I’m going to sound old af but kids today cannot understand how legendary this era of underground hip hop was. eyedea RIP slug held the mic along time...but aesop never fell down hes gotta be almost 40 now... I am..HHAHA new rappers bite him today i guess its what happens when u r ahead of your time god bless
Man...there was a time when these 3 (with Sage Francis) were my entire music life. You start sneaking around smoking a little Slug and Sage and before you know it, you're injecting raw Aes and Sole. Careful with this stuff kiddies.
+JustHaveLove LMAO! I've been injecting a whole bindle of pure Eyedea (R.EYE.P.) daily along with chopping up and snorting all the Aesop Rock I can get my hands on... That Sage addiction is a hard one to kick too...
they're all so ill but man eyedea is just insane and it's not cause he's dead and gets too much props now like is the case with a lot of dead rappers. he is just on a whole nother level truly
Eyedea definitely is the best...he had good lyrics, great delivery and was a very humane person almost like a modern day John Lennon... but all three: JESUS @#$/N CHRIST!!! IF U KNOW ALL THREE, YOU WILL GET WHAT I MEAN!!! UN.B.LIEVABLE..
HEADSHOTS!!! THEE best crew all from Rhymesayers Ent WHO DO U THINK LEFT THEM CRACKS IN YOUR SIDEWALK!!! The love I have is indescribable. Ur still my favorite Eyedea...
Where should I start with rhymesayers? First thing I started with was faces of Oliver but it fucked me mentally hahah guess I just haven't beenin the best mindset but I literally thought my head was gonna fall off like a bobble head when I heard the orphanage freestyle!! but I don't know where to go from there, I also like slug and he's witty as fuck but so far every track I heard it sounds exactly like his freestyles (not that that is entirely a bad thing) it's just I've heard he's a emotional mc yet I haven't heard it yet, sorry for writing a book haha any tips on where to start would be dope :)
Mitch Passingham Nooo problem I write novels in the comments. I actually found Atmosphere before Eyedea. But with Eyedea start with First Born, then E and A Album, maybe then try By the Throat, and then How Eye Won The Write Too Think/Oliver Hart. That's exactly what I did, and it couldn't have been done better. First Born is all in the title so that's 1st. Then it's Eyedea and Abilities, next thru How Eye Won because Eye Won was all produced, performed, and engineered by just by Eyedea so it's got a different feel. Those 4 saved my sanity. It challenges u to break down ur ego. I'm still new to Aesop Rock but he's a whole other genius and lyrically u won't find the likes. And Slug just keeps it real, relatable, so hopefully that helps-
+Tyler Swanson hey what's goin on~this song is just awesomeness..I love all 3 of these cats. Imagine Eyedea if alive and kicking right now!?? He'd be kicking ASS undoubtedly
ROADRUNNER I can't believe I didn't notice this comment sooner...i don't remember it, n I would've considering how sweet.. It's old but ty, u made my night.. I really am one of the most down to Earth people, and I'm always friendly unless provoked. Nice comment!
+IronFloats if you wanna hear some mikey you might have not heard yet check out the many faces of mikey, released earlier this year. check it out, theres some gems on there.
El Feicho I've listened to every single Eyedea track, right? Including Oddjobs + Eyedea colab, Thorns, Lines, etc. I have listened to Many Faces of Mikey, it is mostly First Born tracks but recorded earlier, when he was 13. I don't live under a rock when it comes to Eyedea or Aesop Rock :3

Hearing Eyedea and Slug side by side just makes me wish Eyedea would have been around long enough to create some awesome songs with Sadistik. Sadistik and Eyedea are my two favorite rappers.
Time is of the essence, the blind will get offended. My prime is with my presence. Mind gets all the credit. Rewind that for a second that line wasn’t impressive. Find what I’ve suggested (and dine on what we’ve shedded). From the negatives and positives and sedatives deposited, and sediments of consciousness the let it live hypothesis of rhetoric took hostages to shed up with the goddesses. My head is split and gotta get some medicine to conquer it. Eyedeas never die
I’m going to sound old af but kids today cannot understand how legendary this era of underground hip hop was. I’m so glad I got to see all of these guys live along with sage francis, brother Ali, etc

They really should have done an entire album together.
they have a group called the orphanage check it out
no-one ?????? aesop said in an interview that they all got together and recorded an album together (with illogic and blueprint of course) and they didn't think it was complete enough to be released as an album so blueprint has all of the songs and only released two ("hold mine" and "obsolete").
+audiblejunk Really? Never knew that. 'Hold Mine' was quality!
+no-one ?????? I didnt say they made an album but if you want to hear them all together check out the orphanage

Aes, Slug & Eyedea... AESOP FUCKING ROCK, SEAN DALEY AND MIKE together, this is too good
Eyedea is my favorite rapper ever, and Aesop Rock is definitely my second
556FATHOMS Eyedea got me through some seriously depressing highschool garbage. So happy to find something new for me after 5+ years
+IronFloats Cherish it when you find new jems, because he isn't making anything ever again. RIP Eyedea
+IronFloats seriously!
+IronFloats if you wanna hear some mikey you might have not heard yet check out the many faces of mikey, released earlier this year. check it out, theres some gems on there.

The opening makes me happy
What a track!
STILL BANGS
I hate so much that this track ends.
Ive felt that way since the day this album dropped
June 16th 2019. Not much iller has come out since this track.
God Damn ive died and gone to heaven
[Verse 1: Aesop Rock]
Yo, I mock tenor, lend a hand (Lend that hand!)
We rock negative, mock to lend a hand to zealots
I walk the block with a can of phantom repellant
A cappella got a bread crumb; spray the crowd
Fill that gut up to that stomach, shut the fuck up!
[Verse 2: Eyedea]
Let’s make a sharp turn to avoid this road of heartburn
Those that are smart learn
To carefully count the amount they art earns
Barefoot we walk on a dirt trail full of broken glass
I’m prepared to say (I’ma be alright)
Secretly hope you ask
[Verse 3: Slug]
Dismantling the math of every bridge in our path
The ugly carving out a line between the good and the bad
You can scream until the cords in your neck stretch and snap
But best believe the three of us
Will walk away with the last laugh
[Verse 4: Aesop Rock]
Your stance to the canvas silhouettes
With a crooked cigarette clamp and a raised cup
Crooked in the cage for luck; if I should botch it
Negotiate the merger with an optimistic process
Then serve through the wormhole
I guess I’m still learning the trickery
Breathe and I shove my key in the mystery
Jimmy the latch and attach my nickname to the victory
It’s like, we’ve been through the same shit a hundred times
If you see a penny, pick it up, like engine number nine
[Verse 5: Eyedea]
Time is of the essence
The blind will get offended
My prime is with my presence
Mine gets all the credit
Rewind that for a second
That line wasn’t impressive
Find what I’ve suggested
(And dine on what we’ve shedded)
From the negatives and positives
And sedatives deposited
In sediments of consciousness
The let-it-live hypothesis
Of rhetoric took hostages
To shed up with the goddesses
My head is splittin’, gotta get
Some medicine to conquer it
[Verse 6: Slug]
Yo, this town is nothing but a ghost town
The tumbleweeds are whispering
To get down with the broke down
And these days I spend more time on the freeways
Than I do in my own bed, and it’s fucking up my head
Another pack of smokes, roughly seven more beers
Brings me another day closer to the end of this year
This farm caught all the damage the storm brought
We're taking all of your crops
From your children to your corncobs
[Verse 7: Aesop Rock]
Okay, my attempt's to break the ice
I take a slice at pacifism
Classically conditioned to be a Pavlov
To stick in the kitchen while the bell tolls
Placed in a cell amidst fellow hermits
Note a thousand hello’s
But not enough room for two thousand elbows
[Verse 8: Eyedea]
I’ve got a chip on my shoulder and a chip in my tooth
The proof is in the pudding, but the pudding’s in my youth
The kid growing older through a stick in the truth
Tryin’ to rip himself loose from the grip of the noose
[Verse 9: Slug]
Man, how many minutes must I sit in this corner and fidget?
Patiently searching for existence in this KFC biscuit
Eyedea, Blockhead, Atmosphere, Aesop Rock (What?)
Who the fuck you think left them cracks in your sidewalk?
[Verse 10: Aesop Rock]
Eyedea could spit death and Slug could spit in your modem
I could spit rap and attach the liberty bell makeover
It’s bound to be nothing short of scrapped delineation
But I gave this song a raise, she considers herself taken
So I stick to where the winds burn faces
Sometimes flash yellow backs like jaundice patients
Complacent with stop-drop runaway
If there's art in casualty
Maybe the fact my plastic halo runs off of car batteries
Like fishin’ through art galleries
[Verse 11: Eyedea]
I’ve been waiting for this situation for the past few days
Masturbating with my thoughts
While caught in the masquerade
I’m beating around the bush looking for a faster way
Perhaps to play on this stage a disaster will actually pay
Maybe, so I keep on going straight
What do you say, "We"?
Could trade places and wait patient to go crazy
I blatantly warned you, fatefully scorned
Vague description of my silhouette
Wouldn't make sense to the mind of a baby
[Verse 12: Slug]
We never looked for trouble from no one (Please be my friend)
But if the shoes fit, I’ll wear them kicks with pride
Inside and outside (All the way to the song’s end)
And maybe we’ll all get along when we die
What we’re trying to say is
You could never begin to comprehend this
No need to even attempt
This planet is mine, and I’ma handle it fine
When I learn how to manage my time (Manage your time)
[Hook: Slug]
I’ma wear down this world with my tracks (With my tracks)
I’ma love it until I break her back (Break that back!)
And I’ma blow her a kiss and a smile (There’s that smile!)
With my luck I’ma miss by a mile (Miss by a mile)
I’ma wear down this world with my tracks (With my tracks)
I’ma love it until I break her back (Break that back!)
I’ma blow her a kiss and a smile (There’s that smile!)
With my luck I’ma miss by a mile (Miss by a mile)
[Outro: Eyedea]
With my luck I’ll probably miss by a mile
With my luck I’ll probably miss by a mile
With my luck I’ll probably miss by a mile
With my luck I’ll probably miss by a mile
it's knowing there.there crazy none 1,.
dope track...eydea
Aes is good but the fact that eyedea can rap with a similar level of complexity with more coherence makes him amazing
That's subjective. Personally I prefer Ace, but to each their own.
Ace is probably more wordy, and probably a more advanced poet. Eyedea is likely more personal to a larger crowd.

A old school song
FROM THE NEGATIVE AND POSITIVES AND SEDATIVE DEPOSITED IN SEDIMENTS OF CONSCIOUSNESS THE LET IT LIVE HYPOTHESIS OF RHETORIC TOOK HOSTAGES TO SHED UP WITH THE GODDESSES MY HEAD IS SPLITTIN GOTTA GET SOME MEDICINE TO CONQUER IT
[Verse 1: Aesop Rock] Yo, I mock tenor, lend a hand (Lend that hand!) We rock negative, mock to lend a hand to zealots I walk the block with a can of phantom repellant A cappella got a bread crumb; spray the crowd Fill that gut up to that stomach, shut the fuck up! [Verse 2: Eyedea] Let’s make a sharp turn to avoid this road of heartburn Those that are smart learn To carefully count the amount they art earns Barefoot we walk on a dirt trail full of broken glass I’m prepared to say (I’ma be alright) Secretly hope you ask [Verse 3: Slug] Dismantling the math of every bridge in our path The ugly carving out a line between the good and the bad You can scream until the cords in your neck stretch and snap But best believe the three of us Will walk away with the last laugh [Verse 4: Aesop Rock] Your stance to the canvas silhouettes With a crooked cigarette clamp and a raised cup Crooked in the cage for luck; if I should botch it Negotiate the merger with an optimistic process Then serve through the wormhole I guess I’m still learning the trickery Breathe and I shove my key in the mystery Jimmy the latch and attach my nickname to the victory It’s like, we’ve been through the same shit a hundred times If you see a penny, pick it up, like engine number nine
[Verse 5: Eyedea] Time is of the essence The blind will get offended My prime is with my presence Mine gets all the credit Rewind that for a second That line wasn’t impressive Find what I’ve suggested (And dine on what we’ve shedded) From the negatives and positives And sedatives deposited In sediments of consciousness The let-it-live hypothesis Of rhetoric took hostages To shed up with the goddesses My head is splittin’, gotta get Some medicine to conquer it [Verse 6: Slug] Yo, this town is nothing but a ghost town The tumbleweeds are whispering To get down with the broke down And these days I spend more time on the freeways Than I do in my own bed, and it’s fucking up my head Another pack of smokes, roughly seven more beers Brings me another day closer to the end of this year This farm caught all the damage the storm brought We're taking all of your crops From your children to your corncobs
[Verse 7: Aesop Rock] Okay, my attempt's to break the ice I take a slice at pacifism Classically conditioned to be a Pavlov To stick in the kitchen while the bell tolls Placed in a cell amidst fellow hermits Note a thousand hello’s But not enough room for two thousand elbows [Verse 8: Eyedea] I’ve got a chip on my shoulder and a chip in my tooth The proof is in the pudding, but the pudding’s in my youth The kid growing older through a stick in the truth Tryin’ to rip himself loose from the grip of the noose [Verse 9: Slug] Man, how many minutes must I sit in this corner and fidget? Patiently searching for existence in this KFC biscuit Eyedea, Blockhead, Atmosphere, Aesop Rock (What?) Who the fuck you think left them cracks in your sidewalk? [Verse 10: Aesop Rock] Eyedea could spit death and Slug could spit in your modem I could spit rap and attach the liberty bell makeover It’s bound to be nothing short of scrapped delineation But I gave this song a raise, she considers herself taken So I stick to where the winds burn faces Sometimes flash yellow backs like jaundice patients Complacent with stop-drop runaway If there's art in casualty Maybe the fact my plastic halo runs off of car batteries Like fishin’ through art galleries
[Verse 11: Eyedea] I’ve been waiting for this situation for the past few days Masturbating with my thoughts While caught in the masquerade I’m beating around the bush looking for a faster way Perhaps to play on this stage a disaster will actually pay Maybe, so I keep on going straight What do you say, "We"? Could trade places and wait patient to go crazy I blatantly warned you, fatefully scorned Vague description of my silhouette Wouldn't make sense to the mind of a baby [Verse 12: Slug] We never looked for trouble from no one (Please be my friend) But if the shoes fit, I’ll wear them kicks with pride Inside and outside (All the way to the song’s end) And maybe we’ll all get along when we die What we’re trying to say is You could never begin to comprehend this No need to even attempt This planet is mine, and I’ma handle it fine When I learn how to manage my time (Manage your time) [Hook: Slug] I’ma wear down this world with my tracks (With my tracks) I’ma love it until I break her back (Break that back!) And I’ma blow her a kiss and a smile (There’s that smile!) With my luck I’ma miss by a mile (Miss by a mile) I’ma wear down this world with my tracks (With my tracks) I’ma love it until I break her back (Break that back!) I’ma blow her a kiss and a smile (There’s that smile!) With my luck I’ma miss by a mile (Miss by a mile) [Outro: Eyedea] With my luck I’ll probably miss by a mile With my luck I’ll probably miss by a mile With my luck I’ll probably miss by a mile With my luck I’ll probably miss by a mile
yes

Emilios Powerballer we came from beyond volume 2.
Hearing Eyedea and Slug side by side just makes me wish Eyedea would have been around long enough to create some awesome songs with Sadistik. Sadistik and Eyedea are my two favorite rappers.
Rip eyedea
Time is of the essence, the blind will get offended. My prime is with my presence. Mind gets all the credit. Rewind that for a second that line wasn’t impressive. Find what I’ve suggested (and dine on what we’ve shedded). From the negatives and positives and sedatives deposited, and sediments of consciousness the let it live hypothesis of rhetoric took hostages to shed up with the goddesses. My head is split and gotta get some medicine to conquer it.
