Good video, but a few small corrections:
6:15 - Vampires cannot be killed with vervain, only greatly weakened.
8:11 - It appears that not all hybrids can cure wolf bites, only the original hybrids (ie Klaus and Hope).
9:45 - The white oak ash daggers don't contain the ash but must be dipped in a phial of the ash in order to work.
And this isn't so much a correction as something that I felt needed to be mentioned: Originals also have a much greater abilities than lesser vampires. They cannot be killed by normal methods like sunlight, decapitation, fire or regular stakes like other vampires can. They can only be killed by the white oak stake or extremely powerful magic. Their compulsion is also greatly enhanced, allowing them to compel lesser vampires and not only humans. Their strength and speed are also boosted compared to regular vampires (not solely due to their age, although as the oldest vampires that's yet another boost on top of it). A regular vampire can gain more power as they age but they can never ascend to this level of immortality or power, no matter their age. As such, the originals are essentially a different, superior race of vampires and regular vampires are essentially just a lesser offshoot of them.

ye it reminds me of like vampyr or the castlevania games were many immortal races classify as vampires but 1 or 2 branches are largely superior to every other branch of immortals
Also, the spell they used was a bastardization of the spell Qetsiyah used for Silas. That's why Silas still has his which powers and has to drink blood the old fashioned way without fangs. Michael made her add advantages over the wherewolves and that's where the other weaknesses came in. Their compulsion, even though it is more powerful than other vampires, is still a pale comparison of what Silas can actually do.
The originals have been killed by humans and other young vampires they are superior but they aren’t a different race all together

TVD vampires are, by far, the most idylic kind of bloodsuckers, they still got their soul, inmortals, powerful and fast, they still can have sex, grow their hair and change their appearance while the time passes, also have the power of mind controlling and the sun still burns them but, if they are lucky, they can make a deal with a witch to make them a solar ring. so by FAR the most idylic kind. (TVD is one of my favourite tv show in a long time)
Definitely some of the best vampires, especially if you have one of those rings

Yeah i like how the way their bodies work is consistant and makes sense unlike those from the Buffyverse and from Twilight . Their body function like an human one except for the healing and the age part as long as they consume blood on the regular. Meaning that they can eat normal food, drink and get drunk, have a boner and have sex, swet and breath, and everything in between. They are my favorite vampires.

I personally liked the originals more than tvd, but the lore and the vampire mythology is really overlooked due to be a YA show and the association with twilight. You should cover games about vampires too in the future, like the witcher or the elder scrolls, as always great video.

DEFINITELY want to see the hybrid/werewolves video! Klaus's story is awesome! I'd love to see you breakdown the difference between him and his siblings!
In the books the Originals are not just the original vampires, Klaus was the only one original Vampire but he belongs in this group of Original monsters/creatures of sorts.
ehmmm.... not really, klaus was one of the many original vampires even in the book, others names were solomon, seline/celine(?), Davos etc.... Klaus isn't the only og vampire, but not all original vampires were a family like in the show, in the books there is a backstory that there were hundreds of them, most of them were killed by.... Angels :D and Elena was a descendant of angels(maybe thats why I take it as an obvious hint when they call her an angel in the show) so her blood was toxic to originals, thats how they killed klaus and many others.

You forgot about witch-vampire hybrids. They can siphon the magic from both their own vampire existence to do magic and werewolf bites to cure themselves.
In this lore, I always found it ironic that the intent of The Original Witch was to make her children safe from Werewolves, but Werewolf bites kill vampires...

@Fang Plays but it still poisons them and makes them hallucinate. You can tell this went through a few rewrites but yeah that's a really weird thing.
Nature's balance: for every strenght a vampire has, they have equal vulnerabilities. Nature made it that tranformed werewolves were more than a match for them and their bite is fatal to non-original vampires. Anything that can kill a regular vampire only weakens an Original. So, werewolf vemon would only weaken an Original instead of killing them.

The Originals can’t die from Sunlight, Vervain, decapitation, werewolf venom or fire. Although they are still not immune to them completely but the only thing capable of killing an original is white oak tree. Correct me if I am wrong.
They can also die if Marcel bites them since he isn't just a regular vampire any longer due to the serum made in the originals. Also Klaus' blood & Hope's blood can cure a werewolf bite, like Marcel's blood heals his bite

I want to be honest, as a great fan of The Vampire Diaries, the first 3 seasons are absolutely fantastic but after that shit goes downhill. The Originals has way higher highs and not as low lows, id say TO Is the better show. Ignore Legacies existence its a desgusting abomination

The blood of a Hybrid can't cure a werewolf bite. The only blood that can cure a werewolf bite is that of Klaus (the Original Hybrid) and Hope (Daughter of the Original Hybrid).
And it's only 2 hybrid

I was really into the romance stuff in the show when I was younger but as I got older I really fell for the lore and the characters powers.
It gets inconsistent like a lot of shows from the CW tend to do but overall I adore The Originals and The Vampire Diaries and although I find Legacies to be rather silly there's parts of that series I like too.
yeah, I rewatched it and straight up skipped the parts where Elena, Stefan and Damon were talking about romance. lol, I already know how it goes so I prefer to just watch the parts that advance the plot and the action scenes.
I like Danielle Rose Russell as Hope. I watch Legacies just for her. And am catching up on the Originals, as season 5 is where she takes over the role of Hope.
Yes, whilst Legacies is more fluffy, its expansion of the lore is in my opinion, something I've been craving. TVD was obviously created to draw in the Twilight crowd, and they scrapped the vast mythology of the books but they still managed to create such amazing lore. It deserved to receive an eventual expansion into other creatures, even hell was eventually just tied down to the predecessors of witches. Things like the Gods, and whilst the monster storyline hasn't always been perfect it did gave us a couple of amazing episodes too. Even the Necromancer, who the audience despises, was responsible for emotional episodes like S1's Mombie Dearest. There's good things, and bad things.

Out of all supernatural shows I have watched, Tvd has the deepest and most intricate mythology
Everything comes full circle,
The origin stories of creatures or items(for eg, the cure) and mythology is top notch
No show can recreate such an intricate mythology ever again

Nah I like supernatural better than TVD. But the mythology in TVD/originals is much more intricate. In supernatural everything just went in natural order. Monsters- MOM. Then you have demons - 4H- tablet- Lucifer's kids- Lucifer. Then you have angels - arch angels - leviathan - God - God sister. Death then emptiness
But the tvd universe everything is connected or happened due to some thing else occuring. Witches are mostly responsible for most things, but they aren't all connected to one witch. They had an indirect effect with Cade and he was a powerful psychic. In-between that is Malivore etc.
@@breezyphontain9686 Exactly, and even the Gods themselves are connected to everyone by being the progenitors of magic. My theory is that they also established the various laws of nature TVD and TO talk about considering they're responsible for magic. Like the whole reason Esther's spell had its consequences of the vervain, white oak and the sun burning her children, that could actually be literal divine punishment. Even when the show introduces something new, they easily find a way to connect it into the already established lore, and that is the genius of this show's universe.
In the TVD books, there's this entity that works like magic. This is what Damon uses to transform into the crow and make fogs
I love TVD. I'm actually rewatching it right now. The lore is incredible. With that being said, do a little more research. Also, I enjoy your channel so far. Keep up the good work.

Does anyone else think that the vampires from each sireline get partial traits of the original they descend from ?
Stefan and Damon are from Klaus. Over TVD they come up with many strategies and plans (just like Klaus, who is a strategic genius), one of which was the closest anyone ever came to killing Klaus. Same thing with Lucian, Klaus' first sired. And even tho it might just be for plot reasons we see all of them being capable of great brutality and betrayal to achieve their plans.
Tristan (Original series) has a taste for the high-class life, just like Elijah. Both of them also have more of an elitist point of view on other vampires. Suits, houses, and words (almost Shakespearean phrases) they use all match. Even tho Tristan was a nobleman, even their moves look like ( iconic handkerchief pullout)
Rebekah's first sired was Aurora. We don't know much about her personality as a human, but as a vampire she mostly wants to find love and happiness (her own crazy version of it anyway), and when she doesn't get what she wants she's prone to fits of rage and turns into a vengeful mean girl. And that sounds a lot like Rebekah.
This theory might explain why the fangs are different too.
That's an interesting theory. I've never heard of this! I wish we got more examples to see if this works or not. Like we never got to know any vampire from Kol's line as far as we know. (There are some vampire characters with unidentifiable origins like Lexi, Josh, and MG) Finn was also lacking in distinct personality traits that could help differentiate him from his siblings, unless we count "boring".
Edit: Josh is probably from Klaus' sireline. Davina certainly seemed to think so.

Though I don't remember when the show said it was Marcel himself, we do know that it was at least *someone* from Marcel's group because the blood that turned him was from the Vamp Buffet parties that Marcel liked to organize.
I initially put him in unknown because I was working under the assumption that we don't know if Marcel sired all of "his guys". But your comment made me remember that Davina's reasoning for unlinking Klaus' sireline was her worry for Marcel AND JOSH.
@@scarletbailey6086So I stumbled onto this video again, and saw my last comment was still at the top... and because I was bored I did a quick Google search.
Turns out the only vampire who is confirmed to be turned by Finn directly is Sage around the 1100s, (his first Sire actually) she was Damon's "mentor" in 1912 (like Lexi was to Stefan), and from the few episodes we see she believes life is meant to be lived to the fullest, and even though Finn didn't like being a vampire, he also didn't shy away from the luxuries when we see him in TVD.
As for Kol I couldn't find anything, partly because of his first death in TVD (that dude dies A LOT) which as we know wiped out his sire line, but I would believe they would have more of a berserker personality.
Clarification, only Niklaus' and now his daughter Hope's blood can heal werewolf/hybrid bites on vampires. Not just any hybrid can heal a werewolf/hybrid bite.
Definitely want see videos about the werewolves and hybrids.

Loved the video. The TVD Universe is my favorite vampire mythology. People overlook it because of the CW teen drama stigma, but it's lowkey one of the best live action vampire universes. TVD is a good YA coming of age story while The Originals is a great modern gothic tale.

They don’t lose the ability to turn off their emotions. They just don’t do it because they realize that it’s not even worth it, they cant escape from the pain even if they turned it off they will still eventually have to turn it back on. Also it’s not a curse even Rebekah said it was gift to protect them
The other interesting thing is how they have the whole cant enter a dwelling unless they are invited in or the owner is dead, which was an older vampire troupe you dont see much anymore
These Vampires are awesome, especially the Original Vampires. The fact they can create their own Vampiric bloodline which is tied to their life is interesting
Damon might’ve been the naturally coldest vampire out there. And he spent 400 years in that realm with Bonnie. He really a monster and I sometimes I don’t even think ripper Stefan can beat a serious Damon
Damon may just be one of the most dangerous and cunning of all vampires, next to Klaus himself. Yet once he realized and embraced his love for Elena, Damon became one of the greatest characters of the entire series. He asked for forgiveness for what he had done over the years, he had true remorse and sought repentance, and in the end he found true redemption as we all can with repentance through our Savior Jesus Christ Who died for the sins of the world.
Damon became one of the most honorable of all of vampires after previously being the most despised next to Klaus.
My favorite vampire show and series of all time. 1000x Better than Twilight, and I read all those books (which were way better than the films) and saw all the movies numerous times. This show, The Vampire Diaries, is far superior.

Some things are wrong about this. Like you don’t die you desiccate without dying. Also in the shows we don’t know for sure if a original dies from heart rip because an upgraded original cannot and from head decapitation because they don’t die from burning in sun light, they rise in the ash. But just giving tips!! Great video keep up the work

Klaus in the books is over 6000 years old. He was never human and battled Heaven for thousands of years. That's where Lucifer and Klaus met and and that's when Klaus had Lucifer-Like powers. Elena's Angelic powers weren't even enough to defeat him as when she blasted her full power onto Klaus, he stood right back up laughing. He made an Angel, Andres cry. And the only reason why he died was because he licked Elena's blood when taunting her not knowing it could kill him. He is super powerful and the Embodiment of Evil. He blew up an entire plant house station a hundred miles away with a thought and for fun. He can turn into Darkness and summon Lightning + other haxxes His a DarkGod, a different breed

i actually did a vid like this on my channel too. almost the same thing, just not only about tvd/originals/legacies vamps. but i did mention them and say alot of the same things, yet i liked and learned even more about THIS species of vamps.. and this is coming from a GUY that liked and watched EVERY EPISODE OF EVERY SEASON of this show and its spin-offs. lol so..good job and good work!👍

The vampire diaries, vampires are probably my favorite out of all the vampires.
I had resisted and resisted watching TVD for I don’t know how long, but became a huge fan of The Originals when it started…so I gave up the fight against Diaries and binged the whole damn thing. Entertaining AF, I loved it.
I love the originals more imo but they’re both really good still watch them over and over to this day. Oh and btw only the blood of the original hybrid can cure a wolf bite not just any hybrid can, I Love this vid tho I’ve been waiting for you to cover TVD/TO nice job!

Will you be doing Witches and Magic from TVD next?? Also, I don't recall their being a magical OBJECT called a siphon but you may be referring to Siphoners which are a rare kind of Witch. They don't possess magic of their own but they can draw it from other sources in order to use spells. But this does allow them to siphon from vampires as vampires are the products of magic. Also, you may even delve into the Heretics who were Witch/Vampires hybrids. They were siphoners who became vampires and found that they could siphon themselves as a constant source of magic.

I’ve watched this series. One thing that really makes me mad is with the originals they’re always talking about nothing can kill them(except for white oak steak) their bodies are literally invincible Damon tried setting them on fire and nothing happens but yet sunlight possibly can? It’s never stated that it can yet they need rings and shows in flash back it can harm them..
Yet none of the Scooby gang ever ever mention using sunlight to kill them. Pisses me off a lot and doesn’t make any sense.
Awesome video but there is something most people don't know... Vampires don't like swimming or water in general for some reason.

great video but 6:55 is not true. They will go into a mummy sleep kind of phase but can be awoken again with blood. That's what happened to those stuck in the tomb who have not had blood for centries
I’m rewatching The Vampire Diaries. I’m on season 6 now. It’s funny that I was almost 27 when the show started and when it end I was 34 1/2 when it ended. That’s besides the point. I really do miss the show. Plus Ian Somerhalder is from the same state that I’m from.

ok i have stoped the series after a few seasons, but i have no idea were you got that vampires are weak to fire! the only times they easily burst into flames is by magic or if they are in sunlight for more than a few seconds. normal heat and fire didnt seem to affect them any more or less than a regular human. the fact that it can kill them for good is the only diffrence.

Even though there may not be Vampires in this show specifically- do you think covering the old show Being Human would be possible? It was a SyFy channel show about a Vampire, Werewolf and Ghost roommates
Vampires can't actually be killed with vervain in these two series. They can be drugged with it and knocked unconscious. They can be submerged in it and it will burn their skin like acid and put their bodies into shock but it WON'T kill them. Vervain is mainly used as either a way to block compulsion or as a deterrent akin to a cattle prod or electric fence. Vampires also can go indefinitely without blood. Hell, the major plot of the first season was freeing vampires from a tomb that had been sealed in there for over a century. They act like water bears when deprived of blood and simply desiccate into a mummy and go catatonic. It is said to be maddingly painful and take YEARS to complete but they bounce right back after even a few pints of blood.
Small note the white oak ash daggers only work after being dipped in white oak ash and then after its removed from an original it must be rebonded with ash for it to work again and it can only be weilded by non vampires or originals if it is used by a ordinary vampire it kills them
The originals was really good. Vamp diaries was okay. Legacy is okay too. Man you didn’t really explain the hybrids or the one tribrid though. Interesting stuff.

I think next to the video game Vampyr these are some of my favorite vampires, supernatural also has some cool vampires but those are less based on magic and witchcraft despite witches being in the show

Klaus is a fucking beast in the show. I never watched the entire thing, but my mom loves all three of the shows and watched them all multiple times, so I've seen a bit of them.
It's said that only Klaus and Hope can cure werewolf bites, not just any hybrid yet an inconsistency is when Hayley - a hybrid - cured Cami's werewolf bite when they used her as bait to capture Finn (who was in Vincent's body) in season two of The Originals.

I was never fan of vampires and found them to suck but suprisingly TVD actually got me invested in vampires and thought it would be cool to be one. They made their powers and abilities to be really awesome.
Same with me , I use to like vampires but as I got older I found myself getting more invested with werewolves.

The Originals is my favorite on screen vampires. One minor thing though, you said vampirism makes cancer grow more rapidly but what actually was stated in the show is that vampire blood couldn't cure cancer but Damon said he could turn Liz she just didn't want to become a vampire
I've always liked the way people have done their own spin on vampires such as fright night and lost boys where it looks like demonic, or viruses like the strain and underworld, I've always been drawn to The Vampire Diaries and Originals style of vampires because it's more of a curse than a virus or being demonic its said several times in the show that vampires are mystical. For example heretics are siphonors and could use there vampirism as a reservoir for magic because they are supernatural.

Sunlight doesn't kill an Original or if it does it takes longer than the time it is out to do so (Still sets them on fire and hurts them)
You forgot to mention an Original can compel other Vampires and if a Vampire used those daggers on an Original they would die themselves.
It's also practically impossible to rip out the heart or decapitate an Original because they are physically indestructible and it would take significantly powerful magic to kill them - magic that is beyond 90% of witches that have ever existed.
Vampires in TVD and Originals are awesome. The werewolves are great too.
Not a TVD fan, but The Originals got me hooked from episode 1.

My Vampire Version:
-Vampirism would be a RetroVirus that changes your DNA
-after consuming/injecting Vampire Blood, you need 1 year for all mutations to occur(no need to die)
-you get stronger, faster, jump higher, and heal extremely fast, you can even glue the severed limb back together
-you are immune to all diseases including cancer(unlike the series)
-you age slowly, for example in 10 years you age 1 year, in 100 years you age 10 years, in 1000 you age 100 years
-you can have sex but you will never have children
-if you Bite someone, that person will be Hypotised for 3 hours, thanks to the Neurotoxin their in fangs, they won't remember anything before and after the Bite.
-you won't have any of the Classic WeakNess(Not Even The Sun), the only way to Kill you is to destroy your body to the bone or rip your head
-you can only go 2 weeks without eating normal food, 10 minutes without Oxygen, and you don't need Water because it's in your Blood, and if you don't drink it in 2 days, you'll get Rabid, in 3 days you'll go into Hibernation untill someone shows up to you Kill
-when you reveal your real face, it will be just like the series, the withes of your eyes will turn Red, and fangs will grow, but you will have a lot more veins on your face
-Finally The Best Skill, your body will produce pheromones that attract the opposite sex, as if you were the most beautiful of all.
You should do vampires on The strain series
