My SLK has just started with same issue. My problem started a few weeks back when water got into my alarm siren just under the bonnet grill next to the battery. Think that’s my problem so I’ll start there but this video is very helpful. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing. The previous mechanic tapped in the wiring thous overloading the rated capacity of the fuse thats why it kept on blowing. It's always a good thing to make a separate circuit, then tap in the factory wiring when you want to install after market items. Thank you for the diagnosis, keep up the good works.

    • @LMAutoRepairs

Possibly... but seemed like the issue was that the little unit tapped into the wire got faulty...
Surely that wouldn't have been left like that from day one on installation...

In my case I just had to unplug the fuse 8(which was not burned) and to replug it. I think currusion was the main problem and by reconnecting the fuse, it got contact again. Problem solved. Thnx for the video!

LM Auto Repairs Hmmm... it worked 10 times. Now after i returned to the car after 15 minutes, it refuses to work. Maybe the receiver is faulty? The keys have been repaired today and they said that there must be something faulty on the car... maybe receiver. But why does it work sometimes, and sometimes not? The fuse is still OK.

You put in a 20 or 25 amp fuse. I suspect my case of moisture shorting behind the PCB or maybe even some insects. Will send to a shop to have a look. Not willing to risk myself screwing up even more if I put my hands it. 😂😂😂😂. I will save this link.

When you put in larger fuses, you really make the internals of your electronics your fuse. I would never advice anyone to do what was demonstrated in this video.

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  4 года назад +3

Not quite.... if the issue is not on the electronics.... will not make a difference...
The fault will reveal it self before doing any harm to the modules...
Feed a module with a 10 amp fuse, or with a 100 amp fuse makes no difference during normal operations...
I am not going to be here explaining when you can use this method or why... Mr. Google has plenty or info...
If you know what you are doing, you know when and how you can use this method to find faults...

@@LMAutoRepairs Look, it's great that you got this repair done with your ingenuity. But when a fuse burns, that tells me that there is too much current going thought the circuit, maybe from a short to ground or other damage to the circuit. I personally would connect my mercedes code reader and start with reading out the codes, very likely it is going to hint directly at the circuit that is shorted and you can look it up in Mercedes WIS. Then continue with a multimeter. When you bridge the fuse or connect a non matching fuse (100 instead of 10), the current and heat that popped the fuse will move through the circuit and burn out the weakest component, what ever that might be. Now you say, just do this for 1 second. What kind of advice is this?? I just watched a different video of a guy do this and he burned out some connector pins inside of his ESP module. Not very smart to apply high heat and current to the internals of your $1000 mercedes electronic modules, is it? Saying, it's fine for 1 or 2 seconds, that's bad advice. I understand it worked for you, might work for somebody else, you did a good job explaining your video, but in the end, I would never do this myself or advice somebody to use the wrong fuses in their fusebox.

I have a Mercedes CL203 Sport Coupé. Last winter, I had a problem where the central locking system wasn’t working properly. I heard it could be related to a sensor in the lock, and afterward, everything was fine again until summer. However, I had my rear window tinted, and after that, the central locking system stopped working via remote, and my radio also stopped working. The central locking only works through the door with infrared, and the radio only works with an FM transmitter. I don’t understand what the problem is. Can someone please help me? I’m really at my wit’s end. Could it be that the antenna amplifier was damaged by water during the window tinting? Or could it be something else?

Tracker went dead long before my client bought the car,he didn't even know that he had it in there and the central locking fuse kept popping. I suppose it's the easiest always hot wire in the boot.

To be fair, they are all very similar...
If you spend a bit more, you can get one capable of more frequencies and other stuff...
      All depends on your budget...

      NO...
Something is obviously loading the circuit making the 7.5 amps blowing... probably a short circuit somewhere...

Hi, that box is a genuine tracker the police lock on to if stolen.
I would guess that the grey battery had died as they do and causing a short or drawing power to charge up. They normally service them every few years and change the battery.
I used to fit the other side of trackers in to police cars.
Hope that clears things up a bit
