Airline: United Airlines
Aircraft: Boeing 777-222
Reg: N772UA
Livery: Normal
Airport: Portland International Airport
Runway: 10L
Flight #: UA876
Route: PDX-SEA
Date: 1/21/13
Time: 12:40PM
Comments: Diverted from SEA due to fog.
Nice video my friend ✈️
Yeah, sorry to spoil the fun, but as far as I am aware, N772UA suffered an uncontained Engine Failure on the number 2 engine. I’m not going to say much, but my best guess is that the compressors malfunctioned, and in several clips from the flight, one can see that part of the cowling (the part that covers the reversers) burned up. Nevertheless, excellent catch! Also, the startup sound is beautiful!
UA876 on 1-21-13 was diverted from SEA to PDX due to fog. Uncontained engine failures don't fly again an hour after the incident.
That was in Denver not Portland... Where did you get that info from? Just read the NTSB report 😂
N772ua got the new paint
I’ve Been in that same exact spot where he is filming this, he’s on the top floor of a car garage
Nice video work! I fly often, but I still get nervous with takeoff so I like to watch takeoff videos. This is by far the best one!
I *LOVE* the buzzsaw of that PW4000!
Thanks! :)
Those are ge90s
@@1000BT No, they're PW4000, 777-200ER's are powered by GE-90 94B while the classic -200 is powered by PW4000, I think -200ER does power both for United
@@jchavezz7774 Actually only the ex-Continental 77s are powered by PWs
@@PlanesAndGames732 Oh were they? Nice
Wow! Excellent engine buzz sound!!
Awesome catch!
Thanks! :)
Hello, i watched your trip reports!
OMG IT'S SIMPLY AVIATION! I'M A BIG FAN!!!
One of my most beloved aircrafts. There is something so revolutionary about the 777. Isnt this gorgeous bird one of the oldest in the fleet or do I have her confused with a different 777.
N777UA was the first 777 in commercial service with United. N774UA is the oldest active 777 in the world, like number 2 it was one of the prototypes Boeing used for the certification testing.
Oh god that sound. It's so beautiful!!
Great footage man, enjoyed it
Flew on this very 777 October 2016 Heathrow to Washington Dulles. Solid bird, quiet and comfortable.
Awesome! Thanks! :)
Superb take off
Man, the PW4077 engines though, that's another level! That's super rare to have a 777 at Portland, but it did have do divert, but great catch! Love it!
@@747heavyboeing3 nope, my dads a Ua pilot and on the forum it was said that they will be back spring of 2022. UA j grounded them for a while after the DEN explosion incident.
Fun fact: this was the same aircraft that was involved in Flight 328 when the engine caught fire
Yes and United voluntarily grounded all Pratt and Whitney powered 777s from service in February.
Many are already in the boneyard including this airplane which was the 5th 777 built.
@@747heavyboeing3 and now they’re back in service
Ahh the good old spool, I was on a beach in hnl,the beach near the tarmac, omg the United 777’s always sounded beautiful
Two hours ago its right engine just blew up
I was flying out of denver and saw him pushback, scary stuff
kmht spotting Oh my! Probably not, but did you see anything unusual? Was your flight affected? Also, coincidentally, I did a flight from Denver to London just today in my flight simulator lol
Back again reminiscing about the unobstructed days
This is the plane that had the uncontained failure yesterday.
Indeed
Wait
Send me a link I am confused
Beautiful, Although I know that the economics don't allow it, but it would be nice for UA to have a 777 from PDX daily. On a side note I really miss the old days when there used to be regular 757s IAD-PDX service
Nice catch! Flew one SFO-CLE once, but now that United closed its hub in CLE, there are no more widebodies. Cool plane
Groyd Question How Did they Got Shutdown IN CLE? Why is that? Is that Their Stocks Going Bad?
Ian Harris I think so... United was losing to much money with the hub in CLE so there was a major withdrawal in 2014.
Groyd Say Waaaat Are you Kidding me!!! How CLE Costumers Fly United form State to State?
Ian Harris Oh, we have some new airlines that will hopefully replace most of what United had, like JetBlue, Spirit, and Frontier. And United still takes up most of Concourse C there. They just abandoned the D Concourse, which used to be full of United.
i miss the battleship grey and tulip livery
Me too. Thanks! :)
Hi There ikr
At least this new livery is somewhat similar to the Blue Tulip livery
RIP Saul Bass Tulip 1974-2010
The new livery actually beats these two and the continental, but yeah, continental is by far my least favourite.
Tulip is the best United livery.
Since there are lots of United Flights from South America to Seattle it is probably not THAT rare to see things like these where planes divert to Portland, but this is still pretty cool. I'm leaving a like for good camera work!
United actually doesnt have any flights to South America from Seattle. Thanks! :)
@@planesguy Huh, I must have been thinking of another place.
Who’s here after the emergency landing of the same jet?!
The tail number matches with the aircraft type! Cool!
Love when that happens, like N320US, N737JW, N190JB, N777AN, N772AN, RP-C7773, and more! Thanks! :)
Is this like their very first 777?
I just start to watch united airlines take off last seven months ago so I can't wait for my first time travel
Those engines remind me of the Rolls Royce engines on the old L-10ll's that had that amazing chainsaw sound. Today's aircraft are just so quiet. You don't get that thrill when the engines spool up. Oh for yesteryear!
This plane mighta made its final flight yesterday cause with it begin age 26 and with United having a third of their fleet on the ground it probably makes more sense to give N772UA it's walking papers.
Yeah, it's currently grounded after the incident that happened a few months ago
Great one! I actually never seen a 777 fly from Portland to Seattle! Anyways nice video! :)
damn, that's a beauty
When you hear the PW4077 spool you know your going to Hawaii!
Or you won't make it cause the right engine broke apart.
@@acegarcia3719 😂😂😂😂
9:35 that famous sound!
Ah yes, none other than the mighty jackpot plane! 🎰 I Love it! 🤩
great video looks fantastic thanks for sharing your view on this plane
Thanks! :)
#2372 how exciting, I am actually flying on this fleet # friday morning.
Beautiful take off and visible smoke i ever seen
Thanks! :)
+planesguy 😊 pleasure
@@ethancampbell6076 and what's so beautiful about visible smoke??
Love United Airlines
Great video, and nice sound! Thanks fo this one.
Thanks! She was diverted from Seattle because of weather.
P&W 4000 sounds great 👍🏻 (underrated by avgeeks)
Fantastic video, great catch! Liked :)
Can't wait to catch a video like this of the 777-900..
Thanks! :)
good sound and take off
was this in for a sports event or something? Thanks for the close-up on the reg#.
i love planes but since covid i never got on one
Great job!
That exact plane diverted to Epply Airfield in Omaha Nebraska 2 days ago.
Sorry to break it to you but it was a Boeing 757.
This engine is getting starting to get quite old. No wonder Pratt keeps having problems with it.
It's funny. My friend was on a flight sfo to nrt and because it was a day after asiana 214, both big runways were closed so the 777 was empty and flew an hour to sea, refueled, and went to nrt
this plane suffered a engine failure on 20th feb 2021.
VEEEEEERY RARE FOOTAGE OF THIS PLANE 8 years ago
Pratt and Whitney engines nice
I prefer GE. Thanks! :)
I think they are Rolse Royse
@@armaankapadia3567 It's not Trent 800, United wasn't interested in having their 777's powered by it, instead powered by both PW4000 & GE-90 94B
PW is my favorite, then RR, and lastly GE
Armaan Kapadia PW4077
Who is here after this plane lost an engine and had to divert to Denver?
me
Like the Boeing 777-200:).
Me too! Thanks! :)
nice catch man
Thanks! :)
This won’t age well
And now we have a 747 and 737 with similer engine failures after the 777
That 777 is one gorgeous plane!! Great catch!! Hey, do you know where this flight was coming in from?
It came in from NRT. Thanks! :)
why would they divert the aircraft due to fog? that's why auto approach exists. it's there for situations like this
If the fog is bad enough auto land is not enough. Thanks! :)
Its funny this same plane due to its registration had the engine explode last week
Seriously! Send me link!
@@n0clu318 ok

Thanks! :)
Great catch! Subscribing!
Nice! I like 777-200 United And 737
Thanks! :)
Flew on one of these from SFO to Honolulu....I wonder why she was diverted? Any back story?
PW4077 series
Thanks! :)
Crazy to think that I flew on this bird 6 years later IAH-sfo
Awesome! Thanks! :)
Nice video
Awesome video!
Thanks! :)
Nice catch!
Thanks! :)
The registration is it’s plane type 772 lol!
Yep it's like that because it was their first 772
I love this video!!!!
lol there's the plane i missed. Nice vid!
Thanks! I really appreciate that!
Lovely Video! LIKED! I subscribed to you! Your channel is just amazing! :)
Thank you! :)
nope. NRT to SEA was diverted to PDX
Great Catch!!!!
Thanks! :)
United States FIFA World Cup 2022
Cool. Thanks!
Thanks! Yeah. She is beautiful!
is it just me or is the 772 looking a little too fine in that video
Nice
Fun fact
That aircraft had a engine failure in 2021
Thank You!
Guess I have to wait till SeaTac becomes foggy again.
Awesome video, but I'm a noob. Why is this rare? Is the 777-200 not being used as often anymore, or is it rare to see one at PDX?
rare at PDX
Always was disappointed I missed this
At least 2 years later another came! Thanks! :)
good sound!
Thanks! :)
Best sound ever😍😍
I was this diverted on the Tokyo-Seattle route? I think they canceled that route.
They have but this is from 2013. Thanks! :)
Thanks!
Cool, thank you.
Thanks! :)
Apparently. Thanks!
Thanks! Yeah you did (lol) but she will be back (hopefully)
Little did anybody know that the engine would burn off that 777😳
thanks
Beautiful perspective here. Where was this bird headed to?
KSEA. Thanks! :)
You bet. Wow, short flight for a triple 7. Thanks!
Nice Video! So why was this aircraft at PDX?
Diverted from SEA due to fog. Thanks! :)
+planesguy We've got plenty of freezing fog in SEA right now... maybe you'll see him again!
It has been repaired and is grounded
Hey isn't this the plane that had an engine explosion
Yeah
@@RocketAnthem well then if it is they should get it back running soon
thanks!
Awesome
Thanks! :)
I hope United gets some fresh new 300ER's next year or some of the 777x :D and I also have one question, does the United 777-200 have GE 90's or something different? Because I don't really know if the 200's have GE 90's
The ex Continental 772s have GE90s, but the ones originally with United (like this one) have PWs. Thanks! :)
+planesguy why not some big plane don't have 4 engines? I saw my airplane in my game
I been to PDX :D
+Andy Fonseca 2 engines is more fuel efficient than 4 (and half the maintenance cost too).
The 777-200ER/200 both are rarely operated with GE90's.
The GE90 is mostly equipped on the 77W and 777-200LR
Top Aircraft
Yep. Thanks!
Thanks! :)
