I always liked when he looked at the chrome-colored dummy in the clothing store-only later do we realize why he had a moment of confusion wondering if there was another prototype or at the very surprise at the appearance of something he likely never learned from SKYNET. 04:20
Its true, they were somewhat self aware in order to learn and adapt to human behavior in order to mimic it. Of course that runs the risk where the t1000 starts to FEEL human
This is true.. in Terminator comics they were self-aware and basically had freewill.. Skynet could not control them, the T-1000 was suppose to be like a new "skin" for the T-800s, but ended up self-aware.. The T-1000 we see in Terminator 2 is most likely fighting for Skynet and goes after Connor because he is choosing to, not because he is programmed to.. He doesn't actually have to kill John Connor if he doesn't want to. In the Sarah Connor Chronicles we are introduced to the T-1001 (Catherine Weaver) who has her own agenda.. She's not with the resistant but was building something to fight Skynet at the same time, but isn't John Connors enemy either..
They do have one glitch effect in the theatrical version. After the T1000 leaves the T800 jammed in the gear, he turns around and a wave glitch travels up to the top of his head. Now this wasn't a memetic glitch, like the rail or the floor, but a glitch nonetheless.
I think it was the right choice to omit the glitch. Leaving it out keeps the feeling of hopelessness going longer for the audience. The glitch foreshadows the T-1000's downfall a little too much. When writing a story, it's always best to keep the villian in a position of power over the protagonist until the last possible moment for maximum tension.
I liked the fact that they had the T-1000 make subtle but unmistakable indications that it possessed emotions -momentary surprise when it encountered the metal mannequin, anger when it figured out that the T-800 tricked it about Max the dog, sadism when he tortured Sarah and tried to get her to call to John (instead of just mimicking her voice)..... ......and displaying pure, undisguised terror when it realized that it was about to fall into the vat of molten metal.
I think that the T-1000 has the ability to mimic human emotion and expression so that it could blend in with humans and get around easier without arousing suspicion. But over time, it probably can develop genuine emotions of its own. My favorite part was the look on the T-1000's face when it reformed after being shattered and thawed, like it was making the death of John Conner and the destruction of the T-800 its personal priority.
@@Elly3981 I would agree with you, but remember that he made most of those emotive expressions when he was on his own. Heck, now that I think about it, you could even say that he was probably *annoyed* by the husband of John Connor's stepmom and that's why he killed him instead of simply leaving him be.
@@007Thanos007 Could be. He started with no real human emotions but developed some over time. It got to the point that his mission went beyond the orders given to him by Skynet. That being said, I think the T-1000 is somewhat capable of vanity as well. It can look like anything or anyone but chooses to appear as a handsome young policeman.
When Terminator 2 first came out, it was the most expensive movie of all time. Most of the cost was for the special effects. I'd say, with the movie still able to hold its own nearly 30 years later, that the cost was worth it!
The scene in the phychiatric hospital when Sara encounters the T-800 again after so many years, and then her son, and THEN the T-1000 is one of the greatest scenes in cinema history. Arnold throwing people by their faces, the melting through the bars, the beretta getting stuck and him needing to pull it through sideways. I've watched it well over a hundred times.
"Come with me if you want to live" but seriously T-1000 is the most terrifying terminator among the franchise imagine being chased by a non blinking liquid humanoid robot that can run really fast and regenerates...
@ungratefulmetalpansy they only shift into specific humans to get past human forces and kills them all in inside. Also becoming a wheel would be utterly useless. Edit:WATCH THE FULL VIDEO DUMBASS.
It’s a hell of a psychological weapon. With another person in the room you might be paranoid they are a T-800/850. With the T-1000 you have to be fearful of the very walls, floors and furniture
Hijiri Byakuren Funny thing, in the tv series, a doctor at the insane asylum describes the T-1000 as having a face of mercury, the other with a face of stone, the stone one stood over him, looked at Sarah. The doctor will never forget those words “come with me if you want to live”.
So many good things about this film, but just watching this brings back so many of them. I loved the way the T1000 presses through the bars, and then gets the gun stuck as if he's forgotten he's holding it. It's a great touch. Also, the strange look he gives the silver manikin . But, there's one there too which is much more subtle. Robert Patrick put in his firearm's training and worked to eliminate the 'flinch' reaction most people have when firing a gun, because a Terminator wouldn't do that. You can see it there at 4:48 perfectly. It's nuances like this that show a care for the details. So many films lack this.
Seeing the results, T-8xx series was clearly the most effective, more than every single other model. It defeated T-1000, T-X, and even the phase matter monstrosity. In T1 he even killed one of the main characters, an extremely dedicated, prepared and skilled soldier who destroyed dozens of various hunter-killer machines. It took almost dumb luck for Sarah to crush it with a press. There is a reason why T-X got endoskeleton back, after it was removed for T-1000. Endoskeletons rule.
I read on TVTropes that the T-1000 was so good at being a terminator, Skynet got scared of it and shelved the whole model. Skynet was afraid of killer robots like people were.
One of the greatest sci-fi movies of all time and a brilliant performance by Robert Patrick. I was so convinced of his near-indestructability that I kept expecting the character he subsequently played in the Sporanos to terminate Tony.
You might be focusing on the whole picture more than the individual parts. A lot of art teachers will make beginners turn their reference photo upside down and draw it that way just so they can focus on what the lines and shadows actually look like rather than what their brain thinks they should look like.
The music is especially good in the first movie. In the background of the chase scenes, the music that played would be comprised of various metallic clanging noises and it made the scenes very intense.
Just a correction, T1000 is actually heavier than the T800. Theres an interview with Robert Patrick where he states how James Cameron would describe the character whilst its fighting arnold. I think it was mentioned to be stronger also!
These videos make it abundantly clear that the main thing missing from Terminator movies after the first two is the background music. New terminator movies sound like generic action flicks Terminator 1 and 2 sounded scary
Say what you want people but i think i the T-1000 is amongst the most iconic terrifying movie villains not the stupid OP useless T-X (useless because a T-850 seemed more powerful). Also nice vid.👍
Lmao the T-850 didn't seem more powerful at all, she didn't care at all when they were fighting because the T-850 cannot do shit against her 1v1 combat, that's why she was jus tpushing him off like a ragdoll. And she was focused on John Connor almost the whole time
James Cameron is such a goddamn genius that even my mom likes his movies, and she generally despises sci-fi movies. I showed her Terminator 2, Aliens, and Avatar. Then she thought: "maybe I actually like sci-fi movies after all." She went on to watch other sci-fi movies and quickly came to realize nothing comes close to the quality of James Cameron.
They did so many amazing things in this movie. From the gloomy lighting in the psych ward to the lighting in Johns foster parents home, reminded me of my old childhood home. The mall arcade scene and scenes outside totally remind me of the LA atmosphere (obviously it was filmed there so). But even the scenery that takes place in Mexico looks like somewhere you'd find near a small rancho in the country. I remember watching this at a drive-in theater, it was a double feature showing with Congo.
The scary thing about T-1000 is that unlike all the other terminators (even that damn T-3000), is that it can perfectly blend in the environments, which makes it absolutely perfect for stealth operations. Hell if it wants it can just sneak into the human's resistence base and kill John Connor without anyone noticing.
One thing I noted in this great movie, is that we never see the world through the T-1000’s computer visual. Only the T-800. Would have been interesting to see.
No matter how many times I see this scene where the T-1000 comes through the cell door and runs past Dr. Silberman, I always expect the T-1000 to stab him quickly. LoL
When the T-1000 starts to uncontrollably mimic it's surrounding in the foundry it is a defense mechanism. In the expanded canon it is stated the when the T-1000 is damaged so thoroughly that it needs an extended amount of time to recover it will camouflage. This is to go unnoticed while it's nano-particles fix itself. Because the main directive of the T-1000 is the termination of John Connor it ignores it's need to heal because it is so close to finishing its mission.
@Meta Man In this situation yes. Because John Connor is so close it ignores it's directive to hide and repair itself. Say the T-1000 didn't know where Connor was it probably would've taken the time to heal and then proceeded with its mission.
This movie came out in what, 1991? I’m honestly still amazed at how well the effects for the T-100 hold up, especially after all this time. It would’ve been dope in Terminator 3 to have seen the T-1000 as the good guy and possibly teaming up with Arnold to defeat the next advanced terminator.
"Creation of the visual effects cost $5 million and took 35 people, including animators, computer scientists, technicians and artists, ten months to produce, for a total of 25 man-years. Despite the large amount of time spent, the CGI sequences only total five minutes of running time". And that's why it looks the way it does, even though it was produced so long ago.

@@Valleyraven007 "Look at me. I'm the boss now."
@@Eyrothath The fact they were learning AIs that Skynet had next to no control over is entirely why they got scrapped.
they should had the "giltch"effect left in the theatrical edition..... it shows it can be destroeyed
They do have one glitch effect in the theatrical version. After the T1000 leaves the T800 jammed in the gear, he turns around and a wave glitch travels up to the top of his head. Now this wasn't a memetic glitch, like the rail or the floor, but a glitch nonetheless.
If it glitches we can kill it
I think it was the right choice to omit the glitch. Leaving it out keeps the feeling of hopelessness going longer for the audience. The glitch foreshadows the T-1000's downfall a little too much. When writing a story, it's always best to keep the villian in a position of power over the protagonist until the last possible moment for maximum tension.
I never knew about the deleted scenes of the T-1000 damage. I really wish that would have been left in. Very cool detail.
So glad my dad fired me out of his nut sac in time to see these films when they were first released. Such a great franchise.
heyguyslol GAMING brilliant comment

Its great two movies with Jim behind the camera, as a franchise its horrible what they did to it.
Oh...
I’m commenting here so I can always come back to this. I will use that sentence at some point, mark my words.
Well here I go again to rewatch this movie for the thousandth time.
Me too!!!
Robert Patrick's T-1000 is one of the most terrifying villains of all time.
@@Elly3981
I would agree with you, but remember that he made most of those emotive expressions when he was on his own.
That T-1000 elevator scene is so satisfying, the part where the pointy thing melts into another thing...
ASMR
2:18 if I remember correctly they used the police guy's twin in this scene instead of the outdated technique of using different shots.
Yep, they were both in Gremlins 2 as well.
I believe they were in “Good morning,Vietnam” as well.
You mean the guard not police
Yea fam
@MrJoz08
Don't worry he'll be waiting for you in your dreams.
@ungratefulmetalpansy they only shift into specific humans to get past human forces and kills them all in inside. Also becoming a wheel would be utterly useless. Edit:WATCH THE FULL VIDEO DUMBASS.
Ehm t 600 looks like a zombie robot human
It’s a hell of a psychological weapon. With another person in the room you might be paranoid they are a T-800/850. With the T-1000 you have to be fearful of the very walls, floors and furniture
T1000 still remain one of the best villains in cinema history!
No doubt
Being able to see this is a kid with my dad is one of my most cherish memories
This movie is a masterpiece. A true spectacle.
Still holds up to this day. It makes even some current Movies look bad.

@@random_gamer_guy82 Nah... Those looked great. They were shitty movies, but the cgi and the designs were excellent.
Well duh
Thank you Skynet for giving us Mercury man
Hijiri Byakuren Funny thing, in the tv series, a doctor at the insane asylum describes the T-1000 as having a face of mercury, the other with a face of stone, the stone one stood over him, looked at Sarah.
The doctor will never forget those words “come with me if you want to live”.

Good job for the actor playing T-1000, he did a really amazing job
*Robert Patrick
So many good things about this film, but just watching this brings back so many of them.
I loved the way the T1000 presses through the bars, and then gets the gun stuck as if he's forgotten he's holding it. It's a great touch. Also, the strange look he gives the silver manikin .
But, there's one there too which is much more subtle. Robert Patrick put in his firearm's training and worked to eliminate the 'flinch' reaction most people have when firing a gun, because a Terminator wouldn't do that. You can see it there at 4:48 perfectly.
It's nuances like this that show a care for the details. So many films lack this.
I’m pretty sure after T2, a lot of young man joined the force just to sport the hair and the style of Robert Patrick. What a legend.
Lol, personally, I like Robert Patrick better with his hair a bit longer like he had in later movies.
I think T1000 is the most effective terminator yet.
Heard of the T 3000?
As I was saying Nah not much people saw that shit movie
As I was saying
Heard of t-1million?
(Actually real and as canon as genesis)
Seeing the results, T-8xx series was clearly the most effective, more than every single other model. It defeated T-1000, T-X, and even the phase matter monstrosity. In T1 he even killed one of the main characters, an extremely dedicated, prepared and skilled soldier who destroyed dozens of various hunter-killer machines. It took almost dumb luck for Sarah to crush it with a press.
There is a reason why T-X got endoskeleton back, after it was removed for T-1000. Endoskeletons rule.
Certainly one of the most powerful and hard to destory
The dead stepmom is Vasquez from Aliens!

One of the best Terminators, versatile, quick and intelligent. 👍😎
Quick, but he always walks...
Great actor
Great director
Great special effects team
And one hell of a movie
Fun fact. Robert Patrick did all the running scenes and was able to catch up to John on his bike. Cameron had to tell him to slow down.
Really?
@@jaydenslaptop Yes.
Terminator 2 Judgement day, is still by faaaaaaaaaaaaar the best Terminator movie EVER ! 👤
Super well made 😌
I read on TVTropes that the T-1000 was so good at being a terminator, Skynet got scared of it and shelved the whole model. Skynet was afraid of killer robots like people were.
30 years later and the CGI and visual effects are still incredible.
One of the greatest sci-fi movies of all time and a brilliant performance by Robert Patrick. I was so convinced of his near-indestructability that I kept expecting the character he subsequently played in the Sporanos to terminate Tony.
I get goosebumps watching the first two Terminator movies. I love them so much!
The best Terminator ever! Frigging legend among other androids and robots from Sci-Fi.
You might be focusing on the whole picture more than the individual parts. A lot of art teachers will make beginners turn their reference photo upside down and draw it that way just so they can focus on what the lines and shadows actually look like rather than what their brain thinks they should look like.
I always tried to imagine what god-level science Skynet used to create the T-1000, it makes the intelligence of Skynet really terrifying.
More terminator please ive waited a long time for this
It's 2020 and Robert Patrick as the T1000 is still one of the most iconic villains in all cinema.
This movie certainly sets some high standards when it comes to CGI
All these years later and the T-1000 is still one of my favorite villains. Still awesome, still unbeatable.

So good!! Love it
One thing the post T2 films lacked was a decent soundtrack. The music added so much to the films.
The music is especially good in the first movie. In the background of the chase scenes, the music that played would be comprised of various metallic clanging noises and it made the scenes very intense.
T-1000 was absolutely terrifying. All the Terminators that came after were just “oh cool.”
Because none of the actors portraying them but Arnold and Robert, were as good.
Robert patrick played the absolut ultimate villain of all the Terminators. He played it at the perfection.
"A minor antagonist in Genesys, which we will ignore since it decided to ignore what had come before it."
Not gonna lie, I kinda chuckled at that.
Cool fact: The first time they filmed the T1000 chasing John on his bike..he actually got him! Robert Patrick was so fast a runner!
T-1000 was cold as ice 🧊 Robert Patrick did such a good job.
This movie in one sentence
“HI IM CONNOR THE ANDROID SENT BY CYBERLIFE”
Robert Patrick was born to play T1000 no other villain in the other Terminator movies were half as terrifying as he was.
Just a correction, T1000 is actually heavier than the T800. Theres an interview with Robert Patrick where he states how James Cameron would describe the character whilst its fighting arnold. I think it was mentioned to be stronger also!
Posted whilst I'm binging your videos! ^^ awesome video Niyat!
These videos make it abundantly clear that the main thing missing from Terminator movies after the first two is the background music. New terminator movies sound like generic action flicks Terminator 1 and 2 sounded scary
The scenes of the T-1000 glitching are incredibly creepy. It’s amazing that someone was creative enough to think about that.
Explain Iron Man and his suits, the arc reactor etc
Sure MAB adding that to the list now, thanks :)
That would be cool 👍
Say what you want people but i think i the T-1000 is amongst the most iconic terrifying movie villains not the stupid OP useless T-X (useless because a T-850 seemed more powerful). Also nice vid.👍
T-X was designed to combat fellow terminators, T-1000 are for infiltration.
Lmao the T-850 didn't seem more powerful at all, she didn't care at all when they were fighting because the T-850 cannot do shit against her 1v1 combat, that's why she was jus tpushing him off like a ragdoll. And she was focused on John Connor almost the whole time
TX was when the SJW wave started.
That kinda makes you wonder why Skynet didn't order the T-1000 to do just that instead of going back into the past to kill John as a child.
The actor playing t1000 is very handsome.
I came here to see something better than dark fate.
One thing I noted in this great movie, is that we never see the world through the T-1000’s computer visual. Only the T-800. Would have been interesting to see.
The attention to detail in this film is phenomenal. The fact that they got an actual T-1000 from the future to play the villain is simply incredible.
T1000 is the scariest villain and a nightmare for the 90's kids... freaking legend...
I always call him the guy that can turn into anything
One of the best movies of all times. Incredible special effects, story, music and actors. Still rocks whenever I watch it.
Rob Patrick did such a great job playing the T-1000! I wish he got a chance at the sequels
This movie is brilliant, even after so many years!
Also, T-1000 is probably the most terrifying movie villain I've ever known tbh
0:57 MAN I wish everyone thought like you about retcons!
T1000 will always be the most badass character and I actually really liked the most recent version it was really well played
This movie came out in what, 1991? I’m honestly still amazed at how well the effects for the T-100 hold up, especially after all this time. Rewatching this movie is always a trip given how the effect has been butchered in other movies- think the Elm Street remake- I’m always terrified and amazed at how well it was done in this movie. 10/10. And your video on it makes me relive the experiences I had as a kid when watching it, great job!
It would’ve been dope in Terminator 3 to have seen the T-1000 as the good guy and possibly teaming up with Arnold to defeat the next advanced terminator.
Its crazy this movie was made in 1991 and the special effects still hold up to this day.
