  • The first fragrance from his "Private Blends I have reviewed. It's kinda cool! It's a representation of an almost pure sandalwood to my nose, subtle and powdery but, watch the vid and see what you think!
    Head over to Notino to buy it if ya like... click here..

    Great review, sandal blush has been my go to fragrance for almost a year and you describe it very well. When I smell sandal blush I literally am transported to ancient Persia or Egypt. It is very sophisticated, but yet soft and creamy like you said.

    As someone from a Middle Eastern culture, I know a lot about spices because we use them a lot in cooking, obviously, and I do not think that cumin should be in any fragrance even the slightest. The smell of cumin mimics bad body odour, and it ruins fragrances. If it is used prominently in a fragrance, it kills it, and if it is used so delicately, better not include it at all. It did not add anything bad, it will definitely not add anything good to the fragrance, Thank you for this review, but I will stay miles away from this scent. Sorry Tom Ford!

      +Waha Sawas I totally agree with cumin can be very scary in fragrances, thankfully in this the sandalwood is prominent enough to not let it get out of control. It's definitely noticeable in the opening though. :) Thanks for the comment!

      Waha Sawas i have it and it smells really good. Since it is expensive I had several samples to make sure it smells good on me.

      Haha.. imagine using garlic in fragrance.. agree idk why cumin is used.

      @@allegri9cl because u can only use the same notes and ingredients so many times, they are trying to create something unique.

    I love sandalwood but I don’t get any of the ingredients. Maybe it’s been reformulated. I wanted to love this one but it’s so watered down and weak. And I agree with u, anyone can wear whatever they want. I own many so called men’s Fragrances. I love them most .

    I don’t get how they could market it to women, it’s sandalwood. And sandalwood is unisex . I have a bottle but I don’t find it feminine at all. I use it for layering, on its own it’s too lite and weak, barely noticeable. My favorite sandalwood is Mysore.

    I wasn't quite sure on that one.. I only tested it out at the counter though! Which is funny because I love Sandalwood... I own Kilian Sacred Wood, which is just rich pure sandalwood which is meant to replicate mysore sandalwood with nothing else.. but this one just smelled a little off to me :/

      +FragranceView There is definitely a weirdness in the opening (that damn cumin) but like I said, thankfully the sandalwood is enough to overtake anything scary. I wouldn't buy this one though no way. Jasmin rouge will be my next one, not sure about that either it's way too simple. His signature like far surpasses any of the private blends I've smelled (with the exception maybe of tobacco vanille, gonna get myself a biiig bottle of that one). Hope you've been well Mr! I need to catch up on what everyone has been reviewing while I've been away.

    Santal Blush on my skin is very creamy and delicious. I like this milky warm sandalwood accent inside.

      +The Scent Stylist Yes, lots of creamy lactonic woodiness going on. It has some really beautiful facets. :)

    I need to test it, I adore Australian sandalwood. :)
    Cumin is a controversial note. I don't like it in my food, but it starts to grow on me in perfumes. My favorite 'food' spices in perfumes are cardamom and coriander. ;)
    There's a lot of cumin in new Rose Oud by Ives Rocher, but it doesn't smell bad at all. Have you tried it?
    Glad you are back. :)

      +Jazz Girl It certainly is! I haven't tried the Yves Rocher one you mention. I've only tried Vanille Noir (which wasn't very "noir" at all" and I also have "voile ambre" which I may review very soon. :)

    I dont get the curry scent at all! It is a really lovely sandalwood scent like pencil shavings dipped in sweet cream. It’s the kind of fragrance that would make you hug yourself.

    i love oud and sandalwood. does santal blush smells like the sandal wood in samsara?

    • @ouch110
      @ouch110  8 лет назад +1

      +Safia Maria It doesn't smell like the sandalwood in samsara to me at all. It's very creamy. The sandalwood in Samsara is Mysore Sandalwood from India (well, in vintage samsara anyway). It's richer and even MORE exotic. :)

    I can't understand why this is marketed to woman? For me it is in a barbershopy sandalwood vein (so for my connotations more on the masculine side), but objectivly perfectly unisex, maybe for a more mature, confident woman.

    • @ouch110
      @ouch110  6 лет назад

      To me it smells pretty much like pure sandalwood. :( Which to my nose is totally unisex so...go figure hehe. Thanks for the comment! :)
