Not true. The diagram showing how the boats are positioned is wrong. Boat owners typically drive their boat into a slip. The diagram shows Miles boat backed in. @@lat1502 Regardless of how the case is decided, both parties split 5000 dollars in cash. If its decided in favor of one plaintiff, then that amount is award from the 5000 and the rest is split. The part that totally gives this away is when the young man being SUED asks, “why is that?” After Judge Judy says “I’m not comfortable entertaining this case”. You’re being sued and you are wondering why the Judge isn’t going to continue the case in which you could be out thousands of dollars? Yeah, something ain’t right here 🤣

My guess is that an unknown someone hit the boat and both the plaintiffs and the defendant conspired to have JJ's show foot the bill. The plaintiff said that he did not know how much his deductible is on his insurance (assuming that he even put collisions insurance on his policy) which means that it has to be fairly large leading them to concoct this plan. Who doesn't know what their deductible is? If it was a low deductible then they would have just put in a claim to the insurance company.
When JJ says she's not comfortable continuing the case and the Defendant asks, "Why is that?" that kinda confirms he and the Plantiffs are in cahoots. Good call by Judy. I think he probably hit the boat, but the plaintiff did such a poor job with their evidence and business records, I couldn't find in their favor. He might have gotten a dismissal if he had been respectful, denied the allegations, and didn't try to smear the plaintiffs. As it stands, they're both left where she found them.
It's pretty clear what actually happened here: The defendant had guilty behavior the entire case. Drinking the water, not making eye contact, constantly wanting to interject during the witness statement, deflecting when the judge asked him questions. He 100% hit the plaintiff's boat. The problem here is A. the plaintiffs did appear to be docked in a vulnerable position and it appeared as if the defendant had evidence that he'd had that discussion with the plaintiffs before and B. the plaintiffs didn't have a cogent story at all. From partner 1 to partner 2 to the employee, they ALL told different stories that didn't align with one another. Which leads me to believe what ACTUALLY happened is that the defendant hit the plaintiff's boat while NO ONE was around to witness it, they concluded it was him because of the prior conversations they'd had regarding their boat being docked in a place where his boat could hit it, he unintentionally admitted guilt by engaging in discussions regarding the damages after they accused him, and then when they realized they were going to have to take him to court, they tried to cobble together enough of a story that they thought would be convincing in court. They should have practiced more. The reason the plaintiffs didn't go to the police when it originally happened was because no one actually witnessed it. And I'd be willing to bet money if the judge had asked them what date they filed their lawsuit against the defendant, it would have been pretty damn close to that date in July after they filed the police report. The ONLY reason they filed the report is because they decided to go to court, they guessed at the date the accident happened because no one actually saw it and probably didn't see it for a handful of days, and then the defendant must have said something like, "I wasn't even at the marina on the 13th" or something along those lines for the plaintiffs to suddenly "remember" it was actually the 16th--a day they KNEW he was there. Install cameras and don't lie in court you bozos. Oh, and maybe don't park your boat somewhere it can be hit.
