- My personal top 20 movie scenes that made me jump - a mix of classic and modern jump scares, some clever and unexpected jump scares and some obvious and simple jump scares, but at the time of first watching they all made me jump and some still do.

It's not the actual thing, it's the sound it makes or the sound the producers edit the movie to make during the jump scare.
The scenes in Exorcist III and Mulholland Drive are my two favourite scenes in movie history. Thank you for including them, good sir.

That scene in the Salem's Lot fucked me up soooo bad when I was a little kid, it still gives me chills today... But his reaction to Nosferatu popping up, HAHAHAH! That shit kills me! XD

That movie scared me silly too - not this scene as much as the scene where the old teacher hears the noise upstairs, or when the Nosferatu guy visits the kid’s family, or the bus driver goes out to his bus at night, or...

The lawnmower scene from Sinister and the hospital scene from The Exorcist 3 scare the hell out of me every single time. I know it's coming but it still makes me jump out of my seat.

Great scene with Dreyfuss making that discovery. The only problem with that scene is there is little chance a fisherman could get attacked by a huge shark and wind up inside the hull of his boat. Unless the implication is the shark sank the boat, then wormed its way inside the sinking hull, bit him into pieces, then left.

Pretty good list and nice mix. # 18 totally got me. I never scare easy or jump, but that one literally made me scream and jump out of my seat about a foot. No movie had ever done that to me, and for that one scene alone, I give the Descent kudos!

This is a good list. Have you seen the Exorcist? I remember the scene where the Reagan-demon hits Father Karras on the back - that generated quite a few loud screams in the theater. Of course, that whole movie was one big jump scare LoL.

Friday the 13th 3:32 wasnt scary at all but stil heavent watched the whole vid.
Oh, it was scary, trust me. I saw it on the big screen on opening night in 1980, I was sixteen. It generated one of those popcorn flyin', seat kickin' screams from the audience LoL. Nobody saw it coming - the whole theater erupted. It didn't quite match but came close to the Jaws scene scream - THAT was definitely number one.
Jaws is my favorite movie and I knew it would be number one!! It is so masterfully built up!

While yes it may be dumb, seeing as you probably didn't watch the movie and are just spouting crap. That entire scene is dead quiet until that loud shriek.
ive acually seen the movie and am a big horror fan. But I still dont think that seen was scary, just another old cheesy jump scare. I acually like the movie in general but it's really not scary.

The Insidious one was really clever, I was expecting it to be in the flashback but nnnoooo. Plus the way it extends it hand slowly with its pointy fingers like spider's legs is quite eerie.
