the perfection they wanted, they made the Zerg, only to have the Zerg turn on them.
Damn, watching these trailers again after so many years and playing the games (SC fan here) just makes me remember how f*cking epic they are and the chills I felt the 1st time!
Super stoked when I saw this title pop up! Hardcore Starcraft fan, been playing since 1998, and still play SC2 from time to time. The game series has one of the very best stories in video game franchises EVER in my opinion! Edit: After watching the reaction, I can tell that in the last trailer, the telepathic "aliens", known as Protoss, does technically have hair, but it also functions as their connection to the Kalah, which is their sort of collective spiritual community. The first trailer shows Tychus Findlay, a close friend to the main protagonist, Jim Raynor, from Wings of Liberty. The second trailer, Heart of the Swarm, shows the Zerg swarm invading a Terran planet. The swarm is depicted there as following the directions of The Queen of Blades, who became assimilated and turned from being a human in the first installment of the franchise, Starcraft 1. Her true name is Sarah Kerrigan, and the trailer actually finishes with her waking up in a lab AFTER she has been turned back into a human. (Mostly. She still has the Zerg dreadlocks for hair). Kerrigan's story is a real sad one, and her quest for vengeance is rightly justified. She was left to die at the hands of the Swarm by her former leader Arcturus Mengsk during a mission. But instead of dying, the Zerg Overmind, basically the Brain consensus of the entire Zerg Swarm at this point, saw what use Kerrigan was, and what her potential purpose would be. It should be noted that Kerrigan was formerly what is called a Ghost, a shadow operative with psionic powers, and her powers were stronger than most. In any case, in Starcraft: Brood War, the expansion for the first game, the Overmind is slain and his hold over Kerrigan's will vanishes, leaving her in charge of the Swarm. Also, at this point, she is a cold hearted b***h on the hunt for Arcturus' head. It should also be mentioned that Jim Raynor was also under the command of Arcturus for a while, up until the Betrayal, as he and Kerrigan had a thing going. Jim is the one who ultimately brings Kerrigan back from being a Zerg. I'm not going to spoil more, because there is sooo much story in the games that they are needed to be played to get the full experience. I do however recommend watching The Betrayal of Sarah Kerrigan cinematic, it really is a sad moment. That entire conversation is present in-game in Starcraft 1.
Each of these trailers is tied to one of the campaigns of Starcraft II and the race that features centrally in each campaign. Wings of Liberty, the Terran campaign, focuses on James Raynor and his rebellion attempting to overthrow Arcturus Mengsk, the brutal dictator of the Terran Dominion. The person we see being armored up in the trailer is Raynor's old raiding buddy, Tychus Findley, being suited up for combat (Mengsk takes convicts and uses them as cheap disposable cannon fodder in his military). However, near the start of the campaign, it's revealed Tychus escaped his unit and he meets up with Raynor, shortly after which, the Zerg (think the Borg, except they're only really concerned with the biological aspects of a species instead of the technological ones) attack the planet looking for a Xel'Naga artifact and they're forced to flee. After they escape, they learn that the swarm is being led by Sarah Kerrigan, a human who was subsumed into the swarm near the end of the Terran campaign in the previous game, becoming a unique Zerg morph due to her psychic abilities. The next campaign is Heart of the Swarm. After Kerrigan is reverted to her human form at the end of Wings of Liberty, Raynor is captured by the Terran Dominion and his rebellion routed. With no other options, Kerrigan returns to the Zerg, putting her swarm back together and learning the secrets of the Zerg's history. In the ancient past, the Xel'Naga race came to the Zerg homeworld, uplifting the Zerg as the Xel'Naga believed the Zerg held a purity of essence, in our terms, great evolutionary potential. However, the Xel'Naga Amon sought to use the Zerg as a weapon against his kind, so created a Zerg morph called the Overmind to act as an extension of his will and bind the Zerg in a hive mind. The Zerg wiped out the other Xel'Naga, but Amon was sent back to the void in the process, leaving the Overmind directionless. Thus, the Overmind decided to act on Amon's final thoughts before he was cast out, the destruction of the Protoss and their homeworld of Aiur (which occurred in the previous game). Amon viewed the Protoss as a threat because they had what the Xel'Naga called Purity of Form, great psychic potential. If the Zerg and Protoss were allowed to combine into one species, it would result in the creation of a new race of Xel'Naga, thus perpetuating a cycle that Amon believed was broken and flawed. After Kerrigan exacted her vengeance on Arcturus Mengsk, she leaves to seek out the remaining Xel'Naga and a way to stop Amon from ever returning. This brings us to the final campaign, Legacy of the Void. The Protoss Executor Artanis is preparing to lead an invasion to retake Aiur from the Zerg, but is warned by Zeratul that if he goes through with the invasion, he'll be playing directly into Amon's hand. Artanis ignores Zeratul, and the Protoss are possessed by Amon through the Khalaa, a kind of psychic hivemind in which the thoughts and memories of all Protoss are preserved. Zeratul frees Artanis from Amon's possession by severing Artanis' nerve cords (the braids on the back of a Protoss' head), but at the cost of his own life. After saving a few of his warriors and being aided by Zeratul's dark templar, Artanis manages to flee aboard the Protoss arkship the Spear of Adun. The remainder of Legacy of the Void focuses on Artanis seeking a way to unite the disparate Protoss factions against Amon and the Zerg under his control.
man, that LotV trailer I still remember seeing it for the first time when it came out and chills I got - and no matter how many times I watch it I get the same chills the other trailers are fantastic as well, but LotV hits different
Oh man, StarCraft is my JAM lol. I was like 12 when I played the original game back in the early 2000s (late 90s? I lose track of time lol). Only ever played the Wings of Liberty campaign from StarCraft 2 but I've watched compilation videos on RUclips to show me everything in Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void. They ended up taking the story to kind of a weird place at the end, but overall the ride getting there was awesome. Sarah Kerrigan is one of my favorite video game characters of all time. I'd be happy to give you a rundown on her story if you want, but I'm not going to just throw out several paragraphs of backstory into your comment section unless you'd like me to. I'd be happy to answer whatever questions you had, actually. I don't know EVERYTHING, but I'm pretty well versed in the world and the plot of the games. Oh, and the comparison you made to Warhammer 40k is a pretty appropriate one. I believe Blizzard was inspired by it when they originally created StarCraft way back when. StarCraft is one of those game franchises I could ramble on about at length, so I'll cut it here unless there was anything else you'd like to know. :)
We don’t know enough to really ask questions yet. We will have to check out some of the story cinematics out there for this game and a recap of Starcraft 1 as well 😅
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames I definitely recommend the official in-game cinematics, they're gorgeously animated and tell a large portion of the story. There's a good chance you may get a little lost though, because the cinematics only pop up every few missions and there are definitely some gaps where a lot of the plot develops in smaller cutscenes inside of missions (that aren't really as casual viewer friendly). If you're looking for a recap of the events that happened leading up to the start of StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty, there's a Story So Far video that released alongside it: ruclips.net/video/rtGSos4af2E/видео.html That might help you catch up a bit. :)
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames If you do that, you should be aware that some missions in Starcraft II can have two different outcomes and you get a different cinematic for each. Most "Cinematic compilation" videos I know just mush them together, confusing many people who don't know the games: "Wait, what? Wasn't this person just killed in the last cinematic?" or something like that. Just something I thought I'd mention to avoid confusion ;)
First trailer... you have to understand that when that trailer dropped, it had been a decade since anything had happened in the Starcraft franchise. So the fans were hungry for darn near anything. The voiceover is narrated by a character from the previous entry in the series called Arcturus Mengsk who ended up basically Emperor by virtue of screwing over literally everyone who mattered. Including abandoning his best asset, Sarah Kerrigan (more on her later) to the Zerg (the bugs). That final statement 'it's about time' hit so hard when it released because the fans were like 'yea, it's about time you did something with the franchise that was wildly popular and successful'. Also, the guy suiting up becomes a supporting character in the game. That's a basic Marine Suit he's being strapped into. Second trailer... Scary Purple Chick is Sarah Kerrigan, who got abandoned to the Zerg and... assimilated, borg style. At the end of the previous installation, the big overarcing plot point is that she was running the Swarm (the entire faction of the bugs) and coming after Mengsk for basically being responsible for what she became. She got kind-of de-zerg-ified because Plot at the end of the previous game. What you are seeing here is her desire for revenge, and a very small fraction of what she could call down when she ran the swarm. Themes of revenge run all throughout this installation, and she's the main protagonist of the piece as she wrestles with who/what she is and what price she is willing to pay for her vengeance. The final scene is her waking up from her... dream? flashback? Something like that. But she's mostly human at the start of this game, as you see at the end of the trailer. Third trailer... man, this was an awesome fight scene, wasn't it? So, that little one-eye robot? That's a Probe. They basically set up the big glowing orb to 'warp in' prefabricated buildings, but it takes time. The building that warped in was a Pylon. Protoss have the ability to teleport near a Pylon, so having one lets you bring in the reinforcements as you saw at the end of the trailer. They are a psionic and psychic race, think of the 'Kala' as something like an Internet of Minds. Everything is out there, some of it is more accessible than others. What they were describing is... think of it like a psychic LAN that all the protoss are hooked up to. Free-flow of information to make sure everyone knows what is going on where, letting them instantly react to things going on even if they didn't personally see it. Also, those two guys melding into one big dude. Those were basically space-wizards. Okay, they're psychic not magic, but... space wizards is close enough. You can sacrifice two of them to make the Archon, the big guy, but that transformation is permanent, so you generally only do it as a last resort. The bugs took their homeworld in Starcraft, they want it back.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames you also mentioned a connection to Warhammer 40k and your spot on there Starcraft was originally planed as a Warhammer 40k game in collaboration with Games Workshop but GW was mother hening Blizzard to much over the details and Blizzard backed out and made Starcraft with what was left
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames: Another way to think of the "khala" as it's called is like they are all of one mind. They are individuals with individual wills, but they see one another as an extension of themselves. They cannot hate one another any more than you could hate your own hand. According to the Lore, the discovery of the Khala ended the incessant warring between protoss factions. The Dark Templar are a separatist faction that rejected the unity of the Khala for the sake of their individuality, but the rest deify it for how it ended their conflict.
In the Stracraft univer there is 3 principale species The Teran,The Zerg,The Protoss. The Teran are basic human ,The girl that you see is Kerrigan she was once a Teran a psychic to be more precise wich mean she could control psionic power(The psionic is the name of the "magic" for the human, but for exemple for the protoss its called the khala)she was part of a group called Ghost wich were basically mercenary send for assasination they used Psionic to cloak themself but she got betray by Arcturus Mengsk wich is the leader of a big part of the Terran she got left for dead on a planet invaded by zerg .She was captured and bring back to a Hive were The Swarm transform her into the what she is now "The queen of blades" she gain many abilities and she took the head of the Swarm to go kill Arcturus Mengsk while doing so she will radically change both mentaly and physically and she will take control of many Zerg clan on many planet to make the Swarm stronger. The Zerg are evolving creature they can assimilate the DNA of the species they encounter to mutate and adpate themself. The Protoss are Humanoid creature wich are technologically more advance then human cause they are all capable of using psionic power that they call Khala the thing is that their home land got destroy by the invasion of the Swarm so they swear to destroy it.They consider themself as supperior to human so they will not hesitate to destroy anything on their path to clear the Zerg infestetion.
Wings of Liberty : Evil Sarah Kerrigan ( Queen of Blades) turned into Zerg by the Overmind since Starcraft1 but also corrupted by the Dark God Amon Heart of the Swarm: Purified human Sarah Kerrigan that wants revenge on Arcturus Mengsk (the Emperor of the human Dominion) the guy that ditched her to the Zerg in Starcraft1 in the 1st place. She goes on a planet of uncorrupted Zerg and becomes the Primal Queen of Blades( no longer corrupted by Amon) and she gets her revenge at the end. Legacy of the Void: Protoss lost their homeworld in Starcraft1 to the Zerg due to an attack by the "Dark Prelate" Zeratul on a Cerebrate(they were something like Zerg liutenants) with this blade showing the Overmind (The Zerg hive mind at that time) the location of their homeworld.Since then Zeratul was considered guilty for the fall of Aiur. This is how Kerrigan(a Rogue Ghost, Ghost= Human trained to have enhanced psionic abilities) turned into what she is in the 1st trailer ruclips.net/video/9y2sSnRlrT4/видео.html
Haha, you gotta love how dedicated the Starcraft community is...with so many comments talking about the lore within these cutscenes. I've recently started replaying Starcraft 2 for my partner to watch, and it's been a blast. I must have been a teenager when I last played, because it really is a pretty damn good story. I've heard Starcraft was supposed to be a Warhammer 40K game, so if this kind of thing interests you, Bricky's video on Warhammer (each video is an hour long) might be fun to break into pieces and react to. It's a pretty cool universe, if grimdark interests you two.
Nope , Warcraft was thought as a WH40K game , thought got it's own universe after a while of development , but SC2 was intended to have it's own universe .
@@Sorta8 Nah mate games workshop actually went to blizzard to make a game and walked out on the contract. The resulting assets were repurposed and rebranded. After brood war they also have a non legally binding agreement they abide by to avoid terms like cerebrates. The first warcraft was actually before that aborted deal. There is a good reason the original starcraft reeks of warhammer haha
It's reminds you of Warhammer 40K because it was originally intended to be a 40K game but Games Workshop changed their mind and pulled their license at the last minute
imo for the better. The more I got into 40K the more I enjoyed SC for being separate. Too much deus ex machina, the warp being a plot hole fixer, and nothing is canon and everything is canon...Not enough courage to clarify the story. SC is a complete story and if it went the way of 40K it'd be like every other 40K game, a journey to no where. Good for table top, bad for a video game story.
@@peternash7104 I agree to a point, I really can't tell where Games Workshop is going to go with the warp, but I don't see it as a plot hole more of a mcguffin or contrivance to further the plot of their stories, as for SC I agree that it's a fantastic series and the guys at Blizzard did one hell of a job pivoting to their own IP for the game after being I think a year or 2 into the dev cycle.
@@Genesis50000 pretty sure games workshop could easily make a banger that appeals to fans and non fans. If the double down with a Imperial Guard story, or stories, that feels like it has weight similar to battlefield 1, boom success. Lore wise we keep getting told IG is the first and last line of defense and just how important they are. But for games we get Inquisitors, Astarte, or now squad based IG they are all insanely op. Cheapens the threat. Or a rts that cheapens the individual stories. I hope Darktide isn't how it looks, op Left 4 Dead characters that cheapens demons.
@@peternash7104 given the lore I think the IG should be left in the realm of RTS games or in the books or even videos and such, since they typically win through swarm tactics and overwhelming firepower they fit those mediums quite well, I don't think they would fit an FPS very well without breaking the lore unless you play as Sly Marbo perhaps.
1- Trailer : Tycus Findley , he was a Renegade fighting a corrupt government with his buddy Raynor , then Tycus got captured with Raynor , Tycus took all the blame on himself so Raynor goes free and all that, because Kerrigan used to be a human and they (Corrupt goverment) left her behind to die , she turned in to a swarm "Queen of Blades" and has vengeance towards the leader of Terren the (Corrupt government ). 2- She had flashbacks of future event after her "Ex-Boyfriend Raynor" captured her and clense her from evil "Swarm" but the twist is , the swarm isn't actually evil. 3- Cinematic the one eyed Zelot name Kaldalis he was the first Protos to defend his land called tip of the spear . the rest you know by reading other comments i see a lot of mentioned the last trailer so i won't go in details with that :) At the end Tycus had to kill Kerrigan to go Free that was the catch or the "Corrupt leader" would have pulled the trigger and blown up Tycus suit , that had bomb in it , so he was walking dead man ether way . Raynor end up killing his friend because he was basically a poppet (Tycus did bad things agenst his will because he had strings by having that armor on) Tycus isn't a bad guy he just a mercenary for hire. who ever pays the highest I tried to sum it all up in short. :) comment
Did a great summary. Cool to know that first character want just a stock character but has a name. And we need to watch the full movies available on RUclips for this series. Kerrigan seems like such a fascinating character 😃
the cinematics from the games are just...amazing. Highly recommend the entire franchise as the story is amazing. But yes in the Starcraft universe, most Terran marines are ex-convicts, though the story explains more of why that character specifically is being released. the 'it's about time' is an in joke because it took SO LONG for Starcraft 2 (like..over a decade and a half I think) but the whole three games (Starcraft, Starcraft Brood War, and Starcraft 2 all three games) is really Kerrigan's (the cool lady who calls herself queen of blades) story. This is kind of a spoiler lol, but it doesn't give a lot of details in the trailers all told. and the Protoss...well their whole obsession with their homeworld is hard to explain. but the voiceover is Artanis, their leader, who is actually who you play in the first Starcraft game, and becomes an NPC/unit in Brood War then Legacy of the Void. But the Protoss use robotics to "portal" in prefab tech, and then can teleport their soldiers in so thats their basic strategy is to teleport in. but the Protoss achieved "world peace" by unifying their race through the Khala, which is a form of psionic enlightenment. This is a BIG thing as there is an exiled group that removed themselves, and you see the main character from their faction in the Wings of Liberty trailer. But the catch on the "cord' coming from the head is spot on, if you cut the cord they lose their psionic link and can use the powers of the Void. ANYWAY, watching you watching the trailers just gave me goosebumps again. Such an amazing universe.
First trailer: that is one of the ways a Marine is trained, the other way is voluntary, in which case the suit isent stuck on you. Second trailer: so basically the purple chick is called Kerrigan, she was betrayed by her emperor, left behind to be killed by the Zerg (the bug aliens), but instead of being killed, she was assimilated into the Zerg swarm, first as a servant but then ascended into leadership of the swarm. The revenge she talks about it whit the emperor who abandoned her (the statue being destroyed in 7:17 is a statue of him) and you guys had the right idea whit that being her future. Third trailer: those are the Protoss, like they explain, they share their thoughts and emotions whit each other using that "hair" which is actually not hair, but instead is more like a nerve cord, something similar to a secondary spine that links whit others. Also the little robot is called a probe and it warped in a pylon to allow more Protoss to warp in and help.
Great reaction. Its hard to explain the full story StarCraft lore here but there are a couple of short videos by Blizzard that summarizes the lore up to the point before the third trailer, Legacy of the Void. They are as follows: StarCraft 2 Official "The Story So Far". (Summarizes the story from StarCraft 1 up to StarCraft 2 Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm) StraCraft 2 Reclamation. (History of the Protoss race - the advance alien race from Legacy of the Void) As for the full story of StarCraft 2, it is best to react to the cinematic compilations of each game - (there are movie compilations of the cinematics for each game) - to understand the scale of the story from the perspective of each race. So technically 3 games which is done for each race each. Wings of Liberty (Terrans), Heart of the Swarm (Zerg) and finally Legacy of the Void (Protoss).
I cant get enough of you two during this reaction xD your facial expressions are pure joy xD so confused. Im glad I saw it again hahah. I guess sc2 really is a vast, confusing universe for anyone watching it the first time.
So random input: Firstly LOVE you reacted to one of my favorite games of all time, starcraft and starcraft 2. The first trailer, if no one has mentioned it yet, was Blizzard's announcement of Starcraft 2, which is a continuation of starcraft 1 after 10 years without an expansion to it, so it was a slight nod to it when he says " Hell it's bout time" meaning its about time Blizzard gave us a new Starcraft game. Also, my love for this game is so deep, that my daughter is named after the purple chick with the eyes, 'Queen of Blades' when she was taken over by the alien bug creatures, she was actually a human and her human name is Sarah Kerrigan, so my daughters name is Kerrigan. She has a gnarly story arc and there is amazing fighting scenes with her in Sc2 expansions you should check out. Amazing work regardless :)!
That’s adorable you named your daughter Kerrigan 🥰 Quality name and she seems like a fascinating character and we plan on diving in further for this game 😎
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Awesome. There is a lot of story lines within this game. Starcraft 2 has two expansions or technically 3 but 1st one was the game launch, Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, and Legacy of the Void. You could probably watch the cinematics from the game em in order and follow the storyline decently well. Either way, it was awesome to watch your reaction to it.
The story I was told of StarCraft's development was that Blizzard set out to make a 40K game with the Imperium, Eldar and Tyrannids but decided to make it its own thing. I can't speak to the truth of it, but the inspirations seem self-evident, much like the inspirations for 40K itself. En taro Tassadar brave sons of Aiur.
We were told from other comments similar. Basically that it was going to be a collaboration with games workshop but that they pulled their IP at last minute so Blizzard had to rename everything 🙃
Yeah, its a good sci-fi. Even if I just played with the first game I tried to follow what kind of happening led to the second part. There are 3 spieces (humans, zergs and proton) in the game. In the first part there was a girl Carrigan, who was left behind to the zerg invasion and became captive. The zergs made her into the zerg queen who wanted revenge because of her betraying. Something like that, but of course there are a lot of other story elements you should found from the 2 parts. Sorry I played with it ages ago (around mid 90's).
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames here is the moment of betrayal in a trailer: ruclips.net/video/MIefCK7JYPE/видео.html Sorry, the second party of the vid a comparison about the impoving of the quality of the original trailer.
The scene where the protoss realized he was the only one left but prepared himself to defend the objective anyway is just badass. You still have lots of Blizzard cinematics left to react :D will be waiting for more.
The protoss trailer is my favorite as they work in units, powers, and lines from gameplay. So if you played the game its very iconic. It almost made me cry as the protoss valiantly fight and die to buy time. And when the pylon finishes and reinforcements come in that last standing protoss charged oneard. I cheered and roared out of my seat. To warp units in the protoss need the one structure. It takes time to build. So a small force landed and fight to the death to buy time. The protoss share a telepathic link. They share memories, emotions, and minds of all their people of their lifetimes. Their phsyionic powers and advanced tech make them very powerful. The protoss that charges into the ball like zerg dies after his shiield goes down and he collapses. The floating protoss where getting overrun and as a last stand fuse together to make a super form. Doing this kills them. When the archon is on its last leg it self destructs. And you have one last protoss standing against impossible odds.
The woman with the cool eyes is Sarah Kerrigan, a human and a Ghost unit of the Hero type in the game, before becoming what you saw there. Heros are playable key units which is part of the games storyline. Ghosts are in short special forces for covert operations. They are essensially snipers with cloaking abilities and some psionic powers, and Kerrigan was one of the best and made a name of her self. She did some dirty work for her commanding officer which she began to question, and thus he left her to die on a planet overrun by Zerg (the monsters). He was the one luring the Zerg there by a device used to draw them to the planet, using them as a weapon. You can see the betrail on YT video StarCraft 2 The Betrayal on Kerrigan Cinematic 8K 48 FPS (Remastered with Neural Network AI), the last part of the video being a comparion between new and enhanced version. But she was not killed, and the swarm Overmind decided to merge her DNA with Zerg and create a hybrid super weapon, The Queen of the Blades. A leader of the Zerg hordes. But the new Kerrigan soon had plans of her own....
So to answer the question about showering/defacating in the terran power armour. First they don't use water for showers they essentially use compressed air to blast dirt off the body, because water is a super valuble commodity, as for bathrooming, the suits have a built in waste disposal system, it takes care of that for you, he is not a stock character, his name is Tychus Findlay and he is a prominent character in wings of liberty onto heart of the swarm: Kerrigan was a Terran (human) special operative who was betrayed by the emperor of humanity, she was infested by the zerg (bug people) and now she leads them to get revenge against the man who threw her to the wolves. as for Legacy of the Void, your analysis is spot on, the only thing I can say is that no the 2 templar fusing was not captain planet, they were becoming an archon to buy as much time as possible for the pylon to warp in, so they could reinforce the position. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. I would be happy to answer them.
Hey thanks so much for answering our questions! Others have kind of talked about the showering/bathroom thing but feel like yours was most comprehensive ☺️
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames no problem! I am happy to share knowledge when it is asked for. If you are interested in the lore I suggest reading the first starcraft book Liberty's Crusade. It is a fantastic read that follows the Terran campaign from the original game. With a bit of a spin on it with the perspective.
Trailer 1: Zerg (insect-like aliens) are starting to come back from "hibernation" and humans (low on resources) take their prisoners, put them in battle suits and send them to the frontline. How do they poop, shower, etc. in that suit? - you ask. Their life expectancy is under a few days after they are sent to war. Trailer 2: She was betrayed when she was human, got abandoned, infested... now she seeks vengeance by taking control of the Zerg and searching for the chain of command that left her for dead. Trailer 3: They do have an electrical cord instead of hair and they are telepathically connected through it. Some (like the ones the levitate in the trailer) also have telekinesis and can make electricity-like energy out of thin air. The ones with the swords are zealots (frontline soldiers). Some of these guys cut their cord in sign of protest and become traitors and outcasts. Their home planet is infested by Zerg and now they plan on taking it back (as seen in the trailer, they start recapturing it) The shield around them is a plasma shield (like the guy that got "slimed" had), it protects from high amount of damage, but once that shield is out, they have somewhat fragile bodies. The two guys levitating are templar, highly trained in using psionic powers. When they unite, they basically sacrifice themselves to merge and become an Archon for an instant boost of temporary power (in case of emergency, like a self-destruct button, best used for last-case scenarios); eventually being overwhelmed by the power, they caused an implosion. The little robot is a probe, it makes a small wormhole that later creates a Pylon (that crystal-looking object). The Pylon functions as a beacon, allowing the mothership to warp in more units to the location.
you guys should watch the ingame scenes along with the dialogs also. you will love the story and you will understand so much more. i think its around 1 hour per expansion but its worth it ,trust me
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames hey tnks for the heart. :) another usefull tip : in game there is a intro recap from the previous game ,starcraft 1 , if the video you are watching donst put it at the start make sure to watch that 1 first. its a fast recap and you may not understand much, but it helps a lot to get you started on the story of the SF 2. if you must watch it more than 1 time off cam. im looking forward for that video. you guys gonna love the story. back when blizzard was actually makeing good storys.
Wow I am glad you actually decided to go through Starcraft II. If you ever have the time to watch the "full Movies" they are so well made and the entire story is amazing. Probably my favorite Blizzard story
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Well you don't even have to understand the game, the story is very well made. Honestly I would even suggest you getting the game, turning on cheats and just going trough it just for the story itself. But for content's sake watching the "full movies" is worth. They are pretty long (2-3 hours) but I've seen other reaction channels just do 30 min videos per week and it is absolutely fine.
Queen of Blades, the purple lady, was originally a psychic special ops human. At a certain point in the game she was left for dead during a fight with the Zerg (*bug aliens). They captured her an assimilated her because that what the zerg do: infest other lifeforms. She became human again in Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty but had lingering traces, her hair for example.
You are correct about the Warhammer connection. This game was meant to be a Warhammer game. The copyrights from Games Workshop never were granted. But they had a game so they just changed the names and looks of things. That's where StarCraft came from.
Sara Kerrigan was a human with psychic abilities, the military she was a part of gave her a suicide mission and then abandoned her. The zerg swarm took her and assimilated her into the swarm, and because of her psychic abilities she was able to fight the hive mind's influence, she then went on her own quest and took over the swarm. The reason she looks human at the end of the trailer is because one of her old comrads/love interest. Managed to "save her" during the first act of the game. As for the psychic alien guys, those are the protoss, they are able psychicly linked to one another because of the nerves that come from the back of their head, that link becomes a major part of the plot of the 3rd act legacy of the void
there are the humans (guys in blue armor with faceshields, etc), the Zerg (the big aliens attacking everything), and the Protoss (the guys in Legacy of the Void).
Also as for the short version of the story, basically there is a 3 way space war between the Zerg (hive mind bug-like aliens that wanna infest all planets) Protoss (advanced telepathic aliens that want to purge all Zerg infested planet regardless if they are other races on the same planet still living) and the Terran (human who didn't really like the idea of being infested or purged). These are events from Stacraft I. Starcarft II continues with the aftermath where the Terran empire survived but has a new dictatorship regime. The Protos lost their home planet to the Zerg and the Zerg lost their Hivemind but a new one (more sexy looking) took over.
First Video: Talks about war in the background. Reaction: This seems really cool. Second Video: Shows what humanity is fighting against in that war. Reaction: Kill it with fire!
When the Wings of Liberty trailer came out it went over my head like sarcasm and Drax. It wasn't until I'd played the whole game that it clicked. Now every time I watch it it gets more epic.
Dunno if anyone already said that, but the „network“ is the Khaala, a connection between all Protoss that have their nerve cords (the hair). The Protoss can feel each other within the Khaala, the Khaala shares all emotions and knowledge between all the Protoss. The 2 guys that merged (High Templar) have extended control over the Khaala, being able to use Psionic powers. The Girl is Sarah Kerrigan, she started as a human in a rebellion, being abandoned to the Zerg (swarm) and infested. The zerg found about her ridiculous Psionic powers and instead of killing her they decided to use it. She was relieved from the zerg by her boyfriend Jim Raynor at the end of SC2 wings of Liberty. She retook control over the swarm in heart of the swarm, killing the one that abandoned her. Lastly, in SC1 the Protoss home world of Aiur was lost to the zerg and their past leader, the Overmind. The 3rd trailer shows the beginning of the invasion against the now feral zerg on Aiur by the unified Protoss in their attempt to finally retake Aiur. I was pretty vague in this, probably made some mistakes, feel free to correct me
We have had great support from community with info on these trailers and appreciate you contributing to that! Honestly it’s a lot to take in so we have to get constant reminders and different people say it in a different way and point out different things so it helps piece it all together but ultimately we just have to watch all the in game scenes 😃
Protoss can telepathically able to speak to all, they use the energy of their bonds between their own species to form their psi blades. The cords are what connects their minds together. The story is very deep and actually has quite a lot of lore. Zero are a bio form that evolves rapidly, their sole aim is to spread and conquer. Terran marine suits are environmentally sealed and have filters for certain things. Sorry for so many comments XD
Don’t apologize! We love learning from fans of the franchise and we plan to check out the full in game Cinematics now because this story seems so deep and complex 🤩
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames it's very deep and very exciting, it is different the WH40k with the story and combat for the most part. Worth checking out, I'd also suggest playing it. Tons of custom maps that your wife and you can play online against other or just against each other.
Their black braided hair is a nerve cord that connects them to the Khala or the divine energy field that empowers them. It allows them to be connected together telepathically. The freaky purple chick is known as Sarah Kerrigan. You'd have to watch the playthrough of the first Starcraft game to see how she becomes the Queen of Blades. The convict being put in the suit is known as Tychus Findlay. You interact with him alot during the "Wings of Liberty" campaign.
To set the scene of the Starcraft universe a little bit. Basically a prison space ship from earth got lost and stranded up in the Koprulu sector (roughly year 2300). The survivors manage to build up a new human society and fairly quickly realize that the sector is already inhabitant by two alien species who are ferociously fighting each other. So you have got the Zerg, a hive mind of insect like creatures who are highly adaptable and who's only perose it seems to be to destroy and assimilate everything in their path. Specifically the Protoss, a highly advanced society with great psionic abilitis (kinda like telepathy) who are all united in their mind by the Khala. They are defending themselves against the zerg invasion and are in turn trying to eliminate the zerg threat. (with mixed results). And now you have the humans (referred to as Terran) showing up, trying to figure out wtf is going on. They quickly figure out that zerg are no fun. The Protoss mostly ignore the Terrans unless they get attacked by them or Terrans are in the way of eradicating the zerg, for instance by living on a planet with zerg infection. In that case the Protoss have little regard for Terran civilian casualties. In turn humans are understandably afraid of the Protoss so its a difficult relationship but mostly they can agree on fighting the zerg. And then in the Starcraft games you have this crazy story essentially revolving around Sarah Kerrigan (the purple lady) . Other comments have already summarized parts of it. There is no really good way for you two to learn the entire story because it takes place a lot in actual gameplay. But there are still some really cool cinematics that are definetly worth watching. Most notably I can recommend in order Zeratul vs Kerrigan Betrayal of Kerrigan (its a flashback) wings of liberty ending (Kerrigan gets saved) Starcraft 2 - Heart of the Swarm - ALL CINEMATICS (by hight555) Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void ► ALL IN-GAME CINEMATICS [HD] (by xLetalis) These still have some story gaps in between but not nearly as big as just the 3 trailers. You should be able to follow along the story at least a little bit. And its really sick visuals - Blizzard style :) Keep in mind that Starcraft 2 is essentially only half the story but the first Starcraft started in 1998 so naturally the cinematics from that time dont have the best quality.
To explain all the videos, since they're drawing from stuff you already would know from the previous games: Wings of Liberty: This game focus on James Raynor and his quest to get his revenge on Mengsk. The guy you see in the intro is Tychus Findlay. With a drawl. Because it's Starcraft. It wouldn't be right otherwise. No yanks allowed. Anyway, typically marines, the standard infantry unit fielded by human forces are prisoners who have been found guilty of something terrible. They're given obedience drugs to make sure they're doing exactly what they're told. It's been said that in recent times this is less common and there are more voluntary troops, and that for the soldiers wearing the marauder suit, only 36% have been found guilty of felony murder. (Starcraft is *not* a happy universe. It is NOT like Star Trek. Also the numbers are likely slightly off.) Tychus is one of these prisoners being set free. The man narrating is Arthur Mengsk, the emperor of the Dominion, the largest Terran polity in the game. He's responsible for burning down many human worlds, killing billions. He betrayed Kerrigan to the Zerg, leading her to become the queen of blades, and basically shived people until he became emperor. "I will rule this sector or see it burned down to ashes around me!" as he famously said. Tychus is with you throughout the game, and so you know that he's going to backstab you. Just not when. It's well written, and shows Raynor's rise from a burnt out rebel with an impossible task (I know, southerners rebelling against the government has never been done before), into an inspiring leader who will set humanity free. Heart of the Swarm: This game focuses on Sarah Kerrighan. After the first game, you managed to dezerg her and turn her back into a human. She can finally hang out with her boyfriend, Raynor again. (Matt Horner, the 2IC is not jealous, he has Mira Han after all...) However, Mengsk finds out that they're both in Umojan space (Umoja is another smaller human polity), and attacks. She loses James and decides that Mengsk is going the fuck down. So she has to take up her mantle as leader of the Zerg again as only as the queen of blades will she have the power necessary to stab mengsk to permanent death. The theme of the game is not just her gaining power, but also surrendering her humanity to achieve it. It's pretty well written actually. It focuses both on Kerrighan as a person, the Zerg as a species, and her struggle for both revenge, and her relationships with humans, humanity and the zerg. Legacy of the Void: After Sc1, the protoss, the aliens you see fighting the zerg, lost their home planet. Which was their religious and cultural centre. They didn't like that at all to put it mildly. So now they're taking it back. But in a twist only ever seen in a World of Warcraft expansion, big bad evil demon come to eat their souls. It's... really the weakest game in the series when it comes to writing, but it has some absolute gold in it. Mechanically it's great. Storywise not so much. The soldiers with the shiny psychic blades are called zealots. They're really angry and you can upgrade them to run really fast into people so that they can stab their enemies in the face faster. The other guys were high templar that can do magic death storms and sacrifice their souls to create a new archon, which is pretty bad ass. It's not terrible, but Starcraft's last entry deserved better.
Thanks for breaking these down a bit more for us. We are finding out we definitely need to watch the in game movies that are out there in RUclips even if graphically they aren’t as good as these Cinematics were 🤩
It's funny that you mention Warhammer 40k. The original Starcraft was intended to be a Warhammer 40k RTS game, but they ended up going in a different direction with a different story (that is why the marines look like Warhammer marines, the Protoss look like Eldar/Tau, and the Zerg look like Tyranids).
its actually both their hair and a cord for telekenises. there is an offshoot of their race that left them by cutting off the cord so they are no longer linked with the "kala"
I'd highly recommend the Ghosts of the Past trailer for Wings of Liberty. I've been a fan of StarCraft since I was a kid, and I literally cried when I first saw that trailer.
The Khala is basically a psionic philosophy that maintained a communal psionic link between all Protoss that want it, some have denied it , Nerazim most because they want to only have their own thoughts not everyone's and the Tal'darim another faction the doesnt use the Khala and desire power. The hair they have is basically nerve cords that link them to the Khala. Protoss is a fun race with lots of factions each wanting and doing different stuff.
The Protoss (from the third trailer) are all telepathic. They don't have mouths and only talk using their minds, even to members of other species. They can even learn to read the thoughts of humans from varying distances. But with each other they have a special bond that makes it extra easy. With everyone in their vicinity that is like them. So a Protoss hiding from or keeping secrets from another Protoss is not a thing. Or at least not as long as they have that long cord thing growing out of their head. Some Protoss cut it off to deliberately cut themselves off from this network of thought and emotion. The suits take care of poop. It has to because most "recruits" totally poop their pants when they first encounter those Zerg monsters.
wings of liberty was one of the few games i felt like i play a movie xD what u not see now with the trailers is like the HUGE videos in the end of every game and the first one basicly made me tear up ^^
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames my recommendation is watch every single trailer cinematic inside the Wings of Liberty campaign and you will most likely understand the story of kerrigan. There should be plenty of videos on it on youtube but if you want i can record them off my pc and send them over
The "Vengeance" trailer for Heart of the Swarm is one of my favorite game trailers ever. I rarely see trailers that get me pumped to play something as much as that one did.
Lots of great info in the comments here. One cool little detail that hasn't been mentioned yet is in the final trailer at about 9:48 when one of the protoss soldiers 'die' from being hit by one of the suicidal zerg, you can see a flash of light appear over his body. This is actually a component of their armor and the way that protoss try to prevent permanent deaths and they essentially 'teleported' him to a safe location where he may survive and possibly be inserted into a dragoon body. Dragoons are basically their versions of big mech suits and there are many different types. They're pretty much all shaped like crabs, have advanced technology, and have ranged weaponry. So there is a decent chance that many of these guys didn't truly die here and may actually get a second chance to fight again. Although it's implied that they will be forever stuck in their dragoon shells once they're put in, so they can't ever return to their normal self.
Starcraft is a 3-way free-for-all war between humans, slimy aliens and technologically advanced aliens. It is the most immersive, intense and exhilirating game I've ever played. It's like playing speed chess on a metal chair wired to a (small) battery on a timer. By the time you see the cannon rush/tank push/lings in your mineral line (players know what I'm talking about), it's probably too late. Love, love, LOVE this game! -- "He's welded into the suit so he'll likely never shower again." Uhh, the life expectancy of a Terran marine is about 12 seconds after the next fight begins. He won't have to worry about a shower, typically... the exception is that the guy that you saw is Tychus! Our hero (uhh, of sorts). -- "...to fight the, uhh....Aliens? Bugs?" Yes. You nailed it.
The answer for the "Vegeance for what?": shorftes version possible: She used to be an stealth human elite unit, sent to a planet to decoy a beacon to set up a trap to the aliens, but she was left behind as a bait, abandoned to her own fate, surrounded by thousands of Zerg (aliens) and instead of killing her, they made her "evolve", she became a mix between human and alien, and since she had psychokinetic powers from when she was human, she managed to overule the mastermind of the Zerg and became her one and only Queen. The Queen of Blades. So yeah, enough reason to seek vengeance
Not essential but, it's definitely something I never see anyone talking about either. The things on top of the space marine armor (first clip, very end) that look like jet engines are actually exhaust ports. The tiny fusion reactors inside the suits produce WAY more energy than can every actually be used so they just exhaust it upwards. This also kinda simulates gravity allowing space marines to operate in zero G environments without much fuss. Any zerglings jumping onto them from behind are gonna have a BAD time too. Just... crazy how much care and thought went into all the designs. :)
Awesome . . . 10yrs later . . . these trailers are still awesome. There is also the "betrayal of kerrigan cinematic video" if u wanna know the bug lady ( Kerrigan / Queen of Blades) From most fav to least i'd say Trailer 3 to 1. The story of Starcraft is also straight forward and awesome. They could even make a movie of this if they really want to.
This draws some from the first game expansion, but the other major Protoss faction had their own take on the Archon, called the Dark Archon (Aptly colored Red so you don't mix the two up). The Archon traded off the High Templars offensive abilities in favor of pure, direct, damage - Meanwhile, the Dark Archon traded off the Dark Templars stealth and pure damage for subversive abilities. Whats really interesting though is the background on how both factions see their Archons - The Khalai revere and remember the High Templar who sacrifice themselves to form one. Meanwhile, the Dark Archon pretty much scares the shit out of the Nerazim - So much that their creation was outlawed for a thousand years. They don't revere the ones who sacrifice themselves to create a Dark Templar, their names are all but struck from history out of fear. And well, going by some of the unit quotes a Dark Archons existence is pure pain, and that pain can only be kept at bay by feeding off of the lifeforce of other beings. Basically, the Dark Archon is the edgelord version of the Archon. The Dark Archon was added back in with LotV, but it's a campaign only unit now. Still tied to the Nerazim, which comes off odd with how the Protoss were fleshed out. It's more fitting of a unit for the Tal'Darim, who thoroughly embrace the whole red, black, and spiky all over aesthetic.
Hello comrades!First of all, I want to say thank you for continuing to delight us with new videos. You guys are really cool.I would like to recommend you a mini-series on the game: escape from tarkov reid. It was filmed in Russia. And he's very good. That's why I would like to advertise it in the West, too. There are five episodes of 10-15 minutes each. It's about an hour in total. It's all on RUclips. This is not your format I understand.. But I would be very happy if you could see it. Thank you. Good luck and creative success!
So you most definelty need a context... there are 3 races for the 3 trailers 1. Terran- Humans which rely on technoligy hence the suit, flying ships, tanks etc. The Tychos Findley part is tightly related to the game so you need to know the story. 2. Zerg - Bilogical weapons, everthing in their evolution is developed so that they can kill. The Purple lady is also tightly related to the game she is a Terran her name is Sarah Kerrigan and she was captured by the Zerg Race. 3. Protoss - Highly evloved energy race, all their technolgy is energy based. The shileds, the "warp" of the building and the high priests connecting to morph is also energy based.
So the guy in the prison suit has a build in toilet and i thing it washes him too. I once saw a video explaining the space marine suits. so purplechick was once a human who got turned into a human/bug hybrid because of the guy who is talking in the first trailer. How ever she got turned back human again and then got hybrid again (but way stronger than before) to be able to get her revenge on the guy of the first trailer. The Protos (the creatures of the third trailer) are all connected by the kala (this connection thing they explained in the thirs trailer). They are 'connected' to all other Protos in a certain range to them. How ever there are different factions. For example there is a faction called dark templar, who cut theire 'hair' and are not connected the kala anymore. I could explain this further but we would get pretty deep into the lore and I think everybody who got interested through my commend will happyly search on youtube for starcraft lore videos
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames in the actual game, the units that wear those suits (aka marines) actually has a voice line "how do you take a leak in this chicken sh*beep* outfit" hahaha
First trailer was the Terran's - basically advanced humans. 2nd was basically advanced bug aliens - with a twist from SC1 where the queen was a human that was betrayed (the Queen of Blades). In the trailer - she had become human again (from the events of Wings of Liberty) and was being studied most of the trailer was a dream. She ends up having to go back and be queen again but with a different angle. Third trailer is the advanced technological aliens. Spoiler Alert that "cord" the Khala was actually a weakness that let them be controlled. They had to cut it to regain their freedom.
We plan on checking out these cinematic eventually as the trailers don’t show nearly enough 🤩 which, they are trailers so we didn’t expect them to tell whole story 🙃
Legacy of the Void gives me chills every time..... Blizzard cinematics are just pure art
😎🤟🤩
Same... most epic trailer ever seen
I have watched that trailer a 100 times and not once, not even once... chills EVERY time!
Cinematics good, what happens in the office NOT good
I will always have a soft heart for the protoss
So, in the last trailer, that big thing that those 2 guys fused into is called an "Archon". It's typically a last resort as it sacrifices the valuable lives of those who form it, for a short term effect. They're like a dying star going supernova, burst of power that will burn out. Also, as you can see, they have enough power to essentially turn themselves into a mini-black hole.
Yeah that was super intense. Thanks for explaining it a bit more to us 😃
And I feel that the Avenger's Endgame Portal scene could be inspired by the LOTV Trailer.
the crazy thing is the stronger the High Templar the stronger the Archon and if the Templars make one vital mistake during the Fuse it will just die on creation or if they can't keep their emotions in check can become "Twisted" and go on a rampage. The lore behind these beings are my fav in the Starcraft universe
Archon can be quite lasting, if i remember correctly there was archon Ulrezaj made by 7 dark Templars,... in novels,...
The third trailer definitely did stick out to us 🤩
Pylon build time takes 90 seconds, ingame and just like in the trailer.
@@Tibirium295 oh lol u rite. in game depends on game speed tho

Kerrigans story definitely is tragic and interesting given by the end of the first Starcraft and its Expansion she was the self proclaimed "Queen Bitch of the Universe" Since she had manipulated previous friends and enemies for her own gain and destroyed a great deal of their forces.(She's a complicated character that's shifted from Hero, to Villain, to Hero again as the story progressed.)
might wana preface that with spoilers.
That being said, I still overall think the series has one of the most enjoyable campaigns in RTS history.
she is woman
The woman is so intelligent and spot on in her analysis of the protoss even though never having played this game. Wow.
She is extremely observant 😃🥰 We watched God of War and even though I played the game she was better at figuring out who was who and what was going on 😂 She correctly identified Persephone and then also wondered if Kratos had gotten his wings from Icarus which I was like, I hadn’t even remembered that
You can tell she pays attention to detail and actually listens to what's been narrated. You go girl!
@@SilvMeMe I don't know why I've noticed this on a lot of couple reaction channels. The woman being more observant and analytical.
@@charlie7mason Oh trust me, my GF is VERY observant =D
Cringe.
Whispers: "She's cool."
"She" referring of course to Sarah Kerrigan, the Queen of Blades.
Oh wow we did not know she was named after Nancy Kerrigan! 😃
never thought to add those two together, even if thats just head cannon thats cool.
@@Caldera01 Neat, did not know!
WTF.... 🤣😂
Yeah we would have to do it in multiple parts but it is definitely something we are interested in doing down the road 😊🤩
Unfortunately, ME is hard to follow if you do not actually play the game, since it has few cinematics per se, unlike Starcraft, which can be followed and understood and there are cinematic compilations for every race campaign out there
i agree! but they should start with the lore and cinematics of the first game to know the back story as well
Or, stay with me here, you could just play the games. LoL. Although, to be fair, the would take a REALLY long time. :)
Also for context, as SC2 builds on the story from the first game and expansion:
The Terrans were initially sent to the Koprulu Sector as colonists formed of the dregs of humanity: convicts and whatnot, who formed the Terran Confederacy, modeled after the old Confederacy from the Civil War.

The prisoner from the first trailer does play a large role in the narrative. There's also some worldbuilding in there since the Terran (humans) recondition their prison inmates to serve as frontline soldiers.
We’re glad it was more than just world building though and that the guy was an actual character 🙂
A little shocked this hasn't happened already. The best game EVER. Glad we get to see you guys react!
Yeah we are going to have to dig deeper as these piqued our interest but we were but lost for most of it so we have to look at some more vids later 🙃
I forgot how cool those trailer's are, i cried a little ngl.

Whoa hadn’t realized there were full on tournaments televised 😯
Damn, watching these trailers again after so many years and playing the games (SC fan here) just makes me remember how f*cking epic they are and the chills I felt the 1st time!
☺️
Wow thanks for giving us all that info! This story really does seem super fascinating 🤩
Thanks for breaking it down for us again, Wolf! 😃🥳🙏

That’s what we are learning. A good little Intro to tease us but we have to dive in deeper 😊

If you're looking for a recap of the events that happened leading up to the start of StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty, there's a Story So Far video that released alongside it:
ruclips.net/video/rtGSos4af2E/видео.html
That might help you catch up a bit. :)
I would recommend watching the entire starcraft cinematics cut together to tell the story or just playing starcraft yourself as the story is fantastic
We will probably watch the Cinematics instead of playing it 😎
Erm. Just skip the prologue, no one likes the prologue.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames You definitely should watch the whole SC2 cinematics at least - they are Epic!
The first story esp Brood War is arguably better than the SC2 story but they dont have epic cutscenes
Space wizards we can get on board with 🤩 Thanks for the info on these. We have much more to explore in Starcraft world 😃
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames you also mentioned a connection to Warhammer 40k and your spot on there Starcraft was originally planed as a Warhammer 40k game in collaboration with Games Workshop but GW was mother hening Blizzard to much over the details and Blizzard backed out and made Starcraft with what was left

Wings of Liberty : Evil Sarah Kerrigan ( Queen of Blades) turned into Zerg by the Overmind since Starcraft1 but also corrupted by the Dark God Amon
Heart of the Swarm: Purified human Sarah Kerrigan that wants revenge on Arcturus Mengsk (the Emperor of the human Dominion) the guy that ditched her to the Zerg in Starcraft1 in the 1st place.

That is a lore video we plan on checking out for some WH40k knowledge 😁

3- Cinematic the one eyed Zelot name Kaldalis he was the first Protos to defend his land called tip of the spear . the rest you know by reading other comments i see a lot of mentioned the last trailer so i won't go in details with that :)
At the end Tycus had to kill Kerrigan to go Free that was the catch or the "Corrupt leader" would have pulled the trigger and blown up Tycus suit , that had bomb in it , so he was walking dead man ether way . Raynor end up killing his friend because he was basically a poppet (Tycus did bad things agenst his will because he had strings by having that armor on)
Tycus isn't a bad guy he just a mercenary for hire. who ever pays the highest
I tried to sum it all up in short.
But yes in the Starcraft universe, most Terran marines are ex-convicts, though the story explains more of why that character specifically is being released. the 'it's about time' is an in joke because it took SO LONG for Starcraft 2 (like..over a decade and a half I think)
but the whole three games (Starcraft, Starcraft Brood War, and Starcraft 2 all three games) is really Kerrigan's (the cool lady who calls herself queen of blades) story.
Thanks for giving us some more info and glad we could give you some nostalgia goosebumps by watching it for first time 😊🥰🥳
"Kinda has a Warhammer 40k feel to it."
funny you should mention...
Haha yeah some people filled us in on the failed collaboration 🙃
i love ur reaction videos hope yall have a wonderful day and thx so much for posting videos it lift my mood up
Our pleasure 🥰🥳
Thanks for the quick breakdown of each trailer 😃
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames no, thank u for the lovely video :D
Finally! I've been asking for this for ages, thank you guys so much for reacting to this. Awesome shit, right=)?
It is but it’s such a complex story that we have to watch the in game movies on RUclips now. The trailers aren’t enough 😃
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames yes it is a developing story since 90's=)
Great reaction. Its hard to explain the full story StarCraft lore here but there are a couple of short videos by Blizzard that summarizes the lore up to the point before the third trailer, Legacy of the Void. They are as follows:
StarCraft 2 Official "The Story So Far". (Summarizes the story from StarCraft 1 up to StarCraft 2 Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm)
StraCraft 2 Reclamation. (History of the Protoss race - the advance alien race from Legacy of the Void)
As for the full story of StarCraft 2, it is best to react to the cinematic compilations of each game - (there are movie compilations of the cinematics for each game) - to understand the scale of the story from the perspective of each race. So technically 3 games which is done for each race each. Wings of Liberty (Terrans), Heart of the Swarm (Zerg) and finally Legacy of the Void (Protoss).
Thanks for the tips on how best to go about tackling this game and lore 😃
When these first came out, I remember being so excited... Grew up on Starcraft and was just so hyped for the new story!
😃🥳🍾🥂
you guys are natural reacting. For lonely person like me you guys are like a movie friends
🥰🤗
I cant get enough of you two during this reaction xD your facial expressions are pure joy xD so confused. Im glad I saw it again hahah. I guess sc2 really is a vast, confusing universe for anyone watching it the first time.
I tear up every time I see legacy trailer
🥲🤗
The BattleCruiser Falling gives me goosebumps every time.
😊
You did a good job of explaining it succinctly 😊
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames here is the moment of betrayal in a trailer: ruclips.net/video/MIefCK7JYPE/видео.html
Sorry, the second party of the vid a comparison about the impoving of the quality of the original trailer.
The scene where the protoss realized he was the only one left but prepared himself to defend the objective anyway is just badass.
You still have lots of Blizzard cinematics left to react :D will be waiting for more.
That was a bad ass move for sure and we dig the blizzard Cinematics 😎
My life for auir. They go down to the planet to buy time and know most will not survive.
Pure badass.
A lot have shared same sentiment at the sacrifice of the Protoss 🥲
Thanks for the info on Kerrigan! We do plan to check out the Starcraft cinematic and cutscenes to get full story eventually 😃
blizzard really knows how to hype things with amazing trailers/opening cinematics
Yup 💯
So to answer the question about showering/defacating in the terran power armour. First they don't use water for showers they essentially use compressed air to blast dirt off the body, because water is a super valuble commodity, as for bathrooming, the suits have a built in waste disposal system, it takes care of that for you, he is not a stock character, his name is Tychus Findlay and he is a prominent character in wings of liberty
onto heart of the swarm: Kerrigan was a Terran (human) special operative who was betrayed by the emperor of humanity, she was infested by the zerg (bug people) and now she leads them to get revenge against the man who threw her to the wolves.
as for Legacy of the Void, your analysis is spot on, the only thing I can say is that no the 2 templar fusing was not captain planet, they were becoming an archon to buy as much time as possible for the pylon to warp in, so they could reinforce the position.
Their home planet is infested by Zerg and now they plan on taking it back (as seen in the trailer, they start recapturing it)
The shield around them is a plasma shield (like the guy that got "slimed" had), it protects from high amount of damage, but once that shield is out, they have somewhat fragile bodies.
Thanks for answering our questions and giving more info on the story within 😃
you guys should watch the ingame scenes along with the dialogs also. you will love the story and you will understand so much more. i think its around 1 hour per expansion but its worth it ,trust me
Yup. That’s the plan now 😃🥳
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames hey tnks for the heart. :) another usefull tip : in game there is a intro recap from the previous game ,starcraft 1 , if the video you are watching donst put it at the start make sure to watch that 1 first. its a fast recap and you may not understand much, but it helps a lot to get you started on the story of the SF 2. if you must watch it more than 1 time off cam. im looking forward for that video. you guys gonna love the story. back when blizzard was actually makeing good storys.
you guys need to react to the movie for each stacraft dlc , that's can be long but you can split in part . please i need this =)
😂 well if you need it then we have to do it 😉🤗
The Betrayal of Kerrigan trailer will explain why she wants vengeance. Awesome trailer
Yeah we have to check that one out 😃
Wow I am glad you actually decided to go through Starcraft II. If you ever have the time to watch the "full Movies" they are so well made and the entire story is amazing. Probably my favorite Blizzard story
Yeah we are learning we have to watch those to really understand this game 🤩
Queen of Blades is just one of the coolest nicknames ever 🤩
Legacy of the void is by far one of the best cinematic trailers I have seen to this day!
You are correct about the Warhammer connection. This game was meant to be a Warhammer game. The copyrights from Games Workshop never were granted. But they had a game so they just changed the names and looks of things. That's where StarCraft came from.
😎👍
Damn didnt expect a SC reaction, those cinematics are awesome
🤩🥳😎🤟
that little Probe in third one getting the pylon down for the reinforcements warp in
'yay did it! '
Cool move even if we didn’t totally understand what was going on. We have to a deeper dive into this 🙂
"You're the star in my starcraft"
Aww... You guy can do compliments well. I guess... XD
Lmao, any opportunity to be cheesy we grab 😂🤗🥰
Man... Just the nastiest thought that has ever been pushed into my head. Oh you guys...
😂🤗
oh man, first time seeing your channel. the moment you made that Warhammer 40K reference you earned my sub
Welcome! 🥳🥳 We’ve been checking out some Warhammer stuff lately. Just watched Astartes and a Luetin09 lore vid 🙃
Can’t wait to do a deeper dive into this story. Especially Kerrigan 😍
there are the humans (guys in blue armor with faceshields, etc), the Zerg (the big aliens attacking everything), and the Protoss (the guys in Legacy of the Void).
Thanks! 😃
Thanks for the quick synopsis! We have to get more info this story 🙂
First Video: Talks about war in the background.
Reaction: This seems really cool.
Second Video: Shows what humanity is fighting against in that war.
Reaction: Kill it with fire!
😂🤗
When the Wings of Liberty trailer came out it went over my head like sarcasm and Drax. It wasn't until I'd played the whole game that it clicked. Now every time I watch it it gets more epic.
That third trailer makes me want this game... I wanna play it right now.
😎🤟
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames since it’s blizzard it’s just like watching a Movie. Definitely recommend doing that
Protoss can telepathically able to speak to all, they use the energy of their bonds between their own species to form their psi blades.
Thanks for giving us a little more info on these characters 😃
Most notably I can recommend in order
Zeratul vs Kerrigan
Betrayal of Kerrigan (its a flashback)
wings of liberty ending (Kerrigan gets saved)
Starcraft 2 - Heart of the Swarm - ALL CINEMATICS (by hight555)
Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void ► ALL IN-GAME CINEMATICS [HD] (by xLetalis)
These still have some story gaps in between but not nearly as big as just the 3 trailers. You should be able to follow along the story at least a little bit. And its really sick visuals - Blizzard style :)
Keep in mind that Starcraft 2 is essentially only half the story but the first Starcraft started in 1998 so naturally the cinematics from that time dont have the best quality.
Thanks for sharing the info. Especially the detailed notes about the vids to watch. Seems like a deep dive of Starcraft is inevitable 🙂
To explain all the videos, since they're drawing from stuff you already would know from the previous games:
Wings of Liberty: This game focus on James Raynor and his quest to get his revenge on Mengsk.
😎👍
its actually both their hair and a cord for telekenises. there is an offshoot of their race that left them by cutting off the cord so they are no longer linked with the "kala"
😎🤟
It's incredible how she deducted that the cord was their way of communication and connection to the kallah
🤗😊🙃
I'd highly recommend the Ghosts of the Past trailer for Wings of Liberty. I've been a fan of StarCraft since I was a kid, and I literally cried when I first saw that trailer.
Yeah we have to see so much more for Starcraft. There is such a sense story here that we really need to do a deep dive 😃
Thanks for helping us understand it more 😃
The Protoss (from the third trailer) are all telepathic.
😂 thank you for adding that last bit of info 😂🤗
finally tnxx for the reaction

wings of liberty was one of the few games i felt like i play a movie xD what u not see now with the trailers is like the HUGE videos in the end of every game and the first one basicly made me tear up ^^

Yeah we need to now watch the in game stuff because Queen of Blades looks amazing and we want her full story 😃
😎🤟
Nice little detail in there 🤩 Thanks for clueing us in 😃
Gave me the same chill everytime i watched the trailer
☺️
😎🤟 Can’t wait to check out more Starcraft stuff 😃

She used to be an stealth human elite unit, sent to a planet to decoy a beacon to set up a trap to the aliens, but she was left behind as a bait, abandoned to her own fate, surrounded by thousands of Zerg (aliens) and instead of killing her, they made her "evolve", she became a mix between human and alien, and since she had psychokinetic powers from when she was human, she managed to overule the mastermind of the Zerg and became her one and only Queen. The Queen of Blades. So yeah, enough reason to seek vengeance
Valid reasons for sure 😯
Not essential but, it's definitely something I never see anyone talking about either. The things on top of the space marine armor (first clip, very end) that look like jet engines are actually exhaust ports. The tiny fusion reactors inside the suits produce WAY more energy than can every actually be used so they just exhaust it upwards. This also kinda simulates gravity allowing space marines to operate in zero G environments without much fuss. Any zerglings jumping onto them from behind are gonna have a BAD time too. Just... crazy how much care and thought went into all the designs. :)
Wow yeah no one had brought that up before. Great attention to detail and good spot on your part 😃😎
Awesome . . . 10yrs later . . . these trailers are still awesome.
There is also the "betrayal of kerrigan cinematic video" if u wanna know the bug lady ( Kerrigan / Queen of Blades)
From most fav to least i'd say Trailer 3 to 1.
The story of Starcraft is also straight forward and awesome. They could even make a movie of this if they really want to.
Surprised they haven’t made a movie of this. Especially since Kerrigan seems like such a fascinating and layered character 🤩
Fuck I cant begin to explain the emotion I have when watching the LOTV trailer it is easily my most favorite piece of cinematography ever.
☺️
Thanks for the info on Archons 😃
Hello comrades!First of all, I want to say thank you for continuing to delight us with new videos. You guys are really cool.I would like to recommend you a mini-series on the game: escape from tarkov reid. It was filmed in Russia. And he's very good. That's why I would like to advertise it in the West, too.
There are five episodes of 10-15 minutes each. It's about an hour in total. It's all on RUclips. This is not your format I understand.. But I would be very happy if you could see it. Thank you. Good luck and creative success!
We have it in our list Escape from Tarkov 😁
Thanks for the context 😃 So much going on here that we need to watch the in game stuff now because seems like a fascinating story 🤩
Yes! Thank you so much for clarifying the hygiene for us and exposing more of the lore. This is a game we have to watch the in game stuff for 😊
The first time I saw the WoL trailer, I and the rest of the community were glad that the wait was over.
Tbh, "How are they going to shower or poop" was exactly my first thought too when I watched this trailer when it came out.
😂 great minds 🙃
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames in the actual game, the units that wear those suits (aka marines) actually has a voice line "how do you take a leak in this chicken sh*beep* outfit" hahaha
im subscribing purely because you 2 are the cutest couple....
also amazing reaction 😂
😂🥰😊🥳🤗 Thanks! And Welcome! 🍾🍻🥂
Legacy of the Void gave me chills. Never played a Starcraft game..but the trailers look amazing.
Yeah we plan on checking out the in game scenes to get the story because it looks fascinating 🤩
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Oh..you should check out Total War: Warhammer 1/2 trailers. They are amazing. (Fantasy side of Warhammer 40k)
Wings of Liberty's campaign is the story that's leads to The Swarm which then leads to The Legacy of the void.
😎👍
