    I totally agree with the methodologies you enumerated here and 3-5 are sort of staples of my training. But there are tons of other "techniques" you could hypothetically utilize to break through plateaus. Tempo training for one. I think half-reps or one-and-a-half-reps training could probably help, too. Plyometric training can help. Learning proper breathing and tensing can contribute. And more.

    Great show! I’ve tried multiple different diets and workout regiments with no success. I recently started lifting weights with just a pair of dumbells at home and/or doing push-ups everyday. I noticed more gains with just 15-20 workouts than when I used to go to the gym. I stopped going to the gym when I hurt my knee doing squats and changed jobs. Now i just workout at home while the kids eat breakfast or once they go to bed. Googling info about diet, I came across your show. Right before I your show I was about to try a very low calorie diet to lose weight. I’m glad I didn’t go with a low calorie diet but went with eating a high protein clean diet and meal prepping. I’m down 16 pounds since January and stronger than ever. I haven’t tried your programs yet but will probably start with maps 15 or anabolic.

    I just want to say I have been listening to you guys for months. You all totally changed my life. I have been back in the gym since January trying to lose my covid weight. I used to do everything I shouldn't do, like mad cardio. Now I do the least to gain the most, as Adam has mentioned in the past. I do weight/resistance training 3 times a week. I don't have body dysmorphia anymore. I never weigh myself. I just workout to get stronger in hopes to change my body comp. I honestly thought I could see change in my body, but I also thought maybe I was delusional, as I wasn't getting any comments from anyone else. Finally staff at the gym have mentioned how good I look as well as family. Man, so many positive things I can say about you all and the knowledge you have filled me with. I tell everyone about your show and share the content I have learned with others too. So from the bottom of my heart, I thank you all for sharing your knowledge and wisdom freely with us all. But the biggest take away.. Thank you for teaching me patience and persistence!! I wish I could give you all a big Italian hug and kiss! Truly!

    Always the best tips from these intelligent and experienced trainers! The main three of these tips from them that I incorporated to surpass my 6 year plateau was focusing on my sleep, stabilizer muscles (through prime and prime pro) and trying exercises I was terrible at. Ever since I started ACTUALLY doing what these guys say I’ve seen drastic change! Thank you Mind Pump!🫡

    A fairly new listener (January 2023) and been trying to listen to an episode everyday to try and catch up. In the short time I have been a fan, I have already changed one of the biggest hurdle and mindset in my health journey, I now learned to exercise because I love my body (this body that has been through 2 operations and countless ER and ICU visits due to previous ailments) and I now call it my health journey and not constantly chasing after fat loss. Also, I love love the rapport and the heckling among the guys, listening to the guys heckle each other constantly remind me of my 3 older and bigger brothers ( all of which tower over me, 5'10 to 6'2 while their only sister is only 5 '1). Thank you guys.

    5:00 i was actually able to avoid gaining much weight in my mid 20s when i was doing advanced calisthenics, and i didnt eat enough protein to put on muscle. I'd have a protein shake after my workout, but didnt really program a diet to gain weight. I wanted to get where i wanted to be with calisthenics before gaining weight, so i got to where i could do a 1 arm pull up at about 135. 10 years later, im training for competitive armwrestling, and got up to 176, walking around 160-165. I actually was able to train harder 10 years ago cuz i went a few years where i barely trained and my consistency and intensity just hasnt been the same, but i was able to put on weight by ensuring i was eating a lot of protein, and i tried to make sure my diet was mostly clean. My goal is to be 180-185 walking around and cut to 176 for competition, but we'll see.

Pausing with the weight towards the bottom while still under tension and getting more used to explosive pushing movements is novel to my body and I feel it is a game changer overall. Also I think the combination of ashwaganda ksm-66 and creatine has been helping me. Only started those because of research and you guys. Thank you gentlemen. Another great session. Strength at 54yo, for me, has been an exercise in patience...pun intended 😁. I never really took things seriously until my late 40s but it seems that I had done enough over my lifetime to get in shape with a reasonable amount of focus and consistency. It feels like I have plateaus on every lift now but I feel like this is just what happens after you reach your genetic limits (225lbs, 5'10",~12%bf). Using your advice, I look to volume as a way to progressively overload because adding weight to the bar is something I have to be really careful with.

    Strength gains does not keep rising indefinitely. Areas I look at is can I get another rep or 2. Am I able to lift the same fatigued as I'm fresh. We can all get our max when fresh but when fatigued how much can we lift. The smaller the drop I'm gaining strength even if the number can't go up. World's strongest man can lift a car but they can't lift 2. So it comes down to how can lift the most times.

So when I eat, it's about an hour and 15 minutes before I go to sleep. Maybe I will need to find some way to eat my final meal while still at work... 🤔

    • @wrightwoodwork
      @wrightwoodwork Год назад +1

      A trick you can do is load the bar with more weight than you can do unrack but don't squat then re rack lighten the load to what you can do. It gets your body used to a heavier weight. Then as the weight of your squats that you can do rises in reps. Over a week or 2 to your max rep range. Then try doing a heavier squat. If it doesn't feel safe don't do. You are trying to make the body feel safe. So by simply taking a weight heavier than the body is used to help the body to get used to that weight
