My favorite pianist. Over the years I've listened to many different renditions of Beethoven sonatas, but I always go back to Gilels. It's tragic that he never got to finish the project due to his untimely death.
How very odd!! I made a comment about 2 hours ago and now it has disappeared!!! Anyway I will make another one and hope it stays this time. I have never heard Gilels play Rachmaninov before. I have many recordings of his but they are mostly Beethoven and Brahms. But I love this. It is incredibly beautiful. He takes a more intellectual approach than either Horowitz or Yunchan but I love the clarity and the generally more nuanced interpretation. Yunchan’s has the youthful exuberance and bravura whereas Gilels’ s is more cerebral and thoughtful. But I love them both in different ways. Thank you for the incredible sound. As always it is fantastic.
thx dear! to this video I (and not only me) have seen several visualizations and likes disappeared! Now you confirm also the comments... I know why, and the explanation doesn't belong to the MUSIC UNIVERSE... these era is so sad for humanity that simply shadow-ban certain contents that belongs to "certain" country... another confirmation of how stupid could certrain human beings be! (POLITICIANS and THEIR DIRECTIVES that I will never agree!). THX AGAIN!
