      Not true. The diagram showing how the boats are positioned is wrong. Boat owners typically drive their boat into a slip. The diagram shows Miles boat backed in. I know this because I used to own a boat. When Miles backed his boat out of his slip he hit the pontoon boat. Boats do not have rear view mirrors so you can not see what is behind you.

    Four liars step into a courtroom trying to get a show to pay for damages...

    • @lat1502
      @lat1502 8 месяцев назад +16

      I often wondered how that worked. Does the show pay the plaintiff's damages if they lose? If that's the case, I could see how Judge Judy was suspicious about the relationship between the plaintiff and the witness. I could see how she might think that both parties were pretending to sue knowing that if the plaintiff lost, the show would pay for the damages. That would explain why Judge Judy sent them off with no money.

    • @kenbobcorn
      @kenbobcorn 8 месяцев назад +20

      @@lat1502 Regardless of how the case is decided, both parties split 5000 dollars in cash. If its decided in favor of one plaintiff, then that amount is award from the 5000 and the rest is split. So regardless if you win or lose, as long as the case is not decided 5000 in the other parties favor, you leave with cash. When Judge Judy thinks the plaintiffs are scamming the show, she sends them off and doesn't decide their case. They still get the free flights and hotels to come to show however.

Both sides are paid an appearance fee, which is 250 dollars or something like that and the show pays for their tickets, hotel and food. Other than that, the show pays the judgement. There's no 5.000 to be split, if the judge awards any side say 2000 dollars, that what they get and of course the other side gets nothing besides the appearance fee.

The plaintiff said that he did not know how much his deductible is on his insurance (assuming that he even put collisions insurance on his policy) which means that it has to be fairly large leading them to concoct this plan. Who doesn't know what their deductible is? If it was a low deductible then they would have just put in a claim to the insurance company.

    It's pretty clear what actually happened here:
    The defendant had guilty behavior the entire case. Drinking the water, not making eye contact, constantly wanting to interject during the witness statement, deflecting when the judge asked him questions. He 100% hit the plaintiff's boat. The problem here is A. the plaintiffs did appear to be docked in a vulnerable position and it appeared as if the defendant had evidence that he'd had that discussion with the plaintiffs before and B. the plaintiffs didn't have a cogent story at all. From partner 1 to partner 2 to the employee, they ALL told different stories that didn't align with one another.
    Which leads me to believe what ACTUALLY happened is that the defendant hit the plaintiff's boat while NO ONE was around to witness it, they concluded it was him because of the prior conversations they'd had regarding their boat being docked in a place where his boat could hit it, he unintentionally admitted guilt by engaging in discussions regarding the damages after they accused him, and then when they realized they were going to have to take him to court, they tried to cobble together enough of a story that they thought would be convincing in court. They should have practiced more. The reason the plaintiffs didn't go to the police when it originally happened was because no one actually witnessed it. And I'd be willing to bet money if the judge had asked them what date they filed their lawsuit against the defendant, it would have been pretty damn close to that date in July after they filed the police report. The ONLY reason they filed the report is because they decided to go to court, they guessed at the date the accident happened because no one actually saw it and probably didn't see it for a handful of days, and then the defendant must have said something like, "I wasn't even at the marina on the 13th" or something along those lines for the plaintiffs to suddenly "remember" it was actually the 16th--a day they KNEW he was there. Install cameras and don't lie in court you bozos. Oh, and maybe don't park your boat somewhere it can be hit.
    And a little P.S. for the defendant, the plaintiff's employee came to your BBQ to fish for info, bro.

    Lol if, for some reason, I was a defendant and a judge/arbiter said to me "I'm dismissing this case against you," I would say "THANK GOODNESS." The defendant looked genuinely surprised that the case was dismissed because it was likely all a conspiracy and a scam.

    I agree with JJ's decision. The plaintiffs can't get a congruent story among them, despite my belief that the defendant did in fact damage their boat. And the defendant seems to be just flat out lying.

    I never seen such incompetence and stupidity in any of the cases covered on JJ until this case. Both sides couldn’t keep their stories together and it was obvious they both seek money. This should’ve been one part not four parts.

    When the defendant admitted the plaintiffs witness had been over for dinner AFTER the accident, I figured Judge Judy would dismiss the case. Seems like one of those scam cases where both sides agree to a story in order to get money out of the show. They weren't very prepared for their story though.

    I even know someone from college who went on Judge Judy as a witness and they legit made the entire case up just to be on TV.

    How do they not have photos of the other boat's damage? That is the FIRST thing I would do is troll over there and get pictures of the front of the defendant's boat. AND I would also have security cameras if that is an actual boarding dock.
