- In 1950 mathematician Alan Turing predicted that early in the 21st century we would be communicating with machines that we thought were humans. Sixty eight years later, the chatbots are here, and Turing's prophecy appears to be coming true. They're inundating Twitter with jokes. They're replacing online customer service agents. They're even available as a cheap alternative to a therapist.
And they are also making us rethink cyber and national security. Is voice recognition secure if someone can synthesize your voice? Can democracy withstand bot generated misinformation? What's real and what's not? And maybe a deeper question: Is it possible that something pretending to be a human could make humans more human?
Radiolab co-hosts Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich and critically acclaimed writer Brian Christian present a live exploration of communication in the 21st century.
The event includes experiments, interviews and plenty of audience participation.
This is so wild. Seeing Robert and Jad gesticulate as they present the show adds a whole new layer to the words that they are speaking it's basically new content
Good discourse
I’m a bot :)
This is the stupidest Radiolab I've yet encountered. Ten comments is too many.
