- After Sexy Beast and Birth, audiences don't really expect the conventional from director Jonathan Glazer. But Under The Skin is even more in the realm of high art than the first two efforts from this director. Along for the ride this time is Scarlett Johansson, who is not only excellent, but shows complete commitment to the vision of the film.

Thanks for this. It's great to hear Scarlett and Jonathan talk about what I felt was one of the more powerful and unique films I've seen. And wow, Scarlett looks just amazing. Not that that's a surprise to anyone. :)
This is the actress and the director to compete with right now, they need oscars I just loved the movie and they are truly the best at what they do
Amazing performance and such a unique film experience. The sadness in the characters eyes in the van near the end of the movie was so intuitive. I loved this film so much. Not familiar with the book but will definitely seek it out.
Great interview! You really brought out the best in the interviewees! Can be really difficult watching interviews but your questions got them thinking about the parts they played as Director and actor, and I appreciate that. Made it so much more interesting for me to listen to. Thanks.

DP/30: The Oral History Of Hollywood Great job everyone involved. I would try to do more of these split interviews when you next have the right interviewees at the right time. SJ and Jon were great together here. I would love to see them work together again.
The reason she is so attractive has to do with her eyes. They are set wide apart and she has a doll-like face. I have often heard if you peel back the skin, she is alien underneath.
It was a great adaptation of the book. Their were things in the book that were better off being left out.

Hmm, I can see what you're trying to do conceptually by editing the interviews together but unfortunately I think it doesn't quite work unless it's done more conventionally by tying them together using titles/ music/ film clips, etc as it otherwise feels scrappy. The beauty of your interviews is just seeing the raw interview, no cuts, so hopefully more of that to come! Just watched your Jon Glazer interview which was great!
Duh, lemme ask some stupid questions about a movie I haven't seen about people I only read about in people mag. GEEZ, good thing these two pros can talk, the interviewer is a Lamp.

Mr. Glazer - I completely enjoyed your movie. I just wanted to comment about your metaphor regarding the ant, and its significance. I see the ant as bridging the type of biological trap that tropical ants face against the insect-eating pitcher plant, and how the aliens would devour men. Both in the mechanism of digestion, and how prey is lured into the trap are similar. Further, there is absolutely no way that the ant represented in the movie (exaggerated mandibles) originated in that region, it’s a jungle ant. I believe Glazer created a familiar way to pose a biological construct to the audience who would not be familiar with an alien digestive process. Sure, Scarlet could have ate her prey (which I would have equally enjoyed watching). But, it would be significantly more eerie to have prey willingly and mindlessly fall into the black goo. Further, it feels subconsciously familiar to the audience because we have that same process here on earth. It would further explain the uneasy feeling observers face when prey seemingly walk willingly and unemotively into a trap. Come to think of it, I wish Glazer would have spoken to me. I would have tried to convince him to have the setting closer to the equator to tie in the ant metaphor. Then again, maybe he tried to bury that idea on purpose to keep others off track, I digress. I have carefully looked and not found anyone else with my ant-metaphor theory . If anyone who worked on the film, or its writing could comment, I would appreciate it. Thank you Mr. Glazer for this masterpiece for me to dissect!!! I hope others see what I see also, and comment. See ya at the Mensa meeting!

The book is better, he should have adapted the book to work rather than tossing 99% of the book out the window and writing his own story. I saw the film first then read the book, the only things they have in common are alien, harvesting males, the ending is similar in what happens to Isserley which is the alien character's name.
