- You guys have been telling me to try Bill's Taco House for quite some time now so today I decided to pull up and I was very disappointed.....the tacos weren't terrible but definitely not worth a second try.
In a city where chili cheese fries rain supreme...these were definitely not up to par. Either way still check them out and make a decision for yourself. This place has a lot of history so it's really cool to check out historical landmarks like this.

The level of engagement by the staff told me the food wasn't going to be good at all. The energy behind making good food is essential. The spirit of the place looked as if their good days had passed on 😢.

A lackluster Hispanic cook working at a empty black owned taco spot on MLK Blvd. should've been a red flag. The customer that have been going there since he was a little and think that the red sauce is "gravy" is a red flag.

Yes ... Bill's Taco House is built on nostalgia. If you grew up in the hood back in the 70' ... this was the joint. I grew up on Bill's Taco ... my parents would take me there after church. Obviously, compared to street tacos and what you have access to in the LA food scene today
... Bill's Taco does not compare. From a nostalgic standpoint ... remembering time spent with my dad ... rolling through on a Sunday afternoon. I always get 3 crunchy taco's and a large strawberry soda. I often wondered if anyone would recommend this spot. Oh well win some and lose some.

I grew up across the street from Crenshaw Plaza next to the MoMo I tried bill's taco for the first time in high school, First and last time I ever ate there lol and I'm born and raised.......there used to be a Burger spot on 59th St and Crenshaw that got burnt down during the riots..I frequented alot cause of the arcades.

Yeah he was wild for putting those hamburger patties that were Frozen probably, on everything instead of having ground up meat
Those ground beef patties and the chili gravy is what made him famous. Since it was sold after his passing the food went from a 10+ to maybe a 4 I still make my tacos with the patty. I think he did that so u wouldn't have to worry about the meat falling out just my opinion but it might be the reason
They are not known for their fries but for the very tacos you guys ate. They have been around for many years. I would still go for the tacos and the gravy (that red sauce.) The chili is good. I would only go there for the tacos only.

That food was the BOMB!!! back in the day. I lived down the street from Bill's Taco House....in the 70's. The food WAS good then. I don't know what that was they gave you. Nothing like it used to be! BTW George Lopez, and Barry White lived on Wall street one block over from there. So did some mayor of Los Angeles, all from Wall one block away! Thanks for doing this one!❤❤❤⁰

Fries you gotta ask extra crispy and have them put the cheese before the gravy. And you gotta double up on the gravy on everything. Then you hit it with the house salsa. Also there’s another cook that works there, and he makes food way better. And yes the cook makes a difference.also you only really need to do the gravy fries and the hard tacos.

My mom and dad used to go there when they were dating. The street was called Santa Barbara back then and my grandmother still lived near there. He took us to Bill's many times, couldn't pay me to go there now. Same for Golden Bird Chicken, both fell off over the years.
Go to Taqueria Los Anayas Los Angeles (West Adams area). All of their food is great! They have a good shrimp Diablo pasta and a good watermelon juice. Tacos birria all amazing.
