Two of the greatest music geniuses - Rossini and Paganini - have produced a music so astonishing it almost seems like it can’t possibly exist. “Mose” is one of the greatest operas ever written (and one of the most underperformed). Paganini - always the one to push the technique of string instruments to unparalleled virtuosity- was not satisfied with just writing a theme on the opera. He composed it to be played on ONE STRING!! This piece is almost never performed. Kudos to Yo-Yo Ma for introducing it. This really is one of the most stunning compositions for a string instrument.
