We are back for another episode of the podcast and my guest today is none other than Levi Kitchen. Levi is currently in the middle of his breakout season as a professional Motocross and Supercross rider. He narrowly missed out on this years 250 West Coast title in a decided at Salt Lake and is now in the thick of the AMA Motocross Championship against longtime rival Haiden Deegan.
On this episode of the podcast we talk about his love of all things fishing, his unique upbringing by typical motocross standards, his life in Washington, taking racing seriously, his early years at Star Yamaha, leaving for Pro Circuit Kawasaki, we talk about money in the sport and his golf swing.

I thought the majority of the tracks sucked balls this year. Supercross tracks from the 2000’s were so much better
100%, when I think of Supercross I think of big jumps, whoops, and the gnarliest dudes on 2 wheels. 2024 Supercross was like watching the pros ride a local fairground SX track
They absolutely sucked and you correct exactly why Jett will never be as good as tomac or js7 or rc4 the tracks they raced on are gnarly as fuck these new tracks are for a bunch of puss's

Jett is better at it than James was honestly. Unfortunately we haven't gotten to see it that much yet on the 450.
Eli said it best, "You don't allow for the elite guys to be, elite." I understand the "why" to a certain degree but I am not for the 9 whoop (rhythm) limit. It is by far my greatest gripe with SX right now. It is just interesting to me, it may because we have more media and more independent media surrounding moto now, but I don't remember there ever being this much f-ckery with the tracks, track crews, flaggers, broadcast, camera crews, sign board girls, penalities, off-track interpretationary illusion dissolusions, or any of this. Is it just me or were we just not as passionate about being more mainstream or something? I say that positively and not trying to sound like, "oh it was better back in the day," but just curious as to what has influenced all of this..

Make Supercross safer by covering the plywood and concrete. Whoops have been around since the first SX race when bikes had 6"/4" suspension. Now that real suspension exists the pink unicorns at Coombs cult decide to have "safe racing". Cover the plywood and concrete.
No kidding. Slightly sharper angle and Forkner's in the first row, which happened after Webb did it years earlier, but whoops are the problem? Even the clip they ran through showed like a dozen dudes crashing. They didn't all get injured. Proof you can survive a whoops crash.
Supercross is going woke , (whoops are to hard ) and ( we can't get that close in the corners ) and ( block passes is mean and dirty AND JUST NOT FAIR ) racing is going downhill fast next they will put referee's on the track with little yellow red and black flags
No real whoops is Complete slap to the entire history of Supercross!

Im glad i did a lot of arena cross races when i was younger. As an amateur, not many are great in the whoop so learning how to blitz them really helped to make time on track that had them. Even on tracks that are just really rough in general, you build a better understanding of how your suspension is supposed to perform
The tracks this past supercross season sucked balls. All one lined and no whoops! Making it more of a pussy sport so to speak!! Watch when Reed, Stewart, and Carmichael were racing, the passing was insane and the racing was way better!!
Tomac and Anderson both won 7 mains in 2022.

You get out there and skim whoops then. See how long before you break bones. If you want whoops go riding in any public offroad riding areas.

Smaller and shorter whoops sections, no dragon's back, its definitely a softer version of the sport. MX has always been the pinnacle anyway, long live the great outdoors
You're just wrong though, SX is and will continue to be the peak. There's guys with SX only rides, you ever heard of a top guy with an MX only right? No. And there's a reason for that. And that's spoken as someone who is also a bigger fan out outdoors than SX.

Whoop section was always the most desirable seating. A definite crowd favorite. Dumb move to take them out.
They keep making the tracks easier to try and keep the racing close. If they didn't make the whoops so easy this year Webb would have won half as many mains and Jett would have wrapped up the title early.
That, plus to keep the racers on the track and not on the couch hurt. I had heard the theory was that shortening the section made it so that when someone gets sketchy, they'll be beyond the section so they don't slam into the face of a whoop, and with Kenny's shock blowout, it worked. He landed beyond the section. He still got hurt, and I DON'T like that they did it, it's super lame, I'm just saying WHY they did it, even I don't agree with their decision.
The guys will separate themselves even with easier tracks. James and RV used to kick everyone’s ass on smooth dry tracks
Make Whoops Great Again
The whoops are part of dirt bike racing, just because some people can't learn it is not a reason to remove them. BUT they need to be made more uniform from track to track, some tracks have nice tall but still wide whoops that make for good skims, and others are super tall peaky thin messes that are flat dangerous

Can we please have less people misusing the word woke to represent anything they do not like or more times than not something they do not understand? We are in America pal nobody will take away your god given right to be one of the most hate filled and uncomfortably ignorant men on earth. Motocross isn’t “woke” because the powers that be are trying to make things safer for the riders. While I for one don’t agree with taking the whoops out nor the dragon backs. The whoops need to way more difficult. These guys need to be challenged. These guys are moto’s best. Way too easy for them.
I walked those A3 2022 whoops. They were MASSIVE and like 13 or 14 long.

SX has gotten bad due to the new stadiums being so much smaller than the old dome stadiums. The tracks are so small and tight and one line.

One of my favorite moto conspiracy theories lol it makes sense, esp with the push for international audiences and the success of MXGP dudes. But then again, I’m a football fan and they’ve been sissifying tf out of that sport for over a decade now and sadly i think we’re approaching that in moto

@@mslman vialle wouldn't of benefitted at all if haiden knew how to be consistent in supercross. That 2024 sx east title should of been haidens after forkner and mcadoo got hurt but dangerdork let his ego get the best of him and the Frenchy won the war.
The whoops are one of the most entertaining things in supercross as a fan. Watching them jump through them is lamer than watching any other part of the track.
Imo either change it to another rythm section or make them shorter so it’s not viable to jump through them
If you want to ride whoops go out to any popular public off-road riding areas. We stay away from them as they sux. It's what happens to offroad tracks that are heavily riden with no upkeep. They say these areas qre safer to ride which is a joke. I jumped fmx ramps and huge dunes and ripped around with mates at high speeds in unknown areas. Then when riding whoops at speeds over years it was only times I broke bones when crashing because of them. I raced amateur mx for 6 years ane never broke anything. On crashes over whoops I broke ankle, destroyed knee (ACL/MCL/LCL torn and ripped off bone) same time breaking tibular/fibula ( 3 operations on knee and screws 2in lower leg and 5yrs later still can't feel leg below knee/can hardly squatt or kneel on my soft bed, dislocated leg from pelvis same time crushing couple vertebrae in lower back and slipping couple in neck, been KO 3 times which I think caused me to get Epilepsy at age of 37yrs.
People only want whoops because they're not able to keep up at front and know only way they get positions is in whoops if someone else makes a mistake.
