they made a pact with the devil so they could go from being poor as hell to poor as hell. yeah that makes a lot of sense. people that make pacts with the devil usually become rich and famous, like pat roberts.

Na, more like they made a pack with the devil in order to not be enslaved as chattel. The implication being that the Godly thing for Haitians to do would have been to embrace being enslaved opposed to resisting enslavement.
Orwell warned of Pat's type. Nice try, though.

Haiti is punished for being the first black nation whose helped and thought many countries how to get their freedom such as Venezuela, Colombie, Peru, Honduras and many more. No French came and fought for the United States. Lafayette went and got my grand parents to fight in Savannah, Georgia. The recognition went to Lafayette, the French man, whom brought them to the United States. Through the years, Haiti is being punished for the liberation of many slaves around the world.

Haiti (French: Haïti; Haitian Creole: Ayiti), officially the Republic of Haiti (French: République d'Haïti; Haitian Creole: Repiblik Ayiti) and formerly called Hayti, is a sovereign state located on the island of Hispaniola in the Greater Antilles archipelago of the Caribbean Sea.
It occupies the western three-eighths of the island, which it shares with the Dominican Republic.
Haiti is 27,750 square kilometres (10,714 sq mi) in size and has an estimated 10.8 million people, making it the most populous country in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the second-most populous country in the Caribbean as a whole.
The region was originally inhabited by the indigenous Taíno people.
Spain discovered the island on 5 December 1492, during the first voyage of Christopher Columbus across the Atlantic.
When Columbus initially landed in Haiti, he had thought he had found India or Asia.
On Christmas Day 1492, Columbus' flagship the Santa Maria ran aground north of what is now Limonade.
As a consequence, Columbus ordered his men to salvage what they could from the ship, and he created the first European settlement in the Americas, naming it La Navidad after the day the ship was destroyed.
The island was named La Española and claimed by Spain, which ruled until the early 17th century.
Competing claims and settlements by the French led to the western portion of the island being ceded to France, which named it Saint-Domingue.
Sugarcane plantations, worked by slaves brought from Africa, were established by colonists.
In the midst of the French Revolution (1789-1799), slaves and free people of colour revolted in the Haitian Revolution (1791-1804), culminating in the abolition of slavery and the defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte's army at the Battle of Vertières.
Afterward, the sovereign nation of Haiti was established on 1 January 1804 - the first independent nation of Latin America and the Caribbean, the second republic in the Americas, the only nation in the western hemisphere to have defeated three European great powers (France, Spain, and the UK), and the only nation in the world established as a result of a successful slave revolt.
The rebellion that began in 1791 was led by a former slave and the first black general of the French Army, Toussaint Louverture, whose military genius and political acumen transformed an entire society of slaves into an independent country.
Upon his death in a prison in France, he was succeeded by his lieutenant, Jean-Jacques Dessalines, who declared Haiti's sovereignty and later became the first Emperor of Haiti, Jacques I.
The Haitian Revolution lasted just over a dozen years; and apart from Alexandre Pétion, the first President of the Republic, all the first leaders of government were former slaves.
The Citadelle Laferrière is the largest fortress in the Americas.
Henri Christophe - former slave and first king of Haiti, Henri I - built it to withstand a possible foreign attack.
It is a founding member of the United Nations, the Organization of American States (OAS), the Association of Caribbean States, and the International Francophonie Organisation.
In addition to CARICOM, it is a member of the International Monetary Fund, World Trade Organization, and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.
It has the lowest Human Development Index in the Americas.
Most recently, in February 2004, a coup d'état originating in the north of the country forced the resignation and exile of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide.
A provisional government took control with security provided by the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH).

Many reasons, After Haiti won independence from the French in 1804, they had to pay the French government millions to compensate the French plantation slave owners for their financial losses, this not only put the country in debt but they inherited a generation of illiterates since Haiti had to close all public schools to pay this debt, and the debt was paid making Haiti poor. They were alienated from international community and couldn't trade, had to self-sustain as an island. USA had slaves

Well said. Give God the glory! Mr. Mardy is a man with a lot of class. Pat Robertson needs to check the fruit he bears...it's pretty rotten!

The reality is, even factoring the early embargo and the war debt to France, Haiti has suffered from political instability since day one. Literally day one...coup d'etats over and over and over.
And because of this REALITY, people who rise to leadership are more interested in staying in power and stifling dissent than in any long term plans to govern and improve the country. Strong arm men rather than qualified competent leaders.
    that's the bottom line.

If anyone made a deal with a devil, it's Robertson. Why do tragedies like this happen to good people while people like Robertson sit in their mansions and think up crap stories of devils? Why can't a house fall on him and let good people live in peace? He's like a drunk bad mouthing their ex during their funeral.

In acts, a black man, if you believe Ethiopians are black, is converted and Ethipian tradition supports this story. Another story is, the message flew to India where St. Thomas was martyred. Pat Buchanan is, crazy. He may be a racist; I'm not sure. I am sure, that he is off the deep end.

Pat Robertson should be ashamed of himself for saying many of the things he does about these national tragedies. It really makes you wonder why he hasn't been pulled off the air by now.

Part 2: You will notice, I keep emphasizing "white racists". Sadly, racist ignorance is not a "white thing" per se but a human thing. Obviously, in a white majority country, white racists cause more problems than other racists.

Sorry but Pat Robertson was absolutely accurate in what he said, and in this video, the spokesperson stumbles when he tries to claim there was no pact; because it is public knowledge! They yelled it at the time! its no derogatory thing that Pat said, and he isnt advocating slavery.
The speaker said God created all men equal, YES, this is the truth.
    But what Pat pointed out is historically correct;

OK, I never said that blacks where inferior to any race of people.
My views of Haiti comes from researching the history of Haiti, and looking at its present state not much change using the same methods hoping for a different result ,yes I consider that primitive. Conditions for blacks in America have only gotten better because black Americans chose to use their intellect to challenge oppressive laws and that shows a race of people intellectually capable of evolving for the better.

jiggz22 you are so right. Haiti has proved for years that they cannot govern themselves and that they hate democracy. Even if you read back to Haiti's colonial history to present, every president was either assasanited or forced from office by political coups and and angry haitian mobs

How can a public person insult with such a relaxed tone people who have seen true pain and have survived through that and still manage to live their lives in spite of all that has happened. Pat has entirely too much influence and it is silly of us to blame him. The people who should be blamed are his followers and those who believe in his madness and lunacy. No matter what religions say we should help our brothers and sisters when in need and stand united as actual human beings.
