I think there is or maybe it's something similar to it. Not sure but we definitely have one at home but my guess is it's to protect your rear side as you fall
Yeah I have experienced many wreck in my rzr 170 and .25 midget career with the Hans and different neck restraints, the neck restraint is a life saving device. I race .25 midget ps at the Sandia speedway in New Mexico and rzr 170 off-road racing all across the country from Johnson valley CA to Davis OK
When they first came out NASCAR drivers didn't want to use them as well as a full face helmet now they are mandated the only good thing that came out of Dale Earnhardt's death
Ah I only now noticed that the over the shoulder seatbelts hold the HANS in place. So the harder the crash, the harder the seatbelts hold the device in place, and the better the device is able to withstand the whiplash. Simple designs are the best!
@@diegogamering Either way, it was _mandated_ in NASCAR one year before it was first used during a Grand Prix, and _two_ years before it was mandated in F1.

Don't be surprised if the FIA make the Halo slightly higher for 2025/26 regs because of what happened to the driver who flipped the car at Silverstone race 2023 and the incident with Lewis/Max 2021 when Verstappen car tyre managed to hit lewis crash helmet. Looking at Perez crash at Monaco race don't be surprised of more safety features even though more did its job to protect Perez.
It's shocking how safe F1 racing actually is in comparison to what you'd think it is. Most motorsport seems relatively safe...bar anything to do with bikes lol😂

Not just an f1 device, HANS is an all Motorsports (maybe not motorcycle) device

isn't the reason senna didn't survive was because a shard got in his helmet?
f1 was like the last major racing series to require it if i remember correctly.
