BUCK at 47 Yards! | Nevada Mule Deer (EP. 1)

- On this hunt, Randy Newberg is headed south to his old stomping ground of Nevada to link up with lifelong friend Scott Jones to chase mule deer with his bow. This is a 5th choice tag and certainly isn't going to be easy. But Randy often prioritizes sharing camp with friends and family over hunting places with the biggest trophy animals.
The plan is simple: get to a good glassing locations well before daybreak, glass up a buck and stalk him once he goes and beds down. While the strategy is simple, it's far from easy. Getting within archery distance of a mature buck with a cameraman on your shoulder poses several challenges.
They spend the first couple days covering country and glassing as much good looking habitat as possible. There is plenty of deer around, but most seem to be big groups of does and fawns. But they are able to locate a couple bucks and now the long stalk in the heat of the day begins.

It feels good to be back in the hills. This is my first hunt of the season. Who else has been out hunting already this fall?
Been out 6 days (day hunts) so far!
Dove season opened this past week in AZ. My niece has a new Savage 6.5 and a youth Javelina tag in October. My 15 year old son and I and a friend have Coues deer tags in early November. And thank all good things, my brother and one of my best friends and I have northern AZ bull elk tags the day after Thanksgiving in our favorite, not heavily hunted unit. All welcome respites any time (skunked on elk tags the last two years!), but especially so in Covid times. Happy hunting to you all!
5 days of elk so far and two chances already. No elk down yet though.
Busy clearing lanes and moving stands season open September 19th for Minnesota.
Living my dreams through you sir!
I tried using the discount code RANDY at my local Raptor dealer. They looked at me funny...
Cantrall Creek Outfitters 🤣🤣🤣
Great to see Scott looking fit and healthy this hunt.
Bye-bye, Nissan. Hello, Ford.
@CoWboyS FaN Obviously the channel and RNI is doing good. Maybe wrap it next time.
Just that sun rise was worth getting up for!! Little lone getting a deer!!
That is just a little Nevada pin striping😉
Scotty pulls out a seating chair for glassing, and eating, and ... , I sure can appreciate 👊
Glad too Randy looking healthy! Love your work sir!
It was great to be able to watch this while waiting for my dad in his open heart surgery that I was telling you about yesterday. Hope you're finding some elk and having lots of fun and luck
Always a great pleasure.
14:20 S.O.S. Grew up with my father making that at all the time and was a staple in Deer Camp. Thanks Randy for bringing back great memories.
Randy I'm so jealous. Watching you run around in a Raptor hunting and fishing and just living the dream. Man I'm just going to have to get back to work and settle for smiling your smile. Awesome show Randy. You might wanna consider putting a good vinyl wrap on your truck Randy. A good wrap will save your paint. It's kinda spendy. You will have to balance the cost of the wrap with the cost of a new paint job. Something for you to ponder.
Dale... Just tell him you wanted to hunt tomorrow. 😁 Any time your friends/family gets to hunt with you, it's a good hunt. 👍🏹🦌
Got to embrace the Nevada pin striping on the truck
I love the high pitched squeal of twigs on paint. Can’t stay new forever! Might as well..
Seeing Randy driving the Raptor Instead of the Titan is like boiling hotdogs instead of grilling them...
As always, thanks for the great content uncle Randy
I enjoyed the camera guys talking and showing some personality.
Here we have the white lotus of hunters. Love it
So glad to see you back doing what you love, and what I would love to do with you.
I love your patience!
Good to see you in a Ford, I came to the dark side from Ram and couldn’t be happier.
Outstanding and the fall hunting season begins!
Leave them scratches, that truck is now introduced to the great outdoors , it is now tattooed!!
Great time lapse photo shots.
They will buff out but that’s backcountry pinstripes makes the truck tougher looking 😁
Heck yeah randy that's what I tell my buddies takin a nap is an important part of the hunt lol 😆
Gotta get that clear wrap on the truck.
@Randy newberg Hunter. Could have got a 3M vinyl wrap on it to save paint. Search overland trucks getting wrapped.
Or try ceramic coating... good luck out there.
Owww that's a hard lesson.
Smoked goose, you mean ribeye from the sky!
Pretty slick intro clip with the music and showing off the new rig that EVERYONE and their Uncle kept asking you about in all the Elk Talk Lives, etc... Speaking of said Raptor, nice Nevada Pinstripes that you got there, hopefully a magic eraser or something will buff those out. But that happens when you have the widest (second widest when the RAM TRX comes out) light duty truck out there. One of the reasons why you didn't get the Titan XD was that it wasn't as narrow and nimble as the standard Titan Pro-4x. I can't blame you though for going with the most Off Road capable light duty truck out there for the Super Deal that you got it for to ease your tax accountant mind. I am sure she rides better than most over all those bumps out there.
Most first days are scouting days for many of hunters out there. I know that you are going to take what you spoke of in one of your Lessons Learned videos and apply it here to this hunt and future mule deer archery hunts. Glad to see you get some stalks in on a couple good bucks and have a good time with friends, that is what hunting is about, even though we all want to put an arrow or bullet through a target animal and get some meat for the freezer and a different story to tell. Either way there is a story to tell and something to learn from.
Raptor...someone is making the big bucks ! Lol
First, Let's get the comments about the truck out of the way.
I saw the Ford logo and thought this was another spoof 😄. A v6 raptor, Randy?
Welcome back Randy.
good first video , enjoyed it , i think you enjoy getting some pin stripes on your trucks, you wasted no time. ha ha ha
love the vid !
Randy! Hello FORD! My blue oval has 300k on it in CA, OR, NV, ID chasing deer, elk, antelope, & chucker, yours will treat you right if you just keep the oil fresh in it and tires under it. man that was a big buck! Hope you get another crack at that one!
Randy? Have you heard of a tactic of not staring at the game during a stalk? Try it... see if they are less aware of your presence. I've used that on stalking moose. I looked down at the ground and only glanced at them until ready to shoot. As soon as a locked my gaze into a stare, their big ol' head arced around and looked right at me. They're tuned in to their sixth sense.
I prefer to think of naps during glassing sessions, as lulling the deer into a false sense of security!
Desert Pinstripe buffs out with a good Orbital pad and some cleaner wax.
Every time i watch your videos i often wonder what it would be like to hunt this way. In the north idaho panhandle, i don't even bring binoculars lol. Extremely successful but it's a completely different type of hunting.
Good ol uncle randy got himself a new hunting rig i always say if it ant strack it ant mine.... my rig has custom New Mexico pinstripes
Randy got a ford "trail striped Raptor"... and maybe some ounces around mid section. He also left Montana in time to miss the cold weather.
If you’ve been following, you would know that Randy has had this planned for months and months. Hater!
@@zach5620 what was planned for months? Where's the hater vibes coming from?
Hunting is the hardest job but most gratifying so naps are esential
I am liking the truck choice. what caused the change?
Gotcha a real truck there Randy....made to tackle them roads at 70+ mph.
FACEMASKS AND GLOVES. One thing that is more importaint then any other camo gear, is to hide the skin!
Im a avid hunter for capercail and grouse, and you learn the hard way that they spot a face or hand miles away.
A simple face mask and dark gloves help alot, esp when you peak like that.
Nice truck it's getting broke in now. Different than the Nissan.
What is the name of that Leupold soft case?
Isn’t a stalk without your bow called “sightseeing”> LOL. Randy you need a camo Sitka hat, your camo looks like it works well but when you’re that close your hat sticks out for the deer to see. That pin-striping looks bad. Did that to a brand new fire engine red Jeep rental in AZ. Nothing like a good tip for the guys at the car wash and a good coat of wax with a buffer can’t hide til I get out of town,!
Only 5 deer...in California lucky to see anything the whole season lol
When you break down in that Ford on an elk hunt you let me know and I'll come pick you up at my Dodge. Always looking for new area to hunt. And do my parts keep the trash off the mountains. LOL
Looks a lot like area 6. Buy you said leftover tags? Area 10?
Randy will you come hunt with us? :)
Are you hunting close to Wild Horse Reservoir? We have hunted that area and love it!
You got rid of the Titan?
@randynewberg liking the new popup 30? I just picked up the 20 for whitetail here in pa.
Hi Randy, I think your face was giving you away in both stalks, that and your hands. I facemask and gloves might go a long way. Something to consider. Great content as always.
I thought that was called Montana pinstriping
Did i miss something Randy driving a Ford and not a Nissian , a Raptor to boot ?
Horns are nice..........but you can’t eat them! At least I haven’t come across any good recipes for them.
Took me 3 starts/stops/resumes before I finished this one. Reading the title of this episode I reckuned an arrow was flying for homebase...NOT! Well, better luck next day.
Just out of curiosity, whatever happen to your cow?
What happened to the Nissan Titan? How you like that Raptor?
I haven't had anyone mention s@$t on a shingle in years. We ate that all the time when I was younger. I use to love the stuff..
No more Nissan truck?
9 ads across 30 minutes... I feel like I'm watching Jim Shockey constantly selling out. Oh well... guess I'm going to watch something that doesn't have an ad every 3 minutes, like cable TV.
I guess he needs the cash for the repairs on his Raptor...
Well...Now I know why you didn't wanna name your llama TITAN....You switched to Ford... DOH!
What ever happened to brand loyalty said the Nissan guy . . .
I know, I would too in a heartbeat!
I’m just jealous . . .
Thunder_Chief pretty sure he said he bought it himself back in the spring
j carry I didn’t see or hear that, but if it was sponsored - and there is nothing wrong with that - we’d see a Ford logo with all the sponsors on the screen. I’m a Dodge guy, but one small benefit of age is the wisdom to know that all the major truck manufacturers make excellent trucks and they just keep getting better. Though not cheaper
But why switch from a reliable horse? Raptors are cool, but they’re a little too cool for workaday hunting. They’re a flashy fast corvette when all you need is a reliable Honda Accord
Time to get can am to sponsor you
I dont think the RANDY discount code works for Gohunt.com anymore
Is this your first hunt of 2020?
Sure is, first of the season!
Is Randy a Ford man now?
New sponsor huh?
I missed a 6x6 this year because of a bad tuned broadhead! Make sure your equipment is tuned guys!!
More like buck fever. Not a broad heads fault. Lol
Eric probably
I liked your content so much better before all the brand name glory shots. That was the reason I stopped watching hunting tv shows.
Should have got a tundra 🤦
My god your poor paint job!! Should get vinyl wrap protect that paint
