Thirsting over Jonathan Bailey feels like a part time job now 😆😆😆. Zero complaints.
I was thirsting all over him last season too, even with those terrible sideburns. Ive got it bad hahaha
knowing the actor who plays theo also auditioned for both benedict and colin made me about spit out my tea at your comment about him and eloise looking a little too related 😆
OMG STOP HAHAJAJ STOP!!!!
I cackled when you said “book Anthony would have taken a boot to all of them”😂😂😂😂 so true!
How dare Anthony drink the lemonade that was intended for Kate at the races!!! 🤨😆🤣
I thought the poetry night scene served 2 purposes to the story. First, that Anthony wasn't comfortable with being a phony. He is a rake, not a cad. Especially when in front of his mother and, to his surprise, Kate. Secondly, his declaration that he is "Not a man of poetry" is given the lie when he finds his Muse. With Kate, his heart is filled with poetry.
I don't agree that it feels out of character for Kate to be excited about a horse race. We literally meet her as she is riding a horse. Lol. Horses bring her joy. You can be stoic but still find moments to experience joy and it makes sense that for Kate, that would be horses.
I agree with you about Will's storyline, but I love him so idc. Haha.
And, I, too noticed that the footman is *very* attractive. Haha. I wanted more of him all season. I also agree about everything you said about Benedict. He gave bi-vibes from jump.
Hey y'all, youtube was glitching on my premiere. I changed the settings and hopefully now its working!!
Me over here excited that I'm not the only one who remembered Eloise's footman 😄
Hahahaha i will forever remember that footman!! A little scamming cutie!!
I've heard rumors of a prequel involving Lady Danbury, the Queen and maybe even Lady Violet's backstories. And I am TOTALLY her for it!!
Yes. Mr. Dorset had ONE assignment. SMH🤨
Agree with most of your points! From what I've seen, most of us book readers have similar complaints. I just have to think the show takes place in an alternate universe! It's really hard to care about the romantic subplots of Eloise, Pen and Colin because you know they will end badly or won't be resolved. I too have doubts about Colin's season because he is doing nothing for me! Yes to Eloise's hot footman!
Yeah it definitely didnt help to read the books before the show started. But some how, they managed to make changes work in Season 1 a little better. They changed so so much this season, and i think they went too far
Most being the optimum word 😅I’m a book reader , yet I way preferred the show. The Anthony in the books didn’t really understand consent, the fact that they BOTH had very specific fears felt inauthentic and corny to me, I didn’t like that they were forced into a marriage(doesn’t that seem very like the daphne / Simon situation? So the author is reusing plot lines now 😭) also the Edwina in the books... don’t get me started. She was far too even tempered and boring. Show Edwina had backbone, and the whole wedding scene had me at the edge of my seat
You're my favorite Bridgerton reviewer! I love how you compare the show to the books so we can call get a full picture. I hope you expand your content soon.
I agree with your criticisms of this season. I wish we had more scenes with them bantering and roasting each other. However, I will argue that there are some elements of the book that might not translate well to the screen. The library scene in the book that you mentioned, had some cringe-worthy moments: him kicking her under the desk, making-out with his mistress and then grabbing her and kissing her (gross), locking them in his study, and then throwing the key on the ground for her to pick it up (he apologizes later, but still). I like how in the show Anthony is leaning in almost kissing her, but it is Kate who kisses him first, and when they finally make love, he doesn't proceed until he has her consent.
You're absolutely right hahaha anthony would have come across terrible if they had done a straight adaptation. But it woulda been so nice to have some of the more intimate moments. And not even sex. Just moments where its them just talking and getting to like one another other than just lust. I miss those scenes alot
@@MiattaLebile Totally agree! The library scene that they have in the show was a perfect setup for Kate and Anthony to have a longer and deeper conversation about their past and their fathers....so sad that they cut back to the other storyline :-(
Portia Featherington is a Regency era
City Girl I respect her hustle but you are right about all these extra plot lines . The Queen and Lady D are giving me messy favorite Auntie! So happy your reviews are back
Hahahahah i have decided to call the Featheringtons the Scammeringtons cause between Portia, her dead hubby, Marina, Cousin Jack, and Penelope, nobody is doing it like them!!
@@MiattaLebile Material Gorwls!!!
Yes ma'am they are serving Scams, Scandals and Gaslighting.
I love Kate & Anthony were the best thing about this season for me. I hated that there were a lot of useless subplots
I agree! I wish we got more Kate's back story. Rumor has it that might touch on her story in the next season.
@@kenzolee2957 I hope so
Its truly a shame they barely even hinted at kates backstory!!!!
"Montage of me getting so bored I needed a break"... us throughout the season
I couldn't believe how bored id get. This didnt actually happen season 1, like once. I wish they hadnt had so many extra damn subplots!!
Soooooooo boxer guy Will is there because he’s hot 😍but I totally get your point….I would have preferred more Katony than Featherton and Eloise melodrama
Hahahaha you have made an excellent point. He is hot!!I was absolutely enamored with him last season and he is still hot, but i guess without him interacting with the main plot, it just felt like one too many things going on.
Yes! I enjoy having Will in S1 so I don't mind him in S2.
The alternative word used for dandy is 'fop'. They're often interchangeable in earlier-century novels, etc..
Yess!! I couldn't remember the word fop in the moment!
i wish we got our nerdy scholar subplot for edwina so bad :-( i was looking forward to seeing her struggle between duty and love (dowry) like in the book and then find her match at aubrey hall, so the sisterhood wouldn't be tarnished. i think they just rly wanted to raise the stakes as high as possible for drama and got lazy with resolutions/compensating for all the angst (also i dont love that edwina gets a throwaway line about marrying a rich prince :( thats like the opposite of what she wanted in the book!! my humble non-materialistic queenie...kanthony are my it couple but wina deserved better characterization)
They really did Edwina wrong. She ended up partially betrayed by her sis and then ALONE! She wasn't this young acting/shallow in the books at all! Id love for her happily ever after to happen next season!!! Along with tons of Kanthony scenes
I can't stand those "slow burn" comments. Like this was painful and not in a good way... a slow burn ALWAYS has a good and satisfying payoff. This was not that. We knew they were going to get together and we got a probably 5 minutes of it. Writers please leave the romance writing to the romance authors from now on 😩
*THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE * Yes exactly!!!. I really think the writers don't actually like romance novels and thought they'd elevate the material or something. They clearly didnt trust the material in book 2 at all!
Everyone has a moment of describing what love is. I didn't like that they pushed out the guy who was a better match for Edwina.
I wanted to see Kate and Anthony get together sooner.
Kate and Anthony shoulda been together by episode 4 at the latest!!! So upsetting it didnt happen!!
@@MiattaLebile ABSOLUTELY!!! 💯💯💯 Like don't even go as far as proposing to Edwina, clap them cheeks at Aubrey Hall, and figure out how yall can get married when you get back to London!!
"Clap them cheeks at Aubrey Hall" is one of the best things ive ever read hahahaj
@@MiattaLebile 😂😂😂😂 There were so many times it should have happened or at least a HOT kiss or SUMMMITHINNNN!!! Especially during that thunder storm 🥵
JUST A DAMN KISS. I was screaming KISSS KISS KISSSSSS the whole show. My husband was looking at me crazy hahahah
That footman’s cheekbones could cut you. Like Eloise sweetie look at what’s right in front of you. I love your reactions! I subscribed immediately after watching your first video on season one. I honestly love Anthony even in season one when I didn’t like all of his choices. Jonathan Bailey is fantastic! I hope we see more of Anthony and Kate next season! I’ve loved Benedict from the get go. Maybe it’s because Luke Thompson is so charming. I love Eloise and Penelope even when I don’t like their choices. I do love Colin but I hope we get more from him next season. I adore Lady Violet this season! I loved her last season but love her more in season two. I love hearing your thoughts on the differences between the show and the books. Honestly can’t wait for season three!
Penelope is so toxic. Gonna be hard for her to come back from this.
Im really hoping they can turn it around cause on the show, she is terrible!
I love the character Colin and I love the actor Luke Newton, but when I saw his arrival with that goatee I screeched in horror. I was like seriously no, just no, go shave that off your face straight away ! Every scene he did until he shaved I cringed.
IT WAS AWFUL!! Even Luke hated it hahah there is a video I saw of him roasting his own goatee
"Colin went on a retreat...Run GIRL!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
lmaooo I live for your reactions. I agree with every single opinion you have. Too bad you weren't in that writers room lmao
I found this episode to be particularly slow and wasteful. Barely any Kate and Anthony set up or interaction. Also I think on the show, they didn't give enough of a reason for Kate to hate Anthony. They sanitized Anthony too much. Where is him proudly declaring he will be keeping a mistress?
Funny how you mention Lumley, imo that was a clear dropped plot. I think this script underwent heavy rewrites.
I agree that without Anthony being overly loathsome, you just end up with Kate being kinda bitchy and overreactive, which is how she came across alot at the beginning.
And very interesting, re: heavy rewrites. I wouldn't be surprised. Some stuff felt very disjointed!!!
@@MiattaLebile I got that impression reading a Jonathan Bailey interview where he mentioned last season they received every script at the start. This season they only received the scripts 2 at a time as they filmed. That fit with my feeling of them having changed a lot in the back episodes. Lumley was given far too much set up only to never return among other things.
Also they cut out a moment Kate and Anthony were supposed to share at the horserace. I remember bts pictures showed a closeup of him touching her arm.
Who knows what a re-editing of the season could turn out like
Yes. I dont mind them changing the show so that this season wasn't the same plot as the first, but Anthony's statement in the office is a big deal. Also, Pen and Kate are friends in the book. Some interactions between them would've been good.
Girl me and you sister re watching together
I feel like there is nothing wrong with changes but if you are gonna make such drastic changes you must execute them well.
Like they made Eloise seem dumb and Edwina seem blind or like she wants everyone to like her.
Kate and Anthony should have gotten together at least by episode 5 so that will give us time to see their honeymoon which was long awaited.
They should have brought you into the writers room
Better hire you for season 3 writing for any scene between Kate and Anthony
Right he took her 🍋 lemonade #petty
Yes for Kate to react like that during the race caught me by surprise 😮 but she's super competitive so... I let her be 😆
My favorite footman he is hilarious I feel like the other women have their maids but El has her footman sidekick 😂 😃
Sister blocking on 💯
Lumley looks so good during poetry hour/show & tell swoon
Snail 🐌 burn 😤
El has her sidekick!!! That man has been thru it since season 1!!!
@@MiattaLebile but do you 💭 he's for the guys 👦 🤔
2:47 I AGREE!! HE WAS SO CHARMING
I read an interview with Julia Quinn recently where she was asked about Eloise and Theo, and she said she thought it seemed more like an intellectual awakening for Eloise than a romance but that she has no idea what the show will do. "You know as much as I do," she said. So it seems she made no stipulations about who has to end up with whom. I think someone else from the show had previously said the main romances would end up like the books, and it does seem like they're setting up Eloise and Phillip.
Now the queen thinks her diamond has to be more because of Whistledown (so basically because of Eloise because of Mary Wollstonecraft), but nothing is ever done with this.
It seemed like Edwina wanted to be friends with Penelope and Penelope immediately excused herself and went after Colin, of course.
The goateeeeeeeeee 😩😩😩. Regarding Anthony and Kate, I really missed their relationship, it was disappointing.
I missed it too. Im trying to find the good on my rewatch but truly, so much wasted opportunity for those two
So happy to see this! Kisses from Brazil 😘
I hope by Eloise's season, she's matured so she is less "not like other girls"
Same!!! I dont know how the dynamic between her and Philip will work unless shes a little more mature. I realllly hope we get some time jumps soon
Help from the comments please
So, it's like-every scene that I adore from the show-you say is the show's invention. I was thinking of going ahead and reading the the books series because I AM a very passionate romance novels fan, but, should I??
If everything is different...? honestly it makes the books sound really dull and like every other romance novel😅 I need encouragements!
I loved this season with all my heart I believe it to be far superior to the prior one haha
I actually, although there is always enjoyment in it, find the whole playboy-rake falling for the respectable woman quit tired and over used. We've seen it in almost every Rom Com ever... The colors they painted Anthony in the last 2 seasons is far better, I think. Giving him this depth, the disonance between his wills and his responsability, or the way he sees it. I love the gentleman like, excruciating pining he experiences, and I love how it's mirrored with Kate. I just prefer how they characterized them here better than what you and other reactors who had read the books described them as.
So, if I read the books(a commitment! 😂) , would I get just the normal, expected romance novel with the enemies to lovers trope (which I love, don't get me wrong) or is there something more to it?
I felt like(in the book) it was different from many other enemies to lovers stories, and one reason is lust wasn't in the picture until quite a bit later. Their story seemed more believable to me and their attraction happened slowly, naturally, over time; especially after seeing each other with their own family dynamics (because family was most important to the both of them). Even then, they didn't like each other, but started to understand the other, & that grew to respect and the lust part kinda snuck in underneath(even that started off small & unwanted). Then, of course, they came across each other's vulnerable spots, realized how similar they & their situations were and so on. To me, the book was a good example of a slow burn, and it didn't seem that likely that they would match well. At first, she almost seemed like a good match for Colin! But hey🤷🏽♀️ you might think differently. Check it out!
Thank you so very much. I'm convinced now! :)
You are fantastic and totally right about Colin's goatee!
Hahahah its so so upsetting. Im so glad its gone by episode 3!!
I think Eloise has a very interesting physicality. I don't find it out of place so much. It is out of place with the ton because Eloise is out of place in the ton. She is not interested.
I'm not annoyed by Eloise at all. I love Eloise. I love her with Theo (since I see this is covering the whole season and not only discussing one episode). I like her trying to discover Whistledown. Her going out to have sex with somebody wouldn't really work. Sherlock Holmes can tell a lot from paper, and, as a Sherlockian, I love to see Eloise finding the type of paper, the mark, the one key in the typesetting that is damaged, and using those as clues in her investigation. I'd definitely watch a spinoff of Eloise as a lady detective, let me tell you.
I don't like Penelope, and I don't think Violet cares much about what Eloise feels on the inside.
I can't find your review of the first episode of the season
Okay don’t judge me but like a dumbass I didn’t notice the ending of your title so I had no idea this was your episode 2 review. HAH I commented on your episode 3 video thinking you skipped this one.
But I digress. Hahahah
When I tell you I laughed out loud when you said “You had one job” regarding Anthony’s friend!? It’s so true! Men always talking too dang much. Lol
I agree Eloísa should have been bangin the footman, he was hot! Hah
The love triangle irked me the wrong way the whole season I was watching because in the book the sisters loved each other so and I HATE how they tarnished that for me in the show. Book Kate would have never.
It’s funny how you were hatin on Colin. To be honest I disliked Book Colin so much on how he treated P. I loved Book Penelope. She was a boss bitch and I loved that. I’m hoping they redeem her in the show because it does not look good for her. And finally the commentary regarding that ass checking from Lady D to Kate was hilarious!!
Love your channel
I reallly disliked Book Colin when we got to Book 4. Penelope was a BADASS rich spinster and he was not worthy of her at all. All the stuff I liked about him in the first 3 books just vanished.
I thought the same. I had hoped they'd make Benedict bi. I really like him.
Being a dandy doesn't mean you can't be a good husband. I would like to see Edwina with the prince--although I did like her match in the book and her lack of interest in Anthony.
I don't know what this show has against Lord Byron.
I know we have some unreality, but Eloise going around and banging people seems a little unworkable if she even knew how to go about it.
If we could have less Featherington content, I'd be happy to get more Will and his wife.
I don't care what anybody says, I like her with Theo.
Why didn't you just forward the "boring" bits? It's *_your_* channel....
Hahahah i wanted to be fair and see if I was wrong about the parts being boring....i was not wrong
@@MiattaLebile 🤣
I tried following on Twitter and it said the user didn't exist 😭
This whole season is what's worse!
OMG HARSH!!!!
In the books Eloise is boring af 😒 her book was such a letdown
🤗
You are the best!!!!
did the people who got upset with Kate at the races get upset at Prudence?
I dont think anyone has thought about Prudence hahahav poor other Featherington sisters
Trader joes tequila for the win!
Just curious are you african?
I am! Nigerian!!
