I like the new design, the clean unbloated approach that focuses on playing local content and nothing less, no ads (like the stupid Spotify ad in grove…) The only thing I don’t like is the color of the play button , it’s to dominat to be always there , could work as a hover effect.
I understand your opinion, I am just surprised to see Groove Music gets redesigned since I am expecting for the app to also get redesigned like the Paint App since 2 months ago.
@Nathaniel Walker I have never had an issue with Groove splitting albums. There again I use mp3tag to ensure that the metadata is correct before adding to to my library.
And lost not a single solitary feature in the redesign (I upgraded from Groove Music). It plays all my files, my playlists - and it STILL supports OneDrive playback - which I was worried I would lose. And the absotive posilute shocker: it even works on unsupported hardware. (I have 11 Pro for Workstations running on a G3258 with 8 GB of RAM.) The ONLY feature I have not gotten up and running so far is Windows Subsystem for Android.
I switched from Mac after seeing the clean aesthetic of Windows 11. Mac imho has become so cluttered. My first Windows machine I just received in the mail is the Surface Laptop 4 got the Intel i7 16gbs of ram. So happy with this machine although it came preinstalled with Windows 10

That's pretty cool it's like a redesign of the old media player and groove. 👌They need to add translucancy effect to the see-through parts of the player though to match the Windows 11 desing better.
Yeah it just missing Mica effect that Windows 11 uses. It already uses updated WinUI controls. Practically it is still Groove Music but reskinned with Video playback built-in. If they plan to replace old Media Player, they should at least add device sync and CD burning feature. Which is the two big things that old Media Player has.

Edit information doesn't allow you to change the artiest foto or add an artist foto or album cover. You only get a lot of anonymus files in your playlist
i think URL streaming feature is so sick. as i know groove music supported URL streaming but then was removed. anyway awsome. 4:54 oh media player supports instagram cool

I wish Microsoft windows team just adds an option to toggle on and off dark/light mode in action center instead of digging into the settings to turn it on. they should also add the option of auto turn on by time. anyways nice video
I guess the big question for music playback is... Does it recognize replaygain tags? Not having replaygain support in a music player is a deal breaker for me.
@@metinhesenov Replaygain is for normalization. You need software that can calculate the perceived volume of the audio files and add tags for how much volume adjustment is necessary and playback software that will recognize the tags and adjust audio output while playing back the files.
I like the way windows media player looks big box with picture of albums and names eg but it keeps crashing will take a while to get used to this hope they add the wow effect aswell

But I want to make the Artist as the most left column. In the older version of the Windows Media Player, i think we can adjust the columns by just click and l drag the header of the columns. Thanks.

It loses NO features from Groove Music - I upgraded from it, in fact. It even supports playback from OneDrive - the one feature I was scared I would lose! (Why OneDrive support is critical: OneDrive is my media cloud - the one terabyte of storage is mostly audio and video.) Groove Music is my Android media player entirely due to that feature - yes, on Android 12. But by writing this, I hope that this gets ported to Android as well - as Groove was.
Yeah the old one still have way more features, it is just outdated looking UI. That is when really Windows Media Player peaked. Well this redesigned Groove Music could match that at least if they add CD burning and device syncing feature. Even video library function of old WMP were also bit more powerful than this new one which looks rather just have basic video browsing.
@@TwelveLetter956 I really doubt it. The new Media Player is basically Groove Music but with new WinUI that follows Fluent Design of Windows 11. And added video playback with some UI tweaks. It is too close to Groove Music to be started from scratch. And there is no reason for them to start from scratch when existing one is working well as an audio player.

Any time I try to shuffle tracks it sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, it's completely random to the point that is started to bug me a lot. I hope this is fixed in Windows 11 or idk whats going on I have a relatively fresh install of windows 10 and it's been happening since day one.

I noticed in the video when he was playing a video and clicked the subtitle button, there was an audio option below subtitles as well which most likely refers to multiple audio tracks in a file. Pretty important for me as a VLC user for a long time, it's quite an important feature. Also, I hope it has a sound mode, like stereo, mono, headphones, which VLC has already. I prefer stereo mode a lot over headphones so I always switch to it in VLC. Curious to see if that option has been provided here.
Finally...a single app for playing music & video files that's stored locally. With somewhat nice ui.
Just like legacy windows media player.
But we already have Movies & TV on Windows 10, which did the same.
