    Hi Teo. I've been subscribed and watching your content for quite a while now, and I love what you do. I absolutely love these types of videos. You are super inspiring to me. I typically shoot digital and enjoy capturing various subjects, but I'm especially fond of landscapes with man-made objects like houses and electricity poles, etc. Recently, I picked up my first film camera, a Canon AE-1, along with 11 rolls of film, some Portra 400, and some Gold 200. I'm incredibly excited to try it out, but also somewhat nervous in a way, haha. Thank you so much for you and your content, it means a lot to me.

    That sound of the shutter being released makes feel nostalgic... I was a Pentax shooter for over 10 years, mid-early nineties to mid noughties, first MX, then P30, then swapped the P30 for an LX whilst keeping the MX; last adventure I remember at sunrise was in 2003 at Stonehenge in January at minus 15 centigrade, overexposing of 1-2 stops to compensate for the extreme low temperatures.....

    I live in Denver, Colorado right next to the Rocky Mountains and I find myself bored and uninspired by this place that so many people seem to love. I stopped doing photography once I moved here. Europe seems to offer something much grander in terms of photograph opportunities

I've watched a few of your videos in the past but this one made me subscribe. I'd you do more videos like this in the future try to switch up locations and scenery, I find that's what makes other tubers in this category successful.

    Hey Teo, i watched a couple videos now. Very nice and lovely photography. I just wanted to make you aware, that maybe the white background when you show your photos might not be ideal. Many of us, I believe, watch on big screens too. And, that being said, the white background really distracts (just because of its brightness) from the atmosphere you have in many of your photos. Especially when you showcare darker photos. Maybe you can consider this for future videos! Cheers

    • @teocrawford
      @teocrawford  2 года назад

      Ahh thank you for pointing that out! Hmm I see. I actually really like it, because it's so neutral. Maybe darkening it just a bit can help, so that it still appears white, but just isn't as bright? I would really dislike going black or mid-grey honestly, because I think that's just aesthetically unpleasant🤔

I’m also curious what tripod you’re using(I need a nice travel tripod) and didn’t see it in the video description. Nice work, I enjoy your videos👍🏼

    • @teocrawford
      @teocrawford  2 года назад +1

      The white frames are intended to neutralize the surrounding of the photograph and fit the photograph into the 16:9 aspect ratio. I'll try to darken it a bit, so that it doesn't become blinding haha. But I don't want to move too close to grey or even black because I find that aesthetically rather unpleasant🤔

    I really liked your videos when you first start out but I can't help but feel you're out of your depths lately, there's nothing special with your compositions, you're not trying different angles, you don't learn each film stock properly before hastily making a video like this, maybe I'm overly critical. Hope to see more refreshing videos from you.

    • @teocrawford
      @teocrawford  2 года назад

      Really appreciate the honesty Jerome, thanks. Hmm I wonder why. I also don't feel like I'm at "peak performance" or so right now, but I also don't feel like I'm in a rut. I think maybe I've sort of fixed myself to a set of composition-styles that I like a lot and therefore tend to do them again and again, therefore eventually maybe seeming repetitive. However please keep in mind, that this video was not hastily made. I learn a film stock by shooting it and that is precisely what this video is intended to document. These photos are of course in no way portfolio worthy, they're just what I've been trying out lately. Showing not only my best moments, but everything is the whole point of my videos.
      Cheers :)

    • @Suckmine10
      @Suckmine10 2 года назад

      @@teocrawford I applaud you for taking criticism well, I think the problem I see with your recent videos is that I’m not seeing enough variations if you’re really exploring a stock, there’s plenty of ways to shoot a stock, different lighting conditions, overexposing, underexposing, and using different filters. Just a bit of my two cents, if you feel comfortable composition wise then I’m not gonna comment on that.

    • @teocrawford
      @teocrawford  2 года назад

      @@Suckmine10 Hmm ok, I think I see now where we differ. While this is me testing a film stock, I do still try to take photographs that I think I will like. I don't really shoot anything just for the sake of testing out that condition, because it feels a little wasteful to me when I know that I'm not particularly going to enjoy the result. And seeing as I've of found my preferences through the time I've been shooting, I guess I tend to shoot similar things, because the variation for me lies in the detail, whereas you might look at it at a broader level. It's a bit like with music. I could listen to a bunch of heavy metal tracks and would probably think they all sound pretty much the same, which every Metal listener will of course strongly disagree to, because they hear all the nuances that make the song unique. But I don't want to accuse you of viewing these photographs superficially, no way - it's just an idea of how we might be seeing things differently🤔
